Hi Nadine, I used to be a Micropigmentation technician who offered microblading long before it became so popular. My honest opinion - the shape of the brows are perfect and do suit your face shape. However, it is the fact that microbladed brows generally look so "perfect" that makes them look, well, done and obvious! For this reason, something not so perfect always tends to look best if one desires a more natural brow.
As regards the colour, blonde dyes have very poor longevity, and so most people who prefer a lighter brow opt for a light brown instead, which is unfortunate as a blonde dye would have produced a more flattering effect. The problem with dyes resulting in a less than desirable outcome has to do with the undertone of the dye coupled with the undertone of one's skin. Brown dyes have a strong blue undertone, and if couple with a cool skin tone, the colour will develop darker and cooler. This is particularly a problem with the thin skin of the brow area, where the pigment can be easily implanted a little too deep (the deeper the placement, the cooler/darker the end result). If a brown dye is implanted into a warmer toned skin, then the end result may have a slightly greener tinge. Microblading is just not as simple of deciding on a colour one likes and thinking that will be the end result, as when implanted into the skin, many factors can alter the end result - skin tone, texture and quality of skin, depth of pigment placement, and many more. This is where the therapist must calculate the anticipated degree of colour change and adjust accordingly!!!
As regards having the pigment removed, I would suggest allowing them to fade naturally. Removal is not as easy as it seems, if there were any iron oxides in the pigment used, then there is a strong chance your pigment may turn black when exposed to laser. I would contact the therapist and ask for the ingredients list of the pigments used before considering laser as a possible step. I would also query the possibility of scarring, and look for a very experienced laser removal doctor/technician. There is a chemical removal process called "Eraze" designed especially for micropigmentation pigments, however, on the brow area it is not typically recommended as the skin is so thin, with scarring being a very real possibility. Again, I would recommend only a very experienced technician. The use of acids, such as those you are currently using, will certain hasten the lightening of the implanted pigment.
If you are unhappy with your brows right now, please don't fret, they do suit you, but I can understand why you say everyone under 35 years approves, yet anyone older does not. I would suggest concealing them with makeup for now. You'll be surprised how quickly they will fade. If not implanted too deep, they will be gone without a trace within six months and be a thing of the past!!
Sincerely hope this information helps you. xoxo

Hi, I recently had mine done and love the shape but I think there is too much red pigment. Is this something that I can fix? If not how do I make them fade faster?

    • @leshella
      @leshella 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@jojos1273 Hi Jojo, apologies I have not been following this thread but was alerted to a post and so checked in. As regards your pigment not fading - in this circumstance I would query what pigments were used with your technician. There may have been a variety is issued which caused your pigment to not fade. Older pigments on the market take quite some time to fade - many years in fact. As such, these pigments are no longer popular and usage has dropped significantly. As pigment implantation (such as microblading) is now considered a SEMI-permanent procedure, and with older pigments not fading too well, such pigments are not in use as they are deemed permanent. The depth of pigment placement also has a huge role to play in how quickly the pigment will fade. Unfortunately, if the pigment is placed too deeply (as to the depth of a regular tattoo into the skin) then the pigment is 'capsulised' (a natural healing property of the body when a foreign body enters) and stays in the skin. With thinner or older skin, the pigment can very easily be placed too deeply.
Now, the fact that you say your colour has faded orange, and I cannot say for certain without knowing what pigment was used and how deep it was implanted, I would guess that an older pigment was used. Newer pigments on the market do alter in colour over time but it's more like a slight shade difference - so they may pull slightly warmer or cooler. But you seem very definite in describing them as orange. I am sorry to hear that. If older pigments have been used, then the possibility of them containing iron oxides is strong and would contraindicate laser removal for you as the iron would turn black in colour. Acid removal may be indicated but only with a very experienced removals doctor. Exfoliation of the area may help but the result may be subtle.
Again, this is just some advice to explain what may have happened in your case. It may be worth visiting an experienced technician in your area who may be able to cool down the colour with a cool (blue undertoned) brown. I would suggest looking for a portfolio of actual results of their own work (healed photos, not just freshly done!) and query their experience, qualifications, etc...

