Looks absolutely stunning.... When you start putting stuff in I highly recommend putting it ALL on wheels, I have my own professional theatre workshop and everything is on wheels it makes out so much easier..

I always do them vertical now since an old boy told me they catch less dust that way…👍
@@couplandsj I was always taught to leave them vertical, catches less dust if they ever get painted over or anything like that it has a channel to run out of. And just looks neater lol

Nice one Tim, those overhead sockets will be the ones you use the most mate. I have 4 in my workshop and they are always being used for power tools.

Love the final look - been a journey to get here and now you have power, heat and light...no stopping you. I used Quinetic (wifi) light switches on my shed along with wifi plugs so I can switch on/off lights and 3-pin appliances from the house ~ 30ft away. Also invested in wifi electric heater with iphone controller - perfect for scheduling to come on early on a cold winter morning before working!

If you did still want to add a Quinetic switch in the house you could do it by having their RF receiver trigger a SPDT relay wired as the second switch in a normal two-way circuit with that existing outside light switch.
Hi, it's interesting about Kelvin Lighting 6,000 whereas, I opine artist channels mention 5,200 as been best for art as this whilst not being warm is only just into cool light. I have gone for that in a garage convertion. I particularly like your surface wiring and banks of plugs. A very interesting sequence of videos on this amazing workroom. Thanks.

Brilliant effort, it looks fantastic! taking away some inspiration for my own little shed/workship even though its on a much much smaller scale!
What a fantastic space. Looks awesome and easy to clean. I thought you would have installed a mains powered smoke alarm or fire detection switch and even a kill switch for all the power too. You should also maybe consider some permanent camera mounts over head so you can film straight down at a work bench. Have it on a track so it's easy to move along the workshop along the ridge beam. Over wall wonderful work and what a wonderful life and environment you are creating for you and your family.

Some nice ideas. As someone with young kids as well I'm going to fit a lockable isolator switch / e-stop to the sockets which have the permanent power tools plugged in - then if the kids end up there without me, they can't accidentally turn anything on

With all your skills you are going to need a Planer Thicknesser, a Table saw, Band saw, etc, so I would just sneak that into conversation with the wife ASAP. Great videos!!!

Surprised….that after all that work you never had a mains fire detection sensor with built-in alarm fitted…nice tidy job after all said and done…can’t wait to see the lay-out of the workshop…!!
Good point - easy to wire one into the lighting circuit later though.
Looks fantastic and really enjoyed watching the journey! Hopefully the reverberation will deaden down once you move your stuff in (obviously it is really apparent on this video because it's an empty space with hard surfaces). Otherwise, you may need to consider an independent body worn microphone or even the use of some temporary drapes just for filming purposes. Keep up the good work!

Get a turning peel (not cheap). It will save you a ton of effort than using a normal peel pulling it out to twist and then re-shoot. You can rotate on the heat :)

Hi Tim. If you use constant current led driver you won’t suffer from any drop in brightness across long lengths of strip.
Or you can add power injection at various points using additional runs of power cable from the LED power supply.

You should look at Philips hue lights, no switches at all if you don’t want, name it and tell google/siri/alexa to turn it on/off
From start of you shed to power on is that about 5 years looks very good I’m sure you will get a lot of pleasure from it especially in a British winter ,hey Tim do you still have your camper van you did out or have you sold it,old jimmy australia
How are you doing your heating again? Might be worth getting a heat exchanger fan if it's not for dust extract

Question will you be using the French cleat system to store your power tools etc or is this out of the question with not having wood walls.
Shouldn't you have compacted everything with insulating tape before installing the panels? Now you have slots everywhere.
Are the Brits the only people that offer a cuppa to tradesmen almost as soon as they arrive? I am in my 60's down here in Oz but no one ever takes me up on it. You can't have been paying them by the hour the speed they moved!

Great job, it's all coming together nicely, I did notice a slight reverb / echo on your voice inside, not that it's important,but maybe think about some sound dampener?
Yeah but boxy when empty. It’s better now there is stuff inside but likely needs an acoustic panel somewhere. Plus I was filming on a go pro so not the usual mics anyway.

I'm not sure if those wireless switches have the range, the ones with a battery are better, though also remember you have a metal workshop, which is a faraday cage.

What's the wireless switches operated off, 240v or wifi for the signal?
Quinetic wifi switches generate an impulse signal when clicked that send the signal to the receiver, which is hard wired into the 230v circuit. You can have multiple remote switches for a single receiver and a single switch can be linked to multiple receivers (not wifi though).
Piezo electric. Phillips Hue Tap switch works in a similar way.
Is there a cost breakdown somewhere or coming?

I'm gearing up to design a workshop myself. Built a small one with just the panels last year, but without the cladding because of budget. Now we're moved we want something nicer, but I'm still partial to the panels, they're awesome.
I love the timber frame look on the inside, I'm just not sure I can afford it with timber prices up 20% in some cases. And our local cheap supplier just restricted his business to tradespeople only because of shortages.

Not sure how the SWA is connected to that metal clad workshop dist board but you wouldn't normally export the houses earth conductor outside of the house equipotential zone, the workshop should be treated as a TT installation with just an incoming live and neutral and the earth provided by an earth stake, normally make the armoured off into a PVC adaptable box then Live and neutral straight through that and into the boards RCD incomer.
It's perfectly fine to export earth from the house unless a. House is TT then outbuilding must also be TT (exported from house AND its own stake) b. TN-S or TNC-S in house and outbuilding has extraneous metal parts (ie in contact with the ground) - OK to export earth but must be 10mm2 for bonding (it is part of the house's equipotential zone), or separate it and go TT, but your rod won't be as reliable as a supplier's earth. As he used 10mm2 SWA he can bond metal panels, if they're truly extraneous, and keep it connected to house earth. See John Ward on earthing outbuildings: th-cam.com/video/NvENsVUhDUs/w-d-xo.html
