action camera getting better and better in low light quality, Gopo better catch up
I own a hero 12 and it’s weakest point is low light video. 😢😢😢😢
I dont think that they will, i was an gopro user since 2011 with hero 2.. and have 4 black, 8 black, 10 and ordered 12.. but returned them. Every gopri had overheat issues.. missed somany good clips cos of that fron tricks that im scared to do again cos of very high risk. Also it shuts itself off sometimes while telling that battery is empty.. while there was 38%... same with other batterys.. also gopros customer service has been the worst i ever used. They forgot to send my packige.. missing items from packige.. looooong wait times for service and so on.. so switched on dji
@@timoklap I've had the same problem as you I've already had 2 events that the gopro shut itself down because of an overheating issue.
This is interesting, did you use the actual hyperlapse setting on Action 4? It shouldn't be that shaky like your footage shows 👀
2:24 dji is crisp..!
Honestly I like the idea of cutting and editing clips from the device. Saves time later in adobe and allows a week of footage to just be ready…streamlines workflow, it seems like there looking out for the end user, which is nice. They’re very Toyota in the camera industry right now
I want to see what it looks like with the shutter speed to around 400 in low light for running or bike riding Vs the action 4. Thanks
Great video, thank you for sharing. one thing i noticed skin tone is more redish compare to action 4? is there a setting to get more realistic skin tone on Insta30 ace pro?
Yes, I agree. I believe that acepro tends to add more red to the color to make it more appealing, while action 4 maintains a natural and true-to-life color look because of the color temperature sensor.
Is the Ace Pro in focus? Looks a bit out of focus in most clips.
Ace Pro does not focus well for closer subjects. Its not a good vlogging camera
not good at close up. very great quality image tho. It's like DJI's best tech is how well all their camera's track and focus cuz they mainly are great at that due to their drones.
Due to its large sensor (same as Action 4) paired with a large aperture (bigger than Action 4) it has a longer minimum focus distance. The result is at arms length you are out of focus despite Insta360 claiming (inaccurately) a 40cm minimum focus distance. Notice how just a bit further away at 1:38 both cameras become in focus. Ultimately this makes the Ace Pro a less than ideal vlogging camera, although perhaps the subtle soft focus on the face wouldn't be very noticeable to most viewers not looking for it when it isn't placed side by side with a different camera. The large sensor and aperture that cause the harm are also a big part of the reason its better in low light, so you can't have your cake and eat it too.
@@canyonblue737-8 Try the Pocket 3. It's VERY good for vlogging. Just be sure to adjust the EV comp down by -.3 or -.7. It tends to over expose a bit. Once that it adjusted, the image is really good and it's always in focus.
Sounds like it’s not enough to buy another Action camera, glad the Action 4 holds its own still. Plus it has D-log and better audio and FOV. Good review still.
Which camera is your used for this content?thats is really cool
i heard another youtuber mention (i also read on reddit) that the ace pro's ai warp feature will be a paid subscription starting january 2024. do you know about this?
How much price of dji?
Osmo action 4 for sure!🔥
better audio, better stabilization, great durability.
@@abdulganisehamCon poca luz estabiliza mejor el ace pro
Thanks for your professional review, which camera can take Video/Photo simultaneously like ex-GoPro 6
in terms of video quality, sound and fov I dont't think that the insta is usd200 more valuable than the dji. The additional features are ok but is not the most important for me. Thanks for the review
The price gap is $50
@@raiyanidk this is now but the last 2 weeks the values were $279 against $449
@@carriagadafhuh ? So the action4 price up that much ? I think it’s the same price with Ace now (not pro)
DJI Osmo Action 4 + DJI Mic 2 = Best action camera
Which one do I prefer? Well both of them have a good functions I guess I’ll just buy them both
its an action camera. Most important thing is size and durability. Action 4 wins in both category. Picture quality is similar, recording action sports in dark isnt very common. For vlogging (like you do in video) are other cameras like osmo pocket 3.
