Rainbow Lorikeets remind me of hummingbirds because they are both birds that drink nectar from flowers, have a lot of energy, they are both pollenators, and they are both colorful

Hey kratt brothers I'm a huge fan of your first TV show kratts creatures in now the one that is having new episodes wild Kratts and the big thing both of those TV shows but in the summertime there was a bear that was in the town right next to the town I live in in here in South Jersey westville and it was in westville Grove but I'm pretty scared of black bears or any kind of bear and can you tell me the truth about them

That was so fun for me and my 6 year old creature adventurerer. We have some at a local wildlife park and we always love to get in and feed them. I'm excited to go again in the spring!

A lot of people do own lorikeets, but as always parrots certaintly aren't for anyone.
Lorikeets don't make good pets. They get very territorial/bitey when they are in heat.
They are not as docile as a parakeet...which is a better parrot for families.

I’m so happy I found this channel! I grew up glued to the TV watching Zoobomafoo and making my mom record the episodes on tape so I could watch them all day! You guys are one of the main reasons I’m passionate about wildlife and trying to do something similar with video and education. I still get that childhood nostalgia and excitement watching you guys 18 years later, I’d love to get some advice from you if possible!

Rainbow Lorikeet. I'm from San Diego, and the highlight of my childhood was the Lorikeet enclosure at the Wild Animal Park
You guys are so awesome!! thank you for inspiring my to be a zoologist, when I grow up I'm going to study okapi's, I'm gonna plant a butterfly garden to help monarch butterflies 😄🦋🦋🦋
They are parrots. They also eat seeds, some tree resins (in spring - don't know which tree it is, but they come in with their beaks splattered in it), clover flowers and "greenage" (like baby spinach, or its equivalent in the wild) and fruit. They don't just ONLY eat nectar. Otherwise they wouldn't survive in Australia at all. They'll also eat bread and MINCE, but I don't recommend putting either of those out for them (I suspect bread causes either a yeast infection in their crops, or forms a lumpy pasty bolus they can't properly digest) - so *PLEASE DON'T PUT BREAD OUT FOR THEM*. It kills them slowly. Next door neighbour insisted on putting out heaps of bread (she was actually trapping them to sell - highly illegal in Australia as all native animals/birds are protected under law) and those who didn't fall for her trap had protruding crops which didn't resolve. Some of them did not make it. Found out about the mince when I threw some out for the currawongs/magpies/butcher birds/ravens/kookaburras that come into my yard. The rainbow lorikeets swarmed the mince. They kind of move it around their mouth, so not sure how much of it was swallowed. I've also read elsewhere they'll eat small grubs and caterpillars (lots of protein/fat content) but haven't seen that. I stopped putting any mince out immediately, but a program called Landline had a guy who put out mince for the kookaburras say he'd been using mince for years, rainbow lorikeets seemed to eat it, and he'd seen no ill effects. They probably need more protein at certain times, but I don't recommend mince, just purpose designed lorikeet foods.

Rainbow lorikeets are known as the clowns of the Australian bird world they’re absolutely beautiful and absolutely the funniest birds. I really love rainbow lorikeets
