I don't think they're trying to compete against moped style e-bikes except for the speed. It's a lot safer being visible to other drivers and pedestrians with the bigger wheels and I get into a lot more close calls with my 20" wheel bikes with drivers and pedestrians not seeing me. The larger wheels also give you more security and stability at higher speeds when going over cracks, bumps, potholes, etc and smaller wheels have more risk of throwing you off the bike or crashing. But yea, they really do need to move the controller to the bottom downtube.
If you can go 35 miles an hour as this bike goes I’ll take the bigger tires. Sand drifts at on bike path’s are better to handle as well with26/4 tires. My other mountain bike has the smaller tires which are ok on city street but not on beach path or Forrest and gravel roads. 2 different bikes for two different purposes. That being said thanks you for the video. Helped me make up my mind. Wired cruiser it is.
I'm really loving my Freedom. I do agree with the rear suspension. I had one of the ones with the wrong shock but once that was free replaced i can jump off curbs fine. I did swap the handlebars for a more aggressive mountainbike feet and made the bike feel less big but yeah still a very large bike. I wanna get a dropper seat post to make it easier at stop lights. Upgrading to a more sturdy mounted headlight is needed and i plan on swapping the rear gearing too.

You will never want to ride a 20x4 bike again! So comfortable and you can roll over anything. If you are tall enough to handle the bike, get it! I think NPL may be a little on the small side he would do better on the Wired Cruiser, as would anybody who can’t easily mount a big bike.