Yes it's an "action cam", but that doesn't change the fact that nowadays most of use are actually looking to use these cameras for filming everyday activities in situations where you don't want to worry about durability, rain, etc.
@@LetoDK yea that's what the DJI pocket 3 is for.. one of the best camera's out there with insane stability.. problem is durability is on the negatives.

Thank you for this review. Do you know that you CAN use your DJI Mic 2 with the Ace Pro ?
Connect directly with USB-C like Action 4????
@@JacopoDiGiuli directly with Bluetooth (AirPods connexion)
@@photographiezautrement Ah right... I would like to know if DJI Mic with wireless microphone and receiver attached to Ace Pro in USB-C works!
Yes DJI Mic 2 works great with Ace Pro and this is a game changing feature as it significantly reduces bulk and weight while filming outside. Again depends on what the user is using the action cam for.
@@CanadianSyed You didn't understand what I meant: DJI Mic 2 is the new "single" bluetooth microphone sold (for now) only bundled with the DJI Pocket 3...I was talking about the DJI Mic Wireless, the one that has been available for some time now (in both dual and single versions) with a transmitter and receiver microphone!
Cool !!!
Ace pro ordered !
Action 4 is user-friendly for rough use.... I preferred action 4..
I have a qestuon. The gopro 12 has a mode where you can shoot in full, Then in its editing software you can easily switch the footage to vertical. Does the insta360 ace software have the same thing? Or do you need to turn the camera sideways to film vertical shots?
I don't think it does unfortunately 😕 however sense the ace can shoot higher resolution it's much easier to crop vertically without losing any detail so it's not that big if a deal to me but it be nice to have
@@jameshandley7197 well actually the ace I found out does have a free mode for shooting. Which even shows you what the footage will look like in wide and vertical. Easily swap between it in the editing software
you are going to lose a lot of footage switching to 9:16. why dont you just hold/mount and record vertically?
@@lauriL90 isn't that the same thing switching it physically to vertical? Well switching the aspect ratios within the camera and not having to turn it. What in doing will be hours of shooting. Which is primarily wide and then will take many clips from that for short social media videos too.
@craigshandworld it's better tuen the camera vertical then to use the mode manual you get more in view rather then using the built in mode
Funny to see that smaller channels vs bigger channels get different results on theese cameras.
So I've seen probably hundreds of videos that I can find between the hero 12, the osmo 4, and the ace pro, and you are 100% correct because for some reason all the sponsored insta 360 videos I've seen look a whole lot clearer than this and I don't see many people running to compare the instant 360 and the osmo 4. I was all in on the insta 360, but now I'm starting to think osmo 4 again, only because I think that action camera is clearer; then all the bells and whistles that the 360 has.
@@carltonlandry1972same thing. At first I almost bought the Ace pro, but now I think about Action 4. Ace pro seems to be more a compact camera for vlogging, and the DJI is more a action camera itself and seems more sturdy
@@carltonlandry1972same thing. At first I almost bought the Ace pro, but now I think about Action 4. Ace pro seems to be more a compact camera for vlogging, and the DJI is more a action camera itself and seems more sturdy
I think action win in any aspect more details ang realistic and sound quality is great
Thanks for this great video
My opinion on your video about the Ace Pro and Dy Action 4
At 0:29 I like Dy Action 4 better
Why ?
