    Awesome video! Gives me the confidence to give it a go myself. Thanks Keith!

    This is one job I was not looking forward to doing on Bernie the 1275GT but watching your video has made me a little more confident and I will defo be going for a cloth one.

      I've never done Vinyl but aside from taking windows in and out cloth is pretty forgiving

    Very Smart, ideal sunny day for fitting, great for the light, hope it wasn’t too hot

    That looks far smarter than a vinyl head liner. Sprout is looking great

    Absolutely love the personal touch under the headlining, Keith!! What a great way to mark your restoration!

      It will probably leave a condensation patch on the outside on a cold morning now LOL. Joking aside I used Sikaflex on Vini's CF roof and done a union jack pattern, it shows up every damp morning now LMAO

    Thank god that was foam on the garage floor, I thought it was an oil spill until you said, I thought Keith is going to be scrubbing that floor later 😂, Sprout is looking good

    Brilliant job Keith. Loved the personal note you left. Sprout is looking very good. Pity the Brighton runs not happening would have loved to see sprout in person. 👍

    I had to do the vinyl one on my mk1 S, I chickened out. I had the contact details for a retired motor trimmer and paid him to two hours labor, to do it at my home. Looks fantastic.

    Newton Commercials are just 10 miles from me at Leiston. Very helpful people. Later this year I will be parting with quite a lot of money in Leiston ...Lol

      LOL, they certainly do good quality products, worth paying a little more for and they know their stuff

    Thanks for that Keith. I still have to complete the fitting of my headlining but I have elected to use a vinyl one from Newton because it is more authentic for my Mini year. Sadly this makes it much more difficult to get the creases out. I am waiting for a warmer day when it isn't blowing a gale.

    Hi Keith, definitely think you were right to be more cautious after doing piioow and the results are great hey! And in years to come if someone else replaces the headlining they'll see your stamp hey lol... Great stuff 😊

    Great job ! I fitted a black vinyl one to mine, and its awful, i swore i would never do another but that cloth one is quality, you really got that neat Keith, thanks for sharing

  • @johngriffith5231

    Nice neat job , but let me tell you how it was done on the production line.All of the apertures were brush painted with evostick glue,then the headlining was also glued ,with the sticks in place ,fitted as you did front front to back ,two guys working together , the front stuck on so the stick was upright ,then the rear pulled to a good tension and stuck and folded over ,get inside and pull the creases out along the sides and stick around all areas ,being folded and stuck on the apertures then all trimmer with a craft knife ,visors and all other fitting installed ,so that two men all done in twelve minutes,on nights lol.

      Thanks John, very interesting, 12 minutes WOW! I guess once you've done a few you get much quicker at it. Must have been quite a physical task, in and out of the car. I'm surprised they never went to a solid once piece headlining on late cars. I used to work at Nissan in the late 90's and the head linings were easy to take in and out as they were solid.

    Great video Keith. What you call canes are called bows by my upholsterer mates. Same as the tonneau supports on pickups etc. Did they come with the colours on the ends?

    • @classicminiworkshop
      @classicminiworkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      aha, thanks, bows makes more sense. Yes, the ends were colour coded.

    • @kevbarry7453
      @kevbarry7453 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@classicminiworkshop would you believe it Keith. Someone who shall remain nameless banged their head on the front bow and broke the little red plastic fitting on the end. I just peeled back the corner of the roof lining over the drivers side and there it was......rolled out into my hand. I've sent a message to Newton Commercial to see if I can just get a couple of red ends. Do you know if they are available separate? It would make more sense for postage to Australia rather than have them attached to the bow which I don't need.

    • @classicminiworkshop
      @classicminiworkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevbarry7453 I'm not sure to be honest. I seem to recall someone else having problems trying to get the ends and was talking about 3D printing them.

      @@classicminiworkshop I managed to extracate the good one and will head down to my local library next week and scan it and print it in there Maker Space. Yep...best library ever!! If I get a decent result I will share the STL file.

    Hi Keith, again you make everything look so easy. I need to tackle this at some point, roughly how many hours do you think it took?

    • @classicminiworkshop
      @classicminiworkshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It probably took me 4hrs but I would allow a whole day if removing / refitting windows too