(surron is 30lbs heavier for your staircase meneuvering adverntures) I'd want 20x4 for personal and overall reasons. Lighter weight of 1000w or less motors and extra smaller batteries for extreme range days is adequate power for me. 2000w will fit in a 20x4 wheel too. Even more effective torque. Your suspension comments are very valuable. The suspended triangle format has more effective travel. 26x4.8 with this motor would fit well. Even more speed, and more off road confidence.
I have a 26x4 Fat Tire E-Bike Just put it in " walk mode" or pedal assist 1 when walking up the stairs, it takes a few time to get it smooth but alot easier then pushing the beast up the stairs 😆
It seems like a great value, and is for what others are asking for less of an ebike with a bigger price. That in itself has to be taken advantage of by intelligent ebike manufacturers as the market is there to be taken over by more honest prices. The 2 things I don’t like about the bike is the 4” width tires, and the weight. Had they made the same exact ebike for 20lbs less I’d had purchased. Think about it you could then add in another 1000w hub drive in the front that peak to the same amount as the back while adding in another battery. And only add it in when you wanted super range. I am interested in a mid drive for my next ebike while still holding onto the hub drive as it is fun & easy to pedal or not as it is a cadence sensor.
Damn that's a bit weird geometry on the rear triangle not allowing much rear suspension travel... Guess they didn't foresee somehow the controller box being in the way lol. Hmmm... One solution potentially i see is using 26 x 3 tire on the rear instead, so you get at least 1 inch of more travel... Man that's a bit annoying. Bet with slick tires it'd go even faster though.
i had a problem with it and wired sent me a bigger shock and i have no trouble now the service crushes everyone out there period also I'm not out there jumping I'm riding the rode and bike trails
Super73 R/RX also have 2000 watt peak motors. The reason this bike is faster aside from clear weight advantage is the 60v battery. Super73 only has 48v
The good thing is that the issues(besides the large wheels) are changed/ fixed in the newer edition! The clearance from the back wheel to that black box is much better in the new one. And they switched to a better rear shock. I purchased this bike and will have beginning of the new year👍I used to have a trek mountain non ebike years ago and liked it but after It was stolen out my shed I got lazy and out of shape. I still think having an ebike can still benefit you exercise wise . Does this have pedal assist or just either or?? I don't even know much about the bike yet even tho I bought it lol. I purchased the black one
I've had the freedom and the cruiser . Adjust your p settings. I'm gps at 44.7 mph and I'm a 230lb tree trunk! You can top out the settings and go much faster and your a lot lighter than I am. I got the performance setting's here on you tube. If you're only going 35 something is wrong bud...!! Citizen Cycle even showed 42mph
I’m 200lbs and easily hit 40 and peak well over 2300 watts, 1900 continuous. Have hit 45 on a slight downhill. Too bad he’s getting rid of it, it would be nice to see the Wired compared to those moped bikes. Probably would trounce most and that is his audience, so ….
@@jfly2249 that's more like it. These bikes are awesome! I added a 60volt 24ah battery from UPP batteries and date x fusion combiner for just under 500$ this bike doesn't need a front motor but JUST IMAGINE if it did... Wow
The mics are very interesting. I can see using configuration A on gravel where your bike noise is almost overpowering. Then on smoother pavement using configuration B. Of course, the wired freedom, not a lot more can be said for a very interesting bike for the price point.
One big positive left out of this video is the fact the Wired is an American owned Co. If you have a problem it's much easier to deal with them than China where most come from. I assume the wired is manufactured mostly in China though.
Honestly think im gonna get the bike because where I live is super mountainous with lots of downhills, so having that extra height and room would do me a world of difference. Its weight also isnt bad for what it is, very workable and I can see myself mounting a second battery on the rack if need be. I weigh around 120 pounds so having all that wouldnt be the craziest thing, but ill likely get a suspension seat post and a cushion for it to make up for the suspension.
i live in western pa hills everywhere i just went 30 miles up and down hills came back still had 4 green bars on the battery its a great bike and great value
@@snoozeuloose Hey do you know if this bike is made for the winter? I live in Alaska and I’m looking for a fat tire e-bike that can handle winter trail riding.
Isn't this bike more comparable to the RIP Current S, or the Himiway Zebra? Not sure why you are comparing it to moped style ebikes? The reasons you don't like it, the tire size, is one of the reasons why I do like this bike. There is a second shock that comes with the bike, I believe, so it pushes the tire out further away.
I'm looking to purchase an E-bike and really leaning on getting the Wired Freedom. My question is how are E-bikes in the rain? Do I need to wrap anything? How are the brakes wet? Does anyone know if they ship to Canada?
I bought a Senada Saber, 1000w sustained 1300w peak with a 48v/15ah battery with LG cells… am getting 34mph and throttle only 50mile range in eco mode… only paid $1100 per bike with sale (got two) it’s absolutely amazing how the saturation in the e-bike market has forced competitors to lower their prices. Would have got the Kepler if I didn’t need transportation so bad. 1000w sustained with a 48v quality UL battery will give you all the performance you need in my opinion. Only thing is Senada doesn’t use hydraulic brakes
And Hydraulic brakes are unfortunately the most important feature on an e-bike. Your life is worth than $200 to get a bike with hydraulic brakes. Should be required on all class 3 e-bikes.
You would change your mind In a heart beat about the performance if you rode a more powerful bike😂. I have a Kepler and it’s a beast, and I just ordered a freedom, waiting on it to ship. I couldn’t even imagine going back down to a 48v 15ah bike 🤢🤮
Thx for that review. Especially the comparison between the Bullet. I am debating which to buy. Would you say those moped bikes in general with the smaller tires are more confortable than the true bike frame bikes?
The negatives you mentioned are positives for me except for the rear suspension travel of course. I think they've since made a better design for newer models.
you need to learn the bike when giving a review it has walk mode to help you walk up steps now you have to turn the settings down because its fast but hold the down arrow down 2 seconds the same for cruise control and you would of went up the steps easy my wife also has a wired bike she's 5'3 and handles it like nothing did i mention she's also 53 years old
I like it but let’s be honest, we have no idea yet how these will hold up or last. Like a new model car, they say never buy the first ones, wait a year to hear the issues and then what they correct.

