Make sure you plug in that USB stick every week and do a back up or you'll get red alerts all over the place.
When I had my Cascadia I bought a splitter for the computer port and put the entire connector inside the kick panel so it’s not sticking out. Then I brought the cable up to the top of the dash. Makes it easier to unplug when you’re out of the truck and you won’t kick it with wet shoes when trying to press the clutch.
Thought about it. That's next on the list
Another plus to having the Garmin e log is if you forget to go on yard move you can switch it over and it will count those couple of minutes that you forgot even if you drove as long as you didn't drive 20 mph

Oooooo shiny new GPS. I got a older Dezl model and I’m noticing the “updates” aren’t really updates. There’s still some new roads that are missing. Hopefully that’s not a way of Garmin making me upgrade to a new one after spending 5 Bengies on it.

Hi! I believe it was the Garmin dezl otr 780. Yes very expensive. Still cheaper than a Qualcomm tho. I quit the game and drive for Walmart now. Love it.
@@ThisTruckingLifedid you sign on as an owner op or did you sell you tractor? I'm getting back in after 2 year break working local. Been hearing a lot of negative from people but I know everyone has a different business model and not everyone will have the same experience success or failure.
@@timwortman5341 I'm a Walmart private fleet driver now best choice I ever made the trucking industry is going to the illegals they run 10 trucks with one only insured and run sub $1 per mile rate you can't compete with that kind of business plan unless you have really good contract loads so don't get out there unless you do already have really good paying work lined up that's just my opinion take it however you want if you feel like you want to come to Walmart I can help you out

I used the otr 780 and a smartphone. It worked fine but I'm out of that nonsense. I'm home more and make way more money at Walmart

Yes on the GPS there is an area where you can punch in your information every time you Fuel and it'll allow you to do quarterly reports that you need to file

Does anyone have send last 7 days to a patrol officer? Or FMCSA? I have had this Garmin Elog for about 2 years and I haven’t tried to send elogs to see ig this works.
I had mine on an old phone with no Sim and using a hot spot to it and it would not let me send it to the officer...I could send an email but he was like no there should be something that pops up to relative to this weigh station. I wrote garmin and they said they do not recommend using it with a hot spot

Yes, all you have to do is go to that app when you fuel and put the info in. And it separates the quarters so you can easily get the info uou need each quarter

Can you use this in a ram 3500 pickup?
I do not know, I don't believe so because it requires a nine pin or an adapter I guess could be made but yeah it plugs into the Diagnostics port of a semi and

Yeah! It's a slight learning curve but you'll learn to appreciate the log editing you can do.

@@neilanderson6818 I need to make a better video...I had used two cameras to film the setup and lost half the footage got mad and just posted this monstrosity. Using bluetooth you have to sync the elog to a cell phone or tablet. On the device you synced yo you must create a admin account. It'll ask you if your going to do 7 day log or 8 day and some other questions. Then you have to make a driver account. From the driver account you will operate the elog system. Click on everything get to know what it does. Every week you have to back up or validate the data by installing a thumb drive to the elog. Hope this helps

@@ThisTruckingLife I was like, "this would've been funny if I wasn't driving and trying to figure out if the garmin is worth it at the same time!" But really there are no videos about the garmin that pop up, so it would be a great service if you do a walk through and poke at garmin for not having any good videos.

Garmin elogs are junk , I've got 2 because they can only pair with one device, they don't advertise that tho. A holes .and I always have to create a administrator because it always screws up. And the support at garmin don't know much either. Nothing but troubles .
A small price to pay for no fees ever! But my elog is paired to my cellphone and to my GPS.
How did you learn how to use it? i bought one 2 weeks ago and all it does it beep and say i cant drive.
@@neilanderson6818 they are a pain in the butt to use and they can only be used with one device. I have one for my phone and I bought another one for a tablet . I got them figured out now . If it beeps ,it's not connecting to your device. Make sure you are syncing the right way. Sounds like it's not synced to a device

@@kellykolnes1954 Im pretty sure its connected. But the first day i had it, i put it in without knowing anything about it. Got frustrated and left it in there. Came back a few days later and all it did was beep. Im pretty sure it was because i didnt take it out of on duty. So it has an error saying that I was on duty for 100+ hours. Even now when i change it back to not driving, it says there is the error of unidentified hours.