You didn’t show us your us your whole face with makeup but no makeup on your brows.
So it’s impossible to say but if people under 35 think they are fine why don’t you just rock them! Besides you have brown eyes maybe explore an unbiased opinion with a makeup artist. It could be a more youthful look and you are worrying too much.

The shape and colour with some make up applied looks beautiful.
    They will fade over time.
I have blonde hair & hazel eyes and recently had my eyebrows tattooed very light brown.
Being 48 and like yourself, did not want an Instagram eyebrow.
Struggled with colour initially as felt they were far too dark but have now faded after 3 months to a lovely light blonde/brown subtle colour and delighted with results, though took a while to get there and be happy with results.
I’d persist with them a little longer & hopefully you will achieve the colour you initially were looking for.

Like other people saying though, it's hard to tell when not seeing a full face before and after. But they look great. I do microblading, and i always use the absolute lightest colour i have on anyone over 45/50 because your skin tends to have a stronger hold. I then deepen the colour at top up if necessary. This is common practice and if under 45, its important to pick the lighter of whatever colour your thinking of for the same reason. Colour cannot be lightened, more hairstrokes can be added, but its too hard to take away or lighten.
For anyone thinking of getting microblading it is absolutely possible to do a colour test at the same time as your patch test, just ask your practicioner! X

I think you should just let them fade naturally. They are a good shape, and I think you should do a combination of Option 1 and Option 3. Sometimes, you can put makeup on them to soften them. Other times, when you're feeling bolder, you can let them be darker. You can be a bit stronger in your other makeup color choices to balance it all out.

Nadine, I’m 42....yes, product of the over-plucked 90’s brows...and I love your brows. The color looks great and the thickness is perfect.

Hi Nadine, firstly, thank you for sharing. Secondly, if you hadn't said it I wouldn't have noticed. Thirdly, I wouldn't worry about how dark they're. It's difficult to say as it's a video but I think it suits you and I'm in my early 40s, but hey it's not my face. I'd say, let them be, as you say they'll be gone after six months.
I haven't made the jump on microblading bandwagon because I have oily skin, apparently not suitable and also it disappears after six months. How much scarring is there after 3 years of microblading?

I personally love them, they are great! However, since you don’t like them, just let them fade. They will. I have had mine microbladed April 2017, and have had them retouched 4 times already as I use Tretinoin like crazy. I have naturally black hair and they used the darker color ink-which isn’t black, but it didn’t have this effect like you are experiencing. The first time I had them done they were super dark for a few days, but then faded to a very natural look. They would last longer if I wasn’t using Tretinoin, but I don’t mind having them retouched, it’s not even expensive where I live.
It’s a matter of taste, I think yours are very beautiful, but if you can’t stand them, don’t worry, they will fade away gradually. Sorry 😐

Thank you because I will NEVER do this...I can shape my own and I don't want cuts in my eyebrows because I think they will eventually get sparse from this...let them fade and don't do it again..but they look fine don't laser over it...now they are less dark and leave them...you tried and you'll go back to you!!!

I VOTE FOR OPTION 1. I would love to get microblading. I take blood thinners, so I do not know if I can. This procedure is not offered in my area,

I think the darker brows on you look stunning and give definition and life to your features . I am blonde and keep my brows dark brown as its the contrast that is interesting....and sexy lol A dark blonde may wash out your complexion , but eventually it is what you feel happy with.

Hi Nadine, join the club. I'm 52 and brunette. I had them done 18 months ago, the strokes have long since disappeared and I'm left with the shading which looks orange......I wish I hadn't done it, but I suggest you live with them for a while and see what happens. For what its worth, I think yours look really good, the shape and the colour suit your face. I'm looking at you, not just your eyebrows! Good Luck.

