Thank you for this video! I've only had lamb once or twice and I remember liking it. I want to try to cook lamb but I'm so afraid of ruining an expensive meat, so I haven't tried yet. I'm used to oven baking chicken, reverse sear steak, and crockpot chuck roasts. I have zero skills on the grill.
I’ve never had gamey lamb or muttered. I think it taste like lamb or mutton should taste. I do not mind stronger tasting mutton. It is how you cook it.
I don’t buy hardly any meat without the bone and i love the fat, so i don’t remove it. The bone and fat provides tremendous flavor, if seasoned properly.
cut the fat off? hell no, just drench the top fatty layer with olive oil, garlic, thym, and other spices, treating it like Porkchop skin. Comes out crispy and juicy.
@@thomas25082 get a fresh cut and smoke it. Get the internal temp right. Little cayenne, little lemon pepper, some creole seasoning, cinnamon and cinnamon sugar on top. Put some liquid smoke on it b4 you season it.
The gamey flavor in Lamb is unique and delicious. It's like eating Steak but with a bold herbal taste to it that compliments the added spices and seasonings. Masking the gamey flavor is like trying to make Chicken taste like Beef. People who don't like the taste of Lamb have shitty taste buds and should not be trusted in their opinion of food lol

@@kingimmortal2012 Lol barnyard, that’s a new one. It’s an acquired taste that you gotta learn to appreciate. I find it similar to the taste of Venison. Its gaminess also depends on a lot of factors from how it was raised, butchered, and prepared. The grade quality will also make a difference too since most of the smell comes from the fat. None the less, Lamb racks are delicious cooked medium rare.
lamb is delicious and very tasty. I also happen to come from a culture that eats a lot of lamb. although there some good info, like about the fat, there also lie in this video. like rest the meat 1 hour before cooking. You don't need to do that. Also science based chefs like alton brown, kenji Lopez-alt, Helen Rennie, and Herald McGee, plus others, have provided that to be a myth.
You have to spell it out for some people....They will take it out of the freezer & throw it in the pan or on the grill. I always take my meat out & let it get to room temp. It only makes sense really. Lamb should be treated with more respect than steak or chicken...cause if you mess it up...well...you threw your money away.
@@RyanL230 gaminess is an acquired taste, it’s probably something that you’d only like if you’re really open minded or if you grew up eating things like this. if you eat more domesticated things, you probably won’t like it.

I wonder if people in the west eat lamb meat Raw . In my part of the world of you cut the meat and it's pink inside it's raw . Somebody correct me if I am wrong
Yes, some of us do. The only time I eat raw lamb is in a Mediterranean dish called Kibbeh Nayyeh which is delicious. Raw is when the meat is not cooked at all. Rare to Medium Rare is when it is pink inside which is still good and the best way to eat red meat.
What's your favorite lamb dish?
I’ve made lamb rib chops with homemade chimichurri.
The whole lamb roasted over charcoal.
Shoulder chops, leg chops, or roast leg of lamb.