The color doesn't give your face that orange cast like it does with the Ace Pro
I also like the background a little better in some places, e.g. the house on the right looks sharper, the advertising column also looks nicer and the colors are nicer
the tree trunk appears stronger in color
On the other hand, the leaves on the Ace Pro are a little stronger in color
I like the sky in both of them
the Action 4 gru white and the Ace Pro light blue
In my opinion, Action 4 wins here
At 0:39 it's harder
The trees background looks sharper with Dy Action
When it comes to grass, I like both of them, the Action 4 has a somewhat natural tone, the Ace Pro has a slightly exaggerated green tone, which I also like
The face looks a bit stronger on the Action 4 but not exaggerated
In my opinion, Action 4 wins here
At 0:48 the picture on the Ace Pro is too dark for me
In my opinion, Action 4 wins here
At 0:55 when you stop you can see that the action 4 is sharper
Both look good while running
a draw
The Ace Pro wins for all low light shots
But I will no longer use an action cam in the future and no longer use the S23 Ultra
at low light
but the Pocket 3, which vastly outperforms all of them
At 1:36 I like the action 4 better, why the face in Ace Pro looks too orange and in Action everything looks a little more natural
At 2:14, the Action 4's image is a bit too dark for me, but the houses are sharper in the Action 4 and I like the face better here in the ace Pro
The Ace Pro wins here
At 3:22 I like both
The Action 4 is sharper and has more detail in the grass
the face colors appear a bit stronger in Ace's case
and here I also like the blurriness of the Ace in the grass and trees
a draw
At 4:23 the action is four sharper
You can clearly see it in the details on the jacket and the leaves are sharper
I also like the slightly blurry look of the Ace
a draw
My opinion
For the low light range, Ace Pro is better
But when I take the best low light shots, the Pocket 3 simply has nicer colors and shows a lot more details
During the day the Ace Pro is great as is the Action 4
What I like about the Ace Pro is that it is often slightly blurry. The faces are a bit too orange for me
With The Action Four I find the details clearer
Both great cameras
Thank you, I subscribe to your channel
Was this video sponsored by Insta 360? Because you pointed out the features that the Ace Pro has which the DJI didn't but you never mentioned the features that the DJI has which the Ace Pro doesn't such as D-log and 10 bit color which are pretty important features. Also you mentioned that the audio sounds about the same even though the audio from the DJI was clearly better.
Lol, exactly
Okay i really like insta 360 because of the flip side mirror
I was deciding between the GoPro 12, Insta360 and DJI and saw tons of reviews by now. Making it short, the DJI Osmo Action 4 destroys Insta360 and GPH12.
what will you the camera for? cycling ? vlogging? what make you chose DJI ?
@@umarism081 mainly for paiball/magfed, Downhill biking and parasailing, but also as a regular webcam as I work and travel a lot.
I will choose DJI Action 4. The microphone is better. And I think I am not going to record a dark place. Why do I need to record a dark place? 😂
Why not😏
Time for another show...
If you can't come down to a conclusion, you are just making people more confused.
😂
So maybe it was just me but I find the DJI just as good as the insta 360. This is the first real comparison I've seen, and I must say DJI is not that far behind. In my opinion I think the insta 360 wins on the simple fact of the low light, and some of the other features that's packed in like the flip screen and the highlight edits. I sure hope there's more real world comparisons because this is very eye opening,
❤️
Thanks for the video. I'm surprised to see how poorly the Ace Pro performed in low light. Any jitter is too much for my taste and I feel like it ruins the shot. It is much improved over other action cams though. Personally, I feel like I need two devices, 1 pure action cam that can capture any aggressive movements like snow skiing, cycling, water skiing, etc. (i.e. Insta360 X2 or X3) and a 2nd for when traveling and capturing family videos. The small form factor, quick start-up, good battery life, no need for a flash, etc. is just less headache and doesn't take away from whatever is happening in the moment. I was hoping the Insta360 Ace Pro might fill that gap for me, but again, low light shots just don't look great. This is where I think the DJI Pocket 3 might be best. It is just too bad it is so pricey, the FOV is more narrow, and I'm not a huge fan of the constant auto-focus ("focus pump"). There just isn't anything out there that sort of does it all yet, but getting closer.
DJI Action 4 and DJI Pocket 3 are that exact combo. Add a mini drone like the DJI Mini 4 Pro and have a small sized kit that fits in a backpack and covers all your video needs all sharing 10 bit, D-Log M recording for incredible color grading options that work between all of them... something Insta360 doesn't even offer.
Berlin?
Shots In Zoo and Pberg ?