I've experienced the exact same problem. I've had 4 micro blading treatments over the last 10 years, by 4 different therapists. Each and every time my skin took on the pigment so much that they were way too dark, for way too long. I could go on and on about my experiences, what asked for and what I ended up with. Put it this way, never again! The only person I would trust with my brows would be myself, as I know the shape that suits me, the color and downtime that I can manage ( because lets face it if they're too dark the downtime is way longer, this is not makeup its semi permanent ). I have thought about micro blading, courses and owning my own machine, as I believe that there IS a way for this to not happen. Anyway to answer your question, on camera the colour looks ok, it doesn't look odd, bad or even noticeably too dark, but I do agree that having them slightly lighter would be perfect. Peels are what I used all 4 times (however trust me I was very close to trying the sand paper, cheese grater and straight up bleach), if you continue with the AHA's every night, then they will fade. I don't want to recommend this as it may be too much for your skin but this is what I also did ( I would've done anything to be honest), so straight after the AHA i would also use a manual scrub for 30 seconds (gently) then layered a nice thick layer of brightening serum or cream (containing vitamin c). I think that you can get away with this brow colour at this stage, as it's in between the blondest part of your hair and the darkest part of your hair closer to your roots, so do not worry they look good, and give it another couple of weeks and they'll look perfect. You look gorgeous as always and the brows... well they'll get better and better. Jo x

Option 1 - let them fade naturally with the help of retanol. What ever you do - no laser! Do not take any risks. I wonder what the clinic said and if they were nice and understanding about it. They are a bit dark but you’re so gorgeous!! Thank you so much for sharing! I’m so sorry you’re not happy with them

I think they look fantastic.....I'm 50 but I've also always liked a darker brow. I've been blonde, red and now medium brown and I like a brow 2-3shades darker than the hair...i say let them fade. (The day 1 photo was a bit terrifying :)

They look great and I am over 35. I have had microblading 3 times now, twice it was great and once it looked really blocky. My skin also soaks up pigment. If the microblading has been done using the handbook IMO you will see more fading over the next couple of months. They might look slightly blocky at the end, but they will actually fade quite quickly into individual hairstrokes. Hope you persevere.

Great tips, thank you so much, Nadine. Here is a tip for you, if you don't mind. Use a brow mascara (like BOIBROW) but in a suitable colour, of course. I must admit that your brows are a bit too dark for you colouring. If I were you I would let them fade away and in the meantime use a browmascara, as I do on the days I haven't had my brows done. From a redhead with too many "whites" showing. Have a great day, Sam.

I think they look quite natural, and lovely. I'm having my 3rd retouch next month and I'm going darker. My skin doesn't take the pigment. Figure-toi! My hair is Ash brown. Born blonde, but went brown by the time I was teenager. My dark roots look similar to your dark hair. I want your color! Mine faded to a light, light taupe brown.
Just let them fade naturally. Using all the peeling products you're using on them they'll fade quicker than mine since I'm not putting product on them that cause peeling or shedding.

  • @frannielocks

Don’t do a thing to them! They look gorgeous, and I’m 41. In just a few months they will fade quite a bit, mine have done after having them microbladed. Retinol and/or glycolic acid products will definitely fade them faster, as I’ve discovered. I also use Paula’s Choice products and after just a few times of accidentally getting exfoliant products on my brows they’ve faded enough that I need to go in for a touch up after just 4 months. So don’t worry, they will be fine. Mine were VERY dark for the first 3 weeks but looked perfect after about 6 weeks. My therapist warned me that they would need to be dark initially so that as the pigment settled into the dermis they wouldn’t fade too much. She explained that if she were to do the exact desired color right off the bat then they would be faded and have a “washed out” appearance after about 2 months. So just stick with it and know that even though your brows look super dark to you, they look just fine to everyone else.

I think fading is the way to go. Laser removal just sounds a bit scary. I have similar coloring to yours, hair and skin. Had my brows micro-bladed about a year ago. I was very happy with the results, a soft neutral dark-blonde that looked extremely natural. However, as they have faded they have turned a bit more of a warm blonde which I don't like. So you might talk with your aesthetician about any possibility of the color changing as they fade. (Just so you can make an informed decision about fading vs laser). Good luck - you look absolutely beautiful. We always seem to be our own worst critics, don't we?

Let them fade; no laser. They look great on camera with makeup in them, but you're looking at them in real life, without that filter in between. I would have freaked, too, especially that first 8-10 days. I'm glad you did it before I decided to have it done. A definate no-go for me, now. A good "eye opener", so to speak. No laser, though, please....Shape is definately great!