I RIDE A REGULAR MOUNTAIN BIKE YEAR ROUND AND THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR I SWITCHED TO A ELECTRIC BIKE AND I TOOK IT FOR A RIDE WITH NO POWER TURNED OFF AND BECAUSE OF THE WIEGHT OVER 100 LBS IT BLUE OUT MY HAMS I COULD NOT STAND WITH OUT FEAR OF MY LEGS CONTRACTING FOR 3 DAYS WAY TO HEAVE IF YOU GET STUCK PHONE A WHEEL CHAIR TAXI OR YOU WILL BE IN ONE AFTER A LONG RIDE. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ON YOUR CHANNEL GREAT STUFF
The Wired Freedom is in my top 5 ebikes, but didn't make the top 3 for two reasons: First, it wasn't in stock when I was ready to order, and second, its wonderfully powerful motor renders it illegal as an ebike on UT state roads and in all 3 federal public land jurisdictions. I expect cops will become informed about 750W motor limits and 28 MPH ebike speed limits as time passes, and I just don't want the hassle of being considered a motor vehicle or an OHV instead of an ebike. So given my use case, I ordered the Haoqi Cheetah. I wanted full suspension, 26"+ fat tires for UT mountain offroading, good climbing torque, and a battery of at least 17AH and 800WH, all for about $2k or less. I wanted a motor of no more than 750W so I'd be legal as an ebike (legal on all 3 jurisdictions of federal public land plus anywhere in UT that bikes can go). My top 3 also included the Cyrusher Montta and Freesky Wild Cat. Standover height needed to be 29" or less because at 5'10" my inseam is 30.75". I wanted fenders and rear rack, and preferred not just rear running lights, but brake lights. I preferred half-twist throttle and Shimano shifters, a seat that is height adjustable (so no minibike configurations), 5-level pedal assist, 180mm hydraulic disc brakes, and a display that shows volts remaining in the battery.
It's not illegal as long as it limits the amount of power to the motor (750w), regardless of how big it is. It's all in the settings. They have to prove you changed the settings since it was shipped as a class 2.
@@kekistanirefugee Having read the federal and Utah statutes, I disagree with your statement that ebikes with motors more powerful than 750w are "not illegal."
@@ritcheymt Your comprehension skills are lacking. If it ships as a class 2 it is legal, full stop, even if it's 10,000 watt motor. If you change the settings that's on you.
@@kekistanirefugee Title 43 Subtitle B Chapter II Subchapter H Part 8340 Subpart 8340 of U.S. Federal Code defines ebikes thusly: "Electric bicycle (also known as an e-bike) means a two- or three-wheeled cycle with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of not more than 750 watts (1 h.p.) that meets the requirements of one of the following three classes: (1) Class 1 electric bicycle shall mean an electric bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 20 miles per hour. (2) Class 2 electric bicycle shall mean an electric bicycle equipped with a motor that may be used exclusively to propel the bicycle, and that is not capable of providing assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 20 miles per hour. (3) Class 3 electric bicycle shall mean an electric bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 28 miles per hour."
@@ritcheymt Not sure what you are trying to prove here. You started by claiming I made a statement that I did not make. I'm not wrong. I think you continue to misunderstand my original statement 🤷 If you buy an Ebike with a 1500 watt motor that it is shipped as a class 2 (limited to 750 watts by the controller), it is LEGAL. Please stop trying to prove me wrong when you can't seem to grasping the concept.
You should try pushing a Surron or your DIY bike up those stairs? Much harder with the tiny wheels. Just a tad staged and melodramatic. I think the issue is that NPL weighs about 140lbs and is biased towards the little bikes, albeit ones that are heavier than the Wired.
I just got the CP Rogue and wondered if you had changed your rear shock for a bit larger. I think stock is 125 mm eye to eye and I ordered a 150 850 lb DNM.... it hasn't arrived and am wondering your thoughts
mic B for s little bike n road noise mixed. sounds good on a rough or loose gravel road? we then maybe mic A (?) nice you can swap back n forth when needed. about the stair climb? just a tip/suggestion ( I like ) to lightly throttle up to go when your read and want to go. the "walk" mode is too fast and still limited to on or off. I refer to walk mode as RUN mode as really? who walks 3.5 mph? my ebike peters out on my steep driveway when the batts no a fresh charge, so I brake, get off and twist the throttle just a bit and the ebike goes up the hill at my speed. . .
26 inch fat tires are safe. There is rubber on the road to stop in rain and snow. This bike is fast. To stop fast that requires contact with the road. Also, because it is fast poor road conditions come at you faster and sometimes cannot be avoided. Off road they definitely earn their keep. 20” tires will stop but won’t be as stable at the higher speeds this bike is capable of.
The xclass is also 2000 watt peak. Mine regularly pulls north of 2000 watts. The top speed is the same and based on the hand full of videos I’ve seen the xclass actually out accelerates the freedom. The biggest thing though is the freedom feels like a cheap Walmart bike with a motor attached. I was considering the freedom before I got my exclass but after seeing both the quality isn’t close imho.
Google “Ariel Rider problems”. 4 pages of complaints on BBB in only 4 years. That really sucks and I wouldn’t buy any Ariel Rider product as a result. Or do a TH-cam search and listen to all of the complaints. Yours might be perfect, a lot of people are having issues and experiencing bad customer service.
I like Ariel Rider bikes but i think i would buy this over an X-Class just because its an actual bike that you can adjust the seat height or even ad an additional suspension post. Riding in a comfortable position is key for me. Something like an X-class is horrible if you actually want to pedal and get some exercise.