I wish I had watch this comparison 2 weeks ago. 😢
why? what would you choose?

We never manipulate anything, our goal is to show fair comparisons so that you can decide for yourself which device is better :)
👏
Felt like you were sponsored by 360. I could be wrong, I don’t know
1. Warmer tone but blown out highlights.. Ace Pro wins
2. No need to explain.. Ace Pro wins
3. Equals
4. Equals too, not much different
5. DJI I think? Slightly clearer, I'd use an external mic in this kind of situations anyways
6. Equals
7. Ace Pro has sharper details so it wins there, the DJI is slightly warmer
I'm too lazy to continue ngl
audio dji osmo action 4 better than insta 360
Would love to see it diving?
I prefer the insta in every way except the 1 that means I'll be buying the DJI.. lens cover.
Off D-Log DJI 4.
Thanks for sharing! I prefer Insta360 AcePro. The lowlight performance, stability and AI are awesome!
6:46 ace is the better camera overall nice video
funny guy
The sky is blown out by DJI ace isn’t 0:35
It's not a blown-out sky; Acepro just tends to add some blue color to the sky. It's not even the true sky color in the European winter season.
look like insta360 is sponsor no any good word for dji even in mic comparison that have for sure better the dji, you say that is the same
my opinion is that avtion 4 is better camera but need more work from you at post or at settings withe ace pro you have easier good results
The low light video quality alone is enough for me. I'm buying the ace pro right away.
Just ordered the ace pro from insta360
In my opinion the ace pro is better for a more wider audience and noobs like me. I cant stand editing and the fact the Ace can auto select clips is huge for someone like me. I do think there is some draw backs that will be fixed for ace 2. Next installment needs to have a front camera video screen too ontop of the flip screen option. Have the option to have any of them turned on or off. Also, Removable lens needs to be a must for the next round. I see insta360 realizes this and is now offering 1 year replacement on any damage to the lens. It also domes down to what you will be using these cameras for. Extreme sports i think the ace should not be your choice.
The lens îs removable, very easy. I tried it, i changed it, after watching and reading about it.
Action 4 Audio Recordings -clipping, ambient sounds too loud.
(Sensitive ambient sounds can sometimes be an advantage.)
The sound is so sharp and requires de-Esser.
Edited freedom, low light and flip wins.
It's a shame to replace the lens cover.
Action cams mount also need convenience,
but strong bonding is better. If it falls off...
My new purchase is coming up.
Thank you for the good reference video.
An action camera needs to be weather friendly (Handles High-Low Temp),Easy to mount, Charges quickly,Less Heat,Image-Video quality,Stabilization, Easy interface.

I really want to like the Action 4 more than the 360 pro but in EVERY video I see (maybe it you tube) the highlights are blown out! Look at the sky, look at the clouds, they are ALL blown out and show no detail. Colors are better in some situations but blown highlights can't be pulled back.
1:19 quite a lie
certainly it has to be ACE PRO without doubt!

Nice video , please giveaway this camera to me because I need action to make vlogs but I didn't have budget to buy so please giveaway me to start blogging
The skin tone looks orangish on the ace pro
While Action 4 is a great camera, it's hard to justify its purchase after the release of insta360 acepro, just better on almost every area
Action 4 is significantly smaller and lighter, has better battery life, has replaceable lens glass, has superior daylight stabilization IN camera (free frame mode in Ace Pro requires post processing in their app), has superior image quality with a true LOG profile that can be color graded (Ace Pro doesn't even offer this), and has 10 bit color (Ace Pro is the only action cam of the big 3, Insta360/DJI/GoPro to only offer 8 bit). Color graded daylight images KILL the over processed and less stabilized footage coming from Ace Pro. The Ace Pro only makes sense if you absolutely need a stabilized action cam to take night time video (and not really that great looking) which doesn't describe most users, even if their low light stabilization is impressive (the single truly better feature they offer.) I love Insta360 as a company and I welcome competition but their new camera is 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