My eyebrows are a similar colour to yours naturally and I was a 90s girl so overplucked the hell out of them (oops!). I now have HD Brows every 4 weeks and fill them in with the Kat Von D blonde super brow pencil and pomade because the inside corners are non-existant. However I've been toying with the idea of microblading but I'm so worried I'll end up with dark brows like you have experienced! I feel like microblading works beautifully on dark haired ladies but us blonder ladies will have these issues. Thanks for the hoenst video!

I think your brows look really nice but I can understand your concerns. I'm very fair and I like a subtle brow look. Not too dark or "Insta-brow". I'm 32, and a lot of my friends are into that look but I personally hate it. From what I can see, via TH-cam, your brows look good. Perhaps just let your brows fade over time.

Let them fade naturslly. No to laser. Retinol and glycolic are the way to go. Shape is spot on. You look lovely. Thanks for sharing since I too am wanting to get this done. Costs about $450 where I live which includes 2nd follow-up appointment 2 weeks later for touch-ups.

I think microblading eyebrows ALWAYS looks obvious just like people who aren't good good at drawing in brows. You have to keep from staring and can't figure out why they can't see it when they look in the mirror! Just dye your brows, much more natural looking . You always look great!

For the love of all the make up & beauty gods, will you STOP apologizing for showing your #Nomakeup face....- OMG the horror, OMG I'm gone blind *imagine the shocked emoji here - like that's such a terrible thing to see. the #instagramBrows are more hurtful and create more trauma for me then your clean face !!!! I would go for - leave them as they are, touch up with a bit of make up, and see if you can own them as a shade darker. but lesson learned

Had no idea you had them done I'm 45 and just had mine done I'm on day one so omg !!!! But had zero clue you had yours done even I think they are fine amazed you only had Emla cream as it's not a good numbing cream I had a cream numbed in 5 mins didn't feel a thing, but I'm blonde and had blonde colour today very dark but they will fade luckily she talked about shape strokes colour she explained they will be very very dark d a y 1 etc but so far I'm very happy I'm shocked such a good microblader didn't do all mine did????? Didn't warn you of pitfalls as I go back in 5 /6 weeks for a second apt by then should be healed if very dark I can have a lighter shade put through (shading done too if I want) which will lighten them has your therapist not mentioned this? I didn't have shading done on my first apt , because I'm so blonde and it gave me option to have in case I need pigment taken down. A goo d therapist will explain this to a blonde lady. So again shocked you were not offered those options?????? I paid prob half what you did in London and I have options you should def have same options. Xxx

I would not have noticed had you not said something. I like the shape and I think the color (with makeup) looks flattering. I would go with option one or three. As you get more color with summer approaching and they continue to fade, you may find that you don't need the color camouflage. I'm 55 and have very dark brows (dark brown almost black), and they are still quite full. Anytime I have used a brow powder or pencil the color of my actual brow hair I think they look way too dark and am horrified (scouse brow anyone?). Now I use a clear gel or one that is lighter than my brow color (ABH granite) and am happier with the result. Thank you for sharing this procedure. It looks quite painful.

I'm 54. I commented on another post 'Brave!' I take my hat off to you that you have the balls to try these things - hence the Brave comment! I'm the type of person that reads and watches all these possibilities with cosmetics - and does nothing! Because I'm too bloody scared lol! So respect to you Nadine and thanks also for sharing your journey with us.
Personally, watching you in the video I think they look absolutely fine. Close up, they are slightly (really only very slightly) scary looking. I definitely don't think that they look too dark as you have them in this video. It's really whatever bothers you though, but I would say Ride It Out and see how they go over time. Love watching your stories. You are a very informed and inspiring person, and extremely beautiful too! Thank you.

As a 37 year old, I think they look ok on you. But its easy for me to say, because it isnt my face. My brows are fair and sparse, so have been seriously considering microblading. I havent plucked (god, Im so punny!) up the courage yet though, nor found someone I truly trust. Will look into Suman though, looks like a really good job on you.
If I was you I would let them fade naturally. Your brown eyes actually compliment them and doesnt look off, like some do.
