Fun Fact about Sonic Dimensions, they couldn't use the genesis tracks due to them not owning the rights, so they made unique compositions for each of the zones (not counting labyrinth or emerald coast)
The Sonic Dimensions versions of Chemical Plant, Ice Cap and Sandopolis are so underrated!
I mean seeing as how traveller's tale (the developers of the lego games) originally made sonic 3d blast and sonic r why didn't they think to use music from those games? Hell they could have taken more music from the adventure games and later 3D games. They didn't have to focus on the genesis music or even compose new tracks.

The Ice Cap remix really hit a sweet spot for me, I love it.
@@AutZentus That's not how music licensing works. 3D Blast was still composed by Jun Senoue, regardless of whether or not it was developed at TT. Sonic R especially would be a nightmare, as then there's a singer involved.
Just because a company developed a game, doesn't mean it owns that game's music. That's why there's no Sonic 1 and 2 music in Frontiers' Jukebox, those games were composed by Masato Nakamura.

Lego games are criminally underrated. Also just a reminder that the Lego Marvel and Lego DC games are the closest we have to an open world Superheroes games with over 30+ characters where you can also make your own Custom Character and free roam as it too! Lego have unlimited potential.
LEGO DC Supervillains was such a great game on my first run that I platinumed it and it takes a lot to convince me to go for platinum trophies.

Sonic dimensions was actually what got me into sonic as a whole, I just got really excited for that level pack for no reason when it released and Sonic's been one of my favorite series ever since

Excellent video, mate. Sonic Dimensions is a hidden gem of the franchise that sadly goes unheard of within the fanbase.
I remember it well, Autumn of 2016. Me and my best friend were 12 and had just started secondary school, a turbulent time in our lives as we struggled to adjust to the change. Our escape was our mutual obsession, Lego Dimensions, and as HUGE Sonic fans we made sure that we got our hands on the Sonic pack ASAP lol. I think you've said it better than I possibly could in the video, so I won't go on about how incredibly fun the expansion is and the love and effort poured into the pack. It's a great childhood memory for me.
Regrettably I sold my Lego Dimensions collection in 2018 for around 40 quid (that hurts to recall knowing how expensive they are now), but earlier this year I set out to rebuild my collection, with the Sonic pack being my first priority. Cost me 50 quid!! Worth it though, especially with how rare and difficult to play it will become in the future.
Sorry for rambling, but the point is that Sonic Dimensions means a lot to me and many others, hence why it's awesome we're seeing more videos like this one bringing it to light!
Bro I feel you on that! I'm a huge Lego, and sonic fan, I've bugged my mom to buy me so many packs that I honestly kinda feel bad about it now. 😅
I played the game for weeks on end and I was loving every second. I remember when Superman, and gamer kid, their very own original character dropped. And getting those characters day 1.
And after some time had passed, the trailer for year 2 of dimensions had dropped. And I was hyped to see Finn, and Jake, and the A team make it in. But then it showed Sonic pull up at the end and my mind was blown! I started counting the days until sonic dropped! I kept rewatching the gameplay showcase for sonics level over and over again until they finally gave us the character pack! Needless to say it was everything I wanted and more 10/10!
Selling it for 40 is criminal, better than wahat happened to mine though

7:12 The reason Chaos fights you is because its Chaos from another dimension where he still exists and the rage was not tamed. Its why Eggman was able to pull Robo and Mecha as he pulled them from Dimensions where they werent destroyed. As for the emeralds, Eggman wanted them to supercharge the Keystone so he could do more with it
Fun fact: if you turn super and start a race at the same time, you get to play as super sonic without turning back to normal. It may be purely cosmetic, but I used to enjoy playing as him.
This pack was nothing short of extremely fun, to the point that I'd spend hours playing this game almost every day doing nothing but running around the adventure worlds and seeing how well I could carry momentum in my jumps to reach new areas without a flying vehicle.
Sonic is also a great tool for if you need to grind collecting studs for a while, as his speed and the feature of stuff respawning after a while outside of the render distance made a no brainer to get my stud count to an insane number. Last time I played Dimensions, I think I had 2-5 *million* studs collected.
My PS4 is half melted and retired now, but I still have all of the game pieces and toy pad. Maybe I'll try hooking it up to the PS5 and playing the game again one day.
I thought you were wrong about Sonic's controls because I remember him controlling really badly in this game.
Then I remembered I only played the Wii U port.

Lego Dimensions in general is super underrated. Honestly if not for the toys-to-life gimmick (and the overpriced sets that resulted from it) the game would probably be one of the most popular Lego games in existence. Its a shame that it will likely never get a sequel.
Its a game where you can play as Batman, Homer Simpson, Sonic the Hedgehog, Doctor Who, and Chell from Portal all at the same time... and that makes it one of a kind!
And Sonic is one of the best characters. Yes he's game breaking but that's what makes him fun! XD
A lego dimensions sequel without the TTL woulld go crazy, it'll never happen though liscencing is too crazy these days

Agreed! Sonic Dimensions is surprisingly one of the best Sonic Experiences. When it was being teased, I didn’t think much of it and was just happy we finally had an official Lego Sonic. But after release, it blew away all my expectations

The reason why this feels like such a passion project is because the lego developers (Travellers Tales) had worked on sonic games back in the 90s. Most notably being the devs who made Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic R
Oh god i need to replay this thing don’t I. I don’t remember ANY of this but it looks like something I’d appreciate WAY more now that I’m a little older. And I also just remembered Dimensions being really fun, and I kind of just want to replay it.

