If you cook a meal in a pot from 11:30PM to 12:00AM during a Blood Moon, you'll get a guaranteed 'cooking success' which can mean anything from a few extra hearts to an extended period of time for status buffs.

That’s called a panic Blood Moon, one will trigger if your game broke somehow, such as you moving too fast, or enemies not spawning, or just something in the world failing to spawn. You can also trigger one on purpose in a certain location using an opal fused to a 3x bow to shoot at a bunch of breakable rocks.
