  • Insta360 just release two new cameras...the Ace and the Ace Pro. While I'm sure both are great cameras with a slew of features, there are some things I noticed that I consider to be concerns. Let me know what you think.

The Ace has a smaller censor than the Ace Pro. Ace Pro has a small mod that allows for external audio. Also, the DJI Mic 2 Transmitter connects w/ Bluetooth. The lens cover is NOT removable. Some of the demo units had it as being removable, but on the final version it's NOT removable. The killer feature is the low light ability & the 8K 24 FPS w/ in body stabilization.

Great points. Thank you very much. I'm also an Insta360 owner and was very interested in the new release. Like you, I was looking forward to hearing about external audio, there is a "dongle" accessory available for the camera, so I think external audio will be possible (maybe it wasn't with the demo version). I also saw filters for the Ace Pro on the Accessory page, which leads me to believe that the lens cover does in fact come off.

Excellent points. Ive been using GoPro since the HD Hero and use various action cams to produce content for my channel. This camera is intriguing but A) external audio and for me - I make kayaking videos with a camera mounted on the nose of the boat - voice control is key. no voice, no go. No mention of it for this camera. Excellent video, thanks.

It is interesting that I can't find a single video of the Ace. Since the X3 will use external audio it seems logical to assume the Ace and Ace Pro would also BUT I don't like to assume. I'll wait and see. I do like what I saw with low light performance.
My action camera usage is primarily for the convenience of the size and ability to withstand water, not for durability so for me I don't see the screen as an issue.
The DJI pocket 3 is appealing BUT I don't think it's near weather resistant enough for some of what I do.
I have the one, one x2 and X3 and a hand full of GoPro cameras so I'll chill for a bit and see what happens.
I'm actually just wanting a camera to use on a cap so I'm thinking the Ace will do what I'm wanting. Time will tell.

Ace is only 6k with smaller sensor. DJI mic 2 works with Ace Pro. Lens cover is not removable on definitive version. Only on prototypes.

The only reason why Im looking at ace pro is the low light capability.
Im also not a fan of the flip screen but for what i use it for, i don't have to flip it up because it will be in a dive case.

    Good video chief!
Up until now I haven’t seen a review of the base model.
All those reviewers were so damn scripted & on a bandwagon!
They all were bashing all other action cams… smh
We all just need to get the products & test it for ourselves.

I take videos underwater, in the Atlantic ocean with the GoPro Hero 10/11. The low light improvement of the Ace Pro is appealing. But I do not know how they can this Insta360 new camera can be water resistant long term with a tilting/hinged LCD screen. Also the fixed, non removable glass lens protector makes the camera delicate. Too bad. I may keep using the Hero 10 and 11.

I am not sure you did your research before making this video. Same internals, sensor size is the biggest but they also show the mic accessories. anyone using this for action prob wouldn't have the flippy screen up except for vllogging.

The Ace Pro is a 1/1.3 sensor F 2.6 and the Ace is 1/2 sensor and F 2.4
The Ace Pro is capable of 8k whereas the Ace only 6k
Ace Pro is 46 minutes fast charging whereas the Ace is 70 minutes non fast charging
I ordered my Ace Pro today with the extended warranty and Insta Care 😁🤙🏽

Have the Gopro 9. Hate it when it comes to reliability, especially when it gets colder outside. Wouldn't get this new insta-camera either, it looks too fragile for an action camera and I don't know if the sensor is right either. I mean, 48 megapixels for video? Why???

I’m an insta360 fan as well, I have the One X2, and the One RS. One of the features that has me really looking at the ace pro is to be able to zoom in and still shoot 4K. Also I’ve had issue with GoPro (I still have a hero 8 and 9 that I never use) freezing, and losing footage. The insta360’s have been flawless. I’m looking to start more vlogging next summer and it’s got my attention. But I really don’t know, the ace pro, the GoPro hero12, or the DJI action 4. All great choices I’m sure but every review video says something different lol

Hey - thanks for the comment. I still have my GoPro 7...works like the first day I got it. If I didn't have any action cameras and had to buy one today I would most likely choose the Action 4. I love GoPro but DJI has really been impressing me lately. I'm still not sold on the Ace Pro yet...need to give it a few more months. Good luck!

The GoPro 12 battery lasts forever, even at 5.3 60 it’s good enough. Not frozen yet and of course the footage and audio from a mike exceptional. What I have been looking for is a reliable quality Bluetooth mike for the 12, currently I strap on a Rode wireless to the media mod. Anyway so to say I will be sticking with GoPro as it does 60 5.3 (plenty of crop room for 4k TH-cam) and the Insta only offers 4k at 60.

They all had talking points that they had to hit with their videos. Some of the bigger ones got paid, and they all got the camera for free in exchange for hitting those talking points. How many of them called it a gopro killer and game changer? Trusting those reviews is like trusting an infomercial.
Here we are looking at this new product with the same major flaw as the GoPro 8 and its ignored by all the reviewers, sorry I mean it was ignored by all the paid camera salesmen. I guess that is a the same thing.
Insta said that the lens is not removable but you can mail it back to them and they will do it.
The weird A.I. graphics are just a novelty, is anyone going to really use those in their videos long term? I think the answer is no.

A lot of scaremongers gets you lots of views. Most of this was nonsense, and this another example of what seems to be a disease with some TH-camrs who use negativity to grow their site. This guy is rational about AI , but is really highlighting GoPros inadequate use of Ai and let’s face it that’s a brand way past its sell by date and missed the boat and lost its way since it was bought out by a so called visionary who got go pro products developments all wrong with a trail of disasters. The point is this guys cinisism is based on the “ go pro “ Ai experience, has a nerve to think insta might make same mistakes, they are more careful and innovated many things. So take no notice folks, the only real competition is DJI who are a bigger company. The Ace pro criticism that I and others have is non removable lens protector which I think is superglued in. I want to use my small Letus ananamorphic lens and can’t because of the glass red frame, so may buy the Ace standard also if lens glass is removable. Does an anyone know as a definitive fact ?

Thanks for checking out the channel and for leaving a comment. I have 3 GoPros (7, 10 & 11) but I also have 3 Insta360 cameras (One, One X2 & Go2) along with 2 DJI cameras (Action 2 & Pocket 1)...not to mention 1 DJI drone. So I'm certainly not partial to one brand over the other. That said, no camera is perfect (even the Ace Pro) so buyers should be aware of these concerns...in my option.
