The problem with most of these reviews and I suppose only owners can tell us, is what are they like during their lifetime. I mean people who've owned one for 5/6/7 years or more, how many issues have you had.I'm certainly not stupid enough to buy a new car or even a semi new car. 80/90K on the clock and 7/8 yr old for dirt cheap is the way to go, provided you get a reliable car. You pay a fraction of the price.
isnt a gambling when buying a used car, second or third buyer? The previous owners driving habits etc. or can you solely rely on a brand, for example a mazda with 80/90 k on the back?
I recently had this as a hire car for a couple of days. Very impressive. It has easily the best diesel engine I've driven - really quick, good economy and relatively quiet. The handling is impressive and I loved the steering. The downsides for me were its size - it was like driving a boat and not easy to park, and the omission of DAB radio. The nav and screen are in need fo an update as well.
The bird shit is an additional extra for the more luxurious model :P helping the car stick to the road better and handle those tight right hand corners...
I haven't researched the dimensions, but on the street the 6 looks "bigger" than a 3-series or A4. (The back seat space seems to support that, as shown in the review.) There's a wide, open sense to the cabin. This new 6 and the s60/v60 demonstrate that sometimes change of ownership of a marque can shake things up in a very positive way.
Just checked and for what it's worth, the outside dimensions are close to a Mercedes E sedan. Rebecca's opinion is it's second only to a 3 series saloon for handling. As it's bigger, that's high praise. Mercedes E: L 192" W 73.1" H 57.1" Wheelbase 113.2" Mazda 6: L 191.5" W 72.4" H 57.1" WB 111.4"
Yes, I have been waiting for this review from you guys! Really love this new mazda 6 saloon model, it is gorgeous. Given that it is a Japanese make, it should be reliable, and competitively priced. I'm not surprised to see that it is award winning. If I were in the market for a new car I'd definitely go for a Mazda or a Lexus.
4- and finally : I was not complaining about the idea of comparing both cars, in fact the whole concept of reviewing cars is based in part of it on comparing cars to each others, as you know of course as an expert in this field. The thing is that you seemed to put Mazda before BMW in your compartion , I prefer to put it the other way around in terms of handling .
I have a Renault Laguna III from 2008 full option and it looks very similar in all aspect as the Mazda6 , i had the Mazda6 from 2002 i was very happy and with my Renault Laguna i feel that i'm in my old Mazda days back . Glad i sold my VW Golf 2005, VW is so boring to drive nowadays . What i'm not ok with that girl in this video is that Mazda6 is to compare as a VW Passat , a Passat is more expensive if you need a full option car which a Japanese car such as Mazda is way cheaper even the repairs are cheaper by Mazda . I will never buy German cars anymore they all look similar , has no action drive feeling + are way too expensive for what you get . Except for a Porsche that is the only German i want to try or buy but needs to win the lotery lol.
It's carbuyer UK. They use the units commonly bandied around in the UK, is that unreasonable? We don't use litres per 100km and our litres aren't always the same as other litres anyway.
If you're watching this because you're looking at a used version of this car, know that the diesel model has a lot of issues. The petrol model is more reliable.
Hello All, Firstly I know whats on the window :-) Looking at getting this in Jan 2014 but I would love to hear from people who are driving it now to see what they think. I would be going for Sport SE with 19 inch alloy. Would like to hear honest comments please.
Should have been a car of the year, not that run-of-the-mill Golf. This brought something truly fresh in terms of design, made big inovations in engine technology and energy techonolgy and is absolutely phenomenal to drive. Add lots of equpment and exceptional quality and reliability and you got almost perfect car.
please if you're explaining how much fuel it uses up.. try to convert your 'miles to the galon' into 'litres per 100 km' because alot of countries dont use miles and or gallons
I have 2 gripes with this new Mazda 6. why no hatchback, a family saloon doesn't make sense, if the estate costs the same no issue but its a lot more. Also the 2.2 diesel engine is prone to self destruction, mine needed a new engine at 20k and a friends at 75k, when I have never had an engine failure in nearly 30 years. If its out of warranty or you didn't check the oil every week the engine rebuild could cost you up to £4k.
MegaVector2011 OK, Its the same engine, Mazda cant have fixed it as they refused to acknowledge there was ever a fault in the design. If they have fixed an issue I would be really pleased if you could supply me the details as my friend is currently taking Mazda to court and evidence that there was an issue Mazda acknowledged would help him tremendously.
It's not the same engine. The MK 3 engine is a totally new one with a very low compression ratio putting much less strain on the DPF. There was a fault with the old one, the DPF failed regularly and you are right - Mazda wouldn't acknowledge it, very frustrating. It happened to me, I had the DPF replaced by an independent specialist at a cost of £400 and had no further trouble. Happens with many modern diesels unfortunately.
No hatch but there's the 3 for that desire. With those full folding rear seats you get about half the hatch benefits anyway, so there's that. Hope they'll bring the wagon to the US - if the sedan does well it enough they just may.
The Ford's interior isn't ugly by any stretch of the word, but it is a bit "gimmicky". It has a lot going on and the actual switch gear in the Mazda feels nicer and is much, much easier to use. In any case, both use similar high quality plastics and vinyls and offer very solid build quality.
The design looks good in 2022, getting mine on Tuesday. It’s a pity it’s being discontinued soon. My favorite design by far, along with the also discontinued 2015+ Mondeo
2- FWD cars have their own good personality if they are will made. In fact Few FWD cars like focus ST that handles very good and drives as fun as RWD, so it is not right to pr-judge a car just because it is RWD And say it is better than other cars .
In my country, saloons dont work as family cars. They are only used for bussines people at work or people without family. I like the Mazda wagon though.
then i am paying extra 2500$ for 6 airbags and ( ABS - ESB , EBD , TC ...ate) well i am fine with it , because with all that i get the high quality interior and the very good warranty, not to mention the way it rides, feels , and other properties you certainly know about them ..... So i think putting those equipments by those companies as standard is due to high standards strategy rather than getting some extra money ....
Can`t really focus on what she is saying because of that bird shit on the window lol
+Marc W... birds love it :D lol
same
same here :) btw facelift of this is really nice
there's a piece of bird-shit staining on the window
That's an optional extra!