@@elevenAD i guess it just depends on the rider with the xclass. My xclass step thru is perfectly comfortable to pedal and that is how I ride it pretty much 100% of the time. I ride for exercise primarily and at 5’11 it’s perfect for me. I’m sure if I was much taller that wouldn’t be the case but for me it’s an excellent pedaler. The issue with the freedom is it just feels cheaply made and the rear suspension is essentially useless. I would actually probably just go with the wired cruiser if I was getting a wired bike. Save a little weight and gain some rigidity vs a few mm of brick stuff rear suspension.
I'm in Australia, and from what I've been reading and google map checking, it leads me to think, (caviet emptor) buyer beware! As for the comments-LOL😂 Shipping to Australia? Don't bother, returns etc would be a financial nightmare for the buyer. I do buy online from the states and to name just one business that stands out is Archer Components. They have my respect and my money, need I say more. Watch them and learn how it's done I would suggest. 😊
Is anyone else feeling that the bike pulls to the left as the battery is not centered ? for longer rides, 40 miles I definitely felt it in the left arm and wrist.
Just a note about the larger wheels. The larger wheels make the top speed higher. As far as the suspension, lol. I guess not too many people have ridden a pedal bike without suspension. Bumps? stand off the seat. Sore bottom, buy a gel seat or seat cover.
If you don't like to pedal 20" wheels are fine. But if you do like to pedal 26" wheels are way better. On 20" wheels you'll be ghost pedaling way before max speed. The Wired goes 35 mph without pedaling. I can go faster than that pedaling in a tuck on my 750w 48v Troxus Explorer with gearing mods.
Don't get me wrong, fat tires are awesome when they are used properly but by no means should every bike come with fat tires lol. Imo most bikes shouldn't have fat tires. Oftentimes they are on a bike that shouldn't have them like a commuter or such. Also funny how you said that then your first complaint was about the fat tires. That makes a lot of sense smh lol.
Use your breaks to help get up stairs, what you do is you rock up the back tire, Stop that tire and lean the front tire forward while you switch between back and front tire stopping in a rhythmic motion. You will feel what I mean, it's the only way to get one of those hulks up some stairs!
I went with he Aventon Aventure 2...Loved the Wired Freedom but having that back tire so close to the control boxes just not safe or good. Also, Aventon just is well more connected in my area. Have 4 bike shops with staff trained for Aventon if I need work done, and getting parts is easier
You make up for bad or lack of suspension by using riding techniques. I converted my 2000 Schwinn Mesa to an E-bike and swapped out the standard fork for shocks, but the rear it's still hard tail sadly. It goes up to 32mph but up to 34 with a tail wind. I've gone over major potholes I couldn't avoid and you have to time is so you pull UP on the handlebars while standing slightly and let the rear wheel lightly go over the pothole. By standing the bike will rock back and forth slightly and quickly stabilize after the hole, then you can sit back down. This way the bike is not getting much shock to it and neither are you. I've gone over some deep potholes that even my 26inch tires could have gotten stuck in but by doing this I felt almost nothing. Even on my old Kawasaki 125 years ago I had to do this to.
If you fully unlock/program the settings to max power you can get 45 mph from this bike. Other TH-camrs have gone 45 on flat ground. Search how to unlock it.
The competition is really the Aventure, the Kepler and all the 26x4 fat tire bikes. The mopeds are for people who don’t want to pedal and are short or kids. Tall people look like clowns on these. My Freedom easily goes 40 and peaks well over 2300 watts not sure what’s wrong with yours. I can see how this bike might be bad news for the rav 1 and similar bikes as the Freedom easily out performs them. In my experience, the 26x4 is much more comfortable and stable than 20x4. The rear suspension needs to be firm because of the limited travel (couple inches up and down but limited latterly by the controller), but that’s what you want at high speed. Going to switch to 26x3.5 road tire to improve travel. Easily the most comfortable bike I’ve ridden, you should compare the ride to other 26x4 bikes. If I had to ride 15 miles on a little moped bike, it better be to the hospital to fix my back. I go over potholes that would swallow a rav 1
I own the wired ebike and the ariel kepler, that goes 35 plus miles per hour. It is a hard tail but better front forks and it was 1799 dollars the kepler is a better and proven bike.
If you add tax and all other cost. I went to order it and when it was all said and done not even close to $2000 more like $2500...I didn't order it too much $$$
I like the Freedom but I feel like the rear suspension is a gimmick. I don’t like the idea of the battery and controller being out in the open. If you get something caught in between the tire and controller I bet the tire will win. Do you think the controller could be moved?
Rear suspension actually really does work well at high speed. I added a Suntour seat post and now the ride is perfect. Moving to 3.5 inches will dramatically improve travel. The tire goes up and down a couple of inches before it hits the controller. An extra inch by the controller should allow full extension of the frame. Then it’s worth getting an air shock. Really like the heavy spring fork on the Wired, it needs the weight.
its larger than a mtb. The classic bike categories for "overland" are gravel, hybrid, cross country. This is more overland than mtb because mtb is meant for pure recreation trail speed/tricks. Being heavy reduces those capabilties even though the fat tires make crossing hard trails at low speeds possible. Compared to other overland styles, much more speed/range, but stairs/obstacles are a much bigger adventure.
If possible the controller could be moved probably more wire involved then change suspension spring and adjust possible or impossible possible there is a saying there is not such thing as you can't
@@usdmdc5289 Couple of improvements, like rear spring. If they had a 60 volt battery for the kepler that fit the original battery frame, i think id be able to have the same speeds and distance.

