same thing happened to me with a bass boat a few years ago. He sent me pristine pictures of the boat, clear titles, engine print out ect. I drove from Texas to Connecticut (26 hours one way), walked into the barn and the boat looked like you had taken a hammer, file and chisel to the hull. I wasn't there 4 minutes, got back in my truck and drove back to Texas.
The guy actually acted pissed because I didn't buy it. The only thing I could come up with is this guy sent me pictures of the boat when he had bought it brand new.
I think if someone rolls back the odometer on a vehicle they can be charged with a crime for tampering with it from what I've heard
I have a 1 owner 2015 ram 3500 regular cab dually 4x4 6.7 Cummins that’s been used as a hot shot truck. I threw it up on facebook marketplace to see if there would be any interest, I was completely blown away by all the BS I had come my way. People wanting to trade, guys come look at it and waste my time with never being serious about buying. I was up at Veijas casino and even had a guy offer me $7,500 and when I turned him down, he became a complete jackass and talk so much crap about my truck. People are so crazy now days, it’s hard to trust people.

The ram 3500 is popular truck for hot shot trucking. So alot out there with High mileage
Buying a used dually is sketchy. Hot shot driver will pull all the interior out install a secondary digital speedometer. Run the truck like crazy put 200k and put it all back together with the interior in the plastic and ask 60k for the trucks.
I was literally about to go look at a truck in Missouri last Saturday and the add the truck had 164k on it. He mentioned a mileage discrepancy. The day before heading out I pulled my own carfax on it and in Feb. 2022 it got a service and reported 293k on it. (with multiple previous services to show it progressing to that point). I contacted the guy and told him nvm and wasn't coming. He claimed he bought it from auction like that. It does show on carfax it was purchased a few months ago at auction.

No splash guards or fender liners is a huge red flag in a used car, it almost always means it was in an accident and fixed in the cheapest, shittiest way possible.

Cleetus McFarland just got kind of the same thing but from copart pictures looks good, car showed up and it was a MESS!! Broke block and tranny and it was labeled as a runs and drives. I think a few people got on copart's ass and they took it back. Always do your research on used vehicles.
I took a trip a couple weeks ago to look at a truck in Wyoming It was an '07 LBZ. I drove from Colorado, thankfully it was only about a 6-hour drive but when I got there I realized someone had changed the instrument cluster to a instrument cluster out of a Cadillac and there was no way that this truck had 120,000 mi, it had a rear main seal leak some visible blow by and had a rust starting on the doors and rockers. Guy said the truck was from Arizona. 🤣 Yeah fucking right. There was also a ton of pitting on the aluminum parts of the engine. The guy was asking 24,000 for it and also when I got there there was a very loud ticking sound which I think was a bad injector. After we looked at that hunk of junk I called up a guy that had one in Nebraska, another 2-hour drive and the one in Nebraska was pretty much perfect minus being dirty and had a code for the turbo vane position sensor.

I live in Phoenix and Odometer rollbacks are literally so common on Facebook marketplace, A couple giveaways for me are fake accounts,hiding plate on pictures and freshly detailed. I’ve gone to see two trucks with that but thankfully I always check the CarFax.

@@markstewart3627 No I wasn’t able to check the Carfax on both of those until I saw them in person since I didn’t have a Vin/plates online. Now I won’t even bother going to see them unless I could verify the informations correct.

just buy a new truck, so many of the trucks on the market are just beat up. I have onky bought used cars from family or people I know for this reason. You guys know what to look for but others don't and they get hosed

This is what I thought too. Not sure about other states but in Arizona on the title it’ll say “Actual miles” or “Not Actual” so that’s something to lookout for.

My 19 3500 HO Dually has rough paint, factory paint sucks. You clay and wax/detail the shit out of your truck. All sorts of contaminants create a rough surface. Doesn't determine shady shit. Run a mil gauge over the questionable surface, differences will tell you work has been done. Not a rough surface. FYI
Clay/waxing your car will not create orange peel. Orange peel is from painting a vehicle. When it looks drastic like this truck then it’s a clear sign of repaint.
@@GENESISDRIVEN I was referencing clay and waxing that has obviously been done to Eddies truck. My truck came from factory rough. Its a truck so I don't care. My point was you can't use your pampered truck that has had every attempt to perfect the surface as a baseline as he did. That was my only point. Never said clay or waxing creates orange peel. Never ever used the words orange peel. And not to flex, but I am a master level coatings inspector. Eddie is probably right with the status of the truck and its coating. I just disagree with the reasoning he used. Even if he is actually correct that work had been done to the trucks coating. And orange peel is not a symptom of painting a vehicle, its a symptom of incorrectly painting a vehicle.