Spot on

"were its size - it was like driving a boat". Clearly never been to Australia or the US. The Mazda 6 is a medium size car here.
How much does the bird shit cost? And more importantly how well does it compare with the rest of the bird shits on other cars?
+tavi921 I bet if it was a VW they would be praising it.
😂😂😂
The Beauty and The Bird Poo.
The bird shit is an additional extra for the more luxurious model :P helping the car stick to the road better and handle those tight right hand corners...
You guys got your eyes on the bird poo and I've got my eyes on Rebecca boo
Why do you guys ALWAYS have one of the first new car reviews? You guys are awesome!
No, you’re awesome
Just keep reviewing, no one saw the bird shit on the window :))
I did see the bird shit.
2:27 Bird pop on window lol

Mercedes E:
L 192"
W 73.1"
H 57.1"
Wheelbase 113.2"
Mazda 6:
L 191.5"
W 72.4"
H 57.1"
WB 111.4"
Apparently I heard from a friend that bird shit on windows is good luck. Not sure what type of good luck it is to have your car shit on though..
Their mpg's differ from ours(U.S.). It has to do with the gallon being different than ours, that's why the higher mpg's in U.K.
You look very nice Rebecca. Great review as always. I filmed the details of the Mazda 6
which would you go for..... the Mazda 6 2.2 or the BMW 520d?
Yes, I have been waiting for this review from you guys! Really love this new mazda 6 saloon model, it is gorgeous. Given that it is a Japanese make, it should be reliable, and competitively priced. Carbuyer must be one of the best car channels on youtube!!
The reviewer is sooo hot I found myself looking at her and not the car... Carbuyer should put her on more often!!!
The bird poo is part of the entry model
The best salon car I ever seen this is perfect the price the interior and so much beauty
Mazda's new design concept is much better than previous. An awesome small car company.
Such brilliant weather for a review!
I kind of agree with you re the interior, the exterior is fantastic in my eyes, love it's look and yes the critics seem to love it.
The most balanced review I've heard so far, well done!
God this car is brilliant
4- and finally :