Hey do you know if this bike is made for the winter? I live in Alaska and I’m looking for a fat tire e-bike that can handle winter trail riding.
Looks like a nice commuter bike with a lot of power.
I like to pedal so I would prefer the Wired e-bike vs. the moped-style xclass or Rev 1
Did you get it yet?
Wow

Side by side I choose A. But seconds into the video I didn’t care anymore. B is fine.
Really nice specs on the bike, And I even like the color.

I just purchased/Pre-Order two Wired Freedom! November shipment!
Review on 2024/current Wired Freedom suspension? I just ordered mine last month still gotta wait until November
How comfortable is the stock seat for 1-2hour rides?
Basically with most ebikes a quick stretch every hour or so. Even if it's just to go inside 7/11 for a beverage. Take a break.
I'm wondering if you would take a look at the fucare Libra and give your thoughts. I bought one and like it.
I'm looking to purchase an E-bike and really leaning on getting the Wired Freedom. My question is how are E-bikes in the rain? Do I need to wrap anything? How are the brakes wet? Does anyone know if they ship to Canada?
they do not ship to canada i looked into that already but you could ship near the border and bring it over and then pay duty if you wanted to
For the mic A sound just normal, better, as you expect a video to sound, B is like a pilot talking in a plane
Good quality review, thank you!
Their website says $1599. How did you get it that cheap?
You would change your mind In a heart beat about the performance if you rode a more powerful bike😂. I have a Kepler and it’s a beast, and I just ordered a freedom, waiting on it to ship. I couldn’t even imagine going back down to a 48v 15ah bike 🤢🤮
Just ordered one to compliment my Carbo folding eBike
Thx for that review. Especially the comparison between the Bullet. I am debating which to buy. Would you say those moped bikes in general with the smaller tires are more confortable than the true bike frame bikes?
Npl ventures have you heard of the hyper e-ride mid drive ebike??
The negatives you mentioned are positives for me except for the rear suspension travel of course. I think they've since made a better design for newer models.
Did you install the longer rear shock?
you need to learn the bike when giving a review it has walk mode to help you walk up steps now you have to turn the settings down because its fast but hold the down arrow down 2 seconds the same for cruise control and you would of went up the steps easy my wife also has a wired bike she's 5'3 and handles it like nothing did i mention she's also 53 years old
I like it but let’s be honest, we have no idea yet how these will hold up or last. Like a new model car, they say never buy the first ones, wait a year to hear the issues and then what they correct.
Same components as every other inexpensive fat tire bike but with better motor, controller, and battery. 48v bikes are for girls.