Bro! As someone who obsoletely loves Lego Dimensions. I am so happy to start seeing Lego Dimension Videos in my recommend page, despite the game releasing 8 years ago, and being discontinued in 2017. I've recently over the summer been revisiting Lego Dimensions again, and it's been absolutely amazing replaying my childhood LEGO game.
I know this is far fetched but I genuinely do think that if enough credit to the game is given near 10 years after its initial release. I genuinely do think that TT games and LEGO could possibly make a sequel. Yea sure they wouldn't use the same toys to life concept (it being one of the main reasons why the game discontinued in the first place- aka the price to get full access to all the games content). But even a LEGO game with massive crossovers.
Not many people know this, but LEGO Dimensions did have a season 3 roster ready to go that got leaked before deciding to stop the game. Which really annoys me now knowing who they are, (I'll make a list of them below)
But yea, solid video man. Subbing now and looking forward to seeing more content from ya soon!

Sonic Dimensions was my introduction to the Sonic Franchise. So it’s nice to see someone praising it.
Fun fact. The people who worked on Lego Dimensions also worked on Sonic R way back in the day, hence Sonic referencing the music.
Lego Dimensions is my favourite Sonic game and one of my favourite games of all time. I bought the game because of Sonic and I've loved it ever since. I've since managed to get every female character in the game and I'm very close to getting all the male characters too. It's so nice to finally see a positive video about the game and I hope it'll interest someone enough to check the game out.
I wish the game kept going though because the characters planned for Year 3 are insane.
I really want to see a fleshed out LEGO Sonic game that includes the other playable characters in the series. It’s a format I could see work with the other characters. Silver using psychokinesis to build LEGO structures just makes so much sense.
And now we wait for the stand-a-lone LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog game that will DEFINATLY be made.

This was pretty much my introduction to the Sonic series and is why I am a sonic fan today. Sure I knew what sonic was as a kid, but I was not all that interested until he appeared in a Lego game and it finally clicked to me “wait, this hedgehog guy is kind of cool.“
The DLC also has one of my favorite boss fights in the entire series. I love the fight where you go against sonics three most famous robot counterparts. Not only is it a nice piece of nostalgia, but it also works quite well on a game design standpoint. The first wave introduces how you fight the boss, the second phase builds upon that by having the robot actively attack you in different ways, and then metal sonic is the final progression of that attack pattern taken to its most deadly level.
Also the fight against chaos was pretty enjoyable. It’s sad that we live in a world where a Lego game in which sonic is a guest character gets a chaos Bossfight, but sonic forces doesn’t

When I first played a level pack in this game I was amazed that it was a full length story mission and not an extra side mission like other lego games and the campaign/world has so many references and easter eggs, they went full out on these packs.

I remember when I was playing Lego Dimensions with my cousins, and we were having a blast in the Sonic expansion. I was having the time of life and then she asked me, "How's it feel knowing this is the best 3D Sonic game?". Mind you this was fresh after Rise of Lyric, so I got a little miffed by it, but we played it for a laugh.
Years later, I asked her the same question but with Sonic Frontiers. She gave me the same response.
This was nice watching considering i know nothing about sonic dimensions, its actually cool how hard they went for sonic here, im upset i didnt see anything about this sooner.

I assume why Chaos is fighting you, was because this is a Chaos from a dimension where he was still angry/was still going through the events of SA1.
As a kid, I wanted to see Sonic LEGO sets _so_ badly, I would play with differently coloured 4x4's with tiles on top, pretending they were different Sonic characters, and I'd make cars and devices and weapons for them to use. It was sick.
Anyways, it makes me happy to see somebody, _anybody_ talking about this crossover and singing its praises, cus it meant the world to me when it came out. And I'm thrilled they're picking the crossover back up after so long.
I think its safe to say that lego and sonic are best friends.
I always loved Lego and with that ofc Lego games, Lego dimensions is my all times favorite game and it is what made me love Sonic as well, now i'm both a Lego fan and a Sonic fan, since 2016 I've wanted more of Lego Sonic, now it's 2023 and the Lego/Sonic collab is stronger than ever with new sets (finally I can have a Tails minifigure, I only had to wait 7 years) and soon skins for Superstars and i'm all for it, can't wait to see more Lego Sonic, I will forever love Lego Sonic Dimensions

I was so hyped when I saw sonic in that lego dimensions trailer, and I got it that same Christmas now that was a fun time, but didn’t beat it lol, I got stuck at metropolis
I remember getting the sonic Lego set for Lego dimensions, I got excited, and start playing it with my brother. It was a blast. I will never forget the excitement and fun moment with this pack. Hopefully, in the future, we can get something like this again, I really miss this moment
For the record about the story just... stopping? There was very much supposed to be a 3rd wave with a campaign designed to wrap up the game and unite the cast from the 2 previous years. I BELIEVE the intent was to continue Sonic's story in the main story, probably with new Sonic characters sold to pad out the roster.
A recommended video only an hour after I came out and it is amazing

Goes without saying at this point, Tt Games is synonymous with Lego lol. I'm more surprised to learn that they developed Sonic R.

To this day I'm still trying to hunt this pack down, but it sold out soooo quick that it's become nigh impossible to find for a good price. But I'm not giving up, as I've been dying to finally try this expansion out!💙
Mans forgot to mention in the final part that, there is also a Lego collaboration with Sonic Dash and Sonic Speed Battle (there are rumors about a Lego Shadow colab soon, but I jest), it's not that important, but just pointing that out
This is quite a solid game. It's not perfect, but I do enjoy it. It had a lot of love but into it. That final boss with Super Sonic vs. Perfect Chaos with "Open Your Heart" is awesome.