That's a really nice car. I wish mazda could offer a 4x4 version and I'd but it in a heart beat.
Best looking car from Mazda for a while. Really nice upgrade, though I too agree that 148 bhp is a tad on the low side

imperial gallon is bigger than US gallon. Perhaps also different drive cycles when testing mileage?
does anyone knows if the DPF Issues have been resolved in this diesel engines?
I know this was serious Issue in previous diesel models
2:25 a bird pooped on the window of a BRAND NEW MAZDA!
Mazda is finally living up to those "zoom zoom" commercials. Car looks great.
Carbuyer : Will there be a review of the updated Mazda6?
I want one. I want one so badly. :(
would you look at that... Nice weather in the UK?
Sorry, I got distracted by the bird poo
Can I chose whether I use a key ignition or a Push button start?
No.
Is there an optional air suspension for this model?
Love this Mazda 6.... I think mazda nailed it this time for this zoom zoom...
What I don't understand about CarBuyer is why do the go for Diesel models and more important why do they say performance. Torque maybe but gas wins
Mazda 6 or Skoda Octavia ? Wich one is better ?
I agree! Not sure how they came to that conclusion...
i feel like the day i want to buy a car i have every single detail to look after a car thanks to carbuyer ^^
the interior of this car won one of the best looking interior for 2013 cars
It's carbuyer UK. They use the units commonly bandied around in the UK, is that unreasonable? We don't use litres per 100km and our litres aren't always the same as other litres anyway.
such a sleek executive sedan; fluid lines of the i40, mixed with the style of the is250. Great work Mazda, I love it.
If you're watching this because you're looking at a used version of this car, know that the diesel model has a lot of issues. The petrol model is more reliable.

WTF? NO BANANAS?!?!?!?
Why mention only the 150hp diesel? GB doesn't get the 175hp one?
You need to see this car in red to appreciate it even more
does clutter means mess?
Alex Norway yes

switch to decaf, you can barely sit still when talking, lol.
Can anybody tell me what the 2.0 petrol is really like on fuel its one thing on reviews it's another on realistic everyday driving?
great review and a great reviewer :)
Mazda is the future of cars.
could someone please explain to me why an ignition button is considered as a feature of a car and not just a secondary gadget..
please if you're explaining how much fuel it uses up.. try to convert your 'miles to the galon' into 'litres per 100 km' because alot of countries dont use miles and or gallons
Does the bird drop on the window come standard ? 4:22

Rubbish. Armchair reviewer.
You haven't ever driven one obviously. The DPF was the only issue with the old one, that has been ironed out now.
MegaVector2011 OK, Its the same engine, Mazda cant have fixed it as they refused to acknowledge there was ever a fault in the design. The Mazda Sky-Active engines really are step up in Diesel tech.

what is large for you then? trailer truck?
I like Mazda
Great rear. Oh, and the car's rearside looks good as well...
Loved both the car and the reviewer! :)
This is one hell of a car im loving it
"You'd be ticking boxes all day long to match the same options in VW Passat" that's classic :-)
You Guys could show the cars on night time, with the lights on, so we could see how it looks!
She meant the car of the year in its class ... Genius
I'm so not used to watching these reviews with sunshine in them :).
Air conditioning! Did she really have to point that out?
Absolutely agree! I like the interior.
Good comment, this is the main reason why my wife and I stick to japanese cars, (Honda). Unbeaten reliability, superb engineering.
Am I the only one who sees the shit on the door?!?!?!
Even better dynamically than Ford Mondeo!
anyone noticed Matt has not been doing reviews here for quite awhile now
The reliable contender the Mazda 6 remains.
The design looks good in 2022, getting mine on Tuesday. It’s a pity it’s being discontinued soon. My favorite design by far, along with the also discontinued 2015+ Mondeo
Bird poo is an optional extra... :D
I saw that Mazda6 the other day in red. It looks amazing in that color.
does tad mean little?
Ridzky Asdi yes
This car in red with beige leather is quite possibly the sexiest thing I've ever seen...
it looks fantastic
Trust me we have one most comfortable seats yet!
Well done again!

UK gallons are different than US gallons :-) 51 mpg UK is about 42 mpg US.
Have you seen the interior
what about the price? Haven't you seen it?

Your litres are not always the same as other litres? How is that even possible?
Best car in it's category
"easy to drive" as opposed to what exactly
u can usually see cameraman's bits or reflections in those kind of vids
When is it coming to India? :)(
Did I hear that right? 2:45 she says 67.3 MPG?
if she review a used Geo Metro,
she would make it look cool too.
Great car, though the 2l engine might be restrictive to countries that heavily tax engine displacement.