Federal Code defines ebikes thusly:
"Electric bicycle (also known as an e-bike) means a two- or three-wheeled cycle with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of not more than 750 watts (1 h.p.) that meets the requirements of one of the following three classes:
(1) Class 1 electric bicycle shall mean an electric bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 20 miles per hour.
I think you continue to misunderstand my original statement 🤷
If you buy an Ebike with a 1500 watt motor that it is shipped as a class 2 (limited to 750 watts by the controller), it is LEGAL.
Please stop trying to prove me wrong when you can't seem to grasping the concept.
That's my dream bike, It's perfect for me and the best one
You should try pushing a Surron or your DIY bike up those stairs? Much harder with the tiny wheels. Just a tad staged and melodramatic. I think the issue is that NPL weighs about 140lbs and is biased towards the little bikes, albeit ones that are heavier than the Wired.
I think it’s clear to everyone he is a tiny little guy that can’t really handle a big boy bike. I get what you’re saying
With all the power. How does it affect the life span of the chain and sprockets. Is a belt drive bike in planning?
You didn't mention torque but I think it it higher than average, something like 100-NM.
Configuration A when you want you voice to be the focal point. B if your ambient or surrounding audio content is relevant.

I'm fairly porky, at 6 foot, 250 pounds. How would the Wired, compare too the Grizzly v2? I'm on the fence, for either...
the grizzly is much harder to peddle
@@snoozeuloose That's very helpful. Thank you!
On a road bike I actually prefer a hard tail with suspension seat.
What camera did you use for this video?
What about a Fabulous Havoc X2? Dual suspension and dual motor with the 60V
@@gulfcoaster210 im 6/3 so that aint happening for me on an X-Class.

Is anyone else feeling that the bike pulls to the left as the battery is not centered ? for longer rides, 40 miles I definitely felt it in the left arm and wrist.
Nope. Take yours to a bike shop and figure out what’s wrong.
Did you fix your bent fork yet? Still pulling to the left?
Where did you get the bike mirror
Thanks
Okay
Nice bike, but in traffic does it brake lights and turn signals? You need that in traffic
That makes a lot of sense smh lol.
thats the greaat thing about my bbshd motor it has walk mode so steep stairs no problem just push the botton and the wheel run slow up the stairs
Ordered one...but it won't be here until November.
Mic B is better if there is no wind noise and A would be better if wind is an issue
Use your breaks to help get up stairs, what you do is you rock up the back tire, Stop that tire and lean the front tire forward while you switch between back and front tire stopping in a rhythmic motion.
You will feel what I mean, it's the only way to get one of those hulks up some stairs!
What kind of milage can you get out of it per charge??
Does it have cruise control?
Yes! Just hold the down arrow for a few seconds while riding above 12mph.
I went with he Aventon Aventure 2...Loved the Wired Freedom but having that back tire so close to the control boxes just not safe or good. Also, Aventon just is well more connected in my area. Have 4 bike shops with staff trained for Aventon if I need work done, and getting parts is easier
wow great video
Are you in Jersey?. I would like to purchase one of your bikes, if that's possible.
You can change out the tire size no?
If u peddle on the bike does it go faster?
Not true these bikes don't go 40 except down a long hill.

Ok, so then you buy a bike for $1,500, right? Can you get a comparable bike for $1500, that's the question. Tax is the same across the board.
Really like the heavy spring fork on the Wired, it needs the weight.
they sent me a bigger shock and i added the suntour seat post and its like sitting on the couch
@@jfly2249 so it doesn’t stop before hitting the controller? That’s a scary thought.

So is it considered a mountain style bike or some what a bmx style bike
its larger than a mtb.
