Ya i'm 71 now. That farm I wrote of. Lost it to drunk driver in 1964. Have been trying to get back to farming ever since. This year 2020 I will have pigs and chickens on my 2 acre homestead. Am working on being able to show people that even a 71 yr old can start a homestead. Have been on this land for 13 yrs. I own it outright. The house needed work and the ground was poor. The ground is getting good but with chickens hope to fight bug better for my veggies. For the last 10 yrs have not brought a veggie form store. I freeze can and store.

Justin . For safety always use gloves with a winch cable, those frayed wire strands hurt and create puncture wounds. And clear the field from the wire under tension. In case it lets go.

I have used that moniker for 20 years in everything from email to passwords.. whenever I tried to change to something else my 6 kids would throw a fit.. soI’m still homesteadmama to them and all the grandkids at this point.. so happy to hear Rebecca using it!!

SS Sally has been a game changer. Please, for safety, throw a bath towel or sweater over the cable on the winch any time you use is about half way the distance the cable is pulled out. If for any reason it should snap, that will slow the recoil down. It could save a life. I realize you may not be pulling on it heavily now, but it's good practice to start now. Gotta love farm kid fun!!
My Mom passed on 11-21-19 and going through her stuff was a chore!!! But we found some wonderful pictures and cards that we'll share with the cousins!

I agree. We all like to be smiled over and enjoyed. We dont want to be around a 'grump-bucket'. Case in point, my husband just got a new job,last 30 days. They are constantly telling him how much they appreciate him. Makes life more enjoyable

i have used my winch for all sorts of things, pulling out t bar that i pounded in and even pulling out 4x4 posts that i cemented in. you will love it.
Now you have sally ya going to have to modify your Shaw and shelter to have a hitch and tow them around.lots of love for sally 😂

A wench is a young woman, typically works in a bar. A winch is a mechanical instrument with gears that makes pulling thins easier. Typically mounted on the front of a strong(ish) vehicle 😘 just for the sakevof clarity. There IS a reason there are so many letters in the alphabet. Changing even one can make a very large difference!😘👍😎🤦♀️

You should make a "professional sheep shaw movers shirt". Glad to see the wench worked out.
I think that winch might have a manual release on the side so you can extend the cable without having to run the motor. That release helps when the cable gets bound up like that. The release should be on the right side if you are facing the front of the winch.

I've been thinking. I bet Mr. Brown has some sort of sensory issues with his socks or his shoes. Have you tried turning his socks inside out? So the seam of his socks doesn't bug him.
Ohhh man Lillys SASSSSSY! Hehehehe good luck when she turns 12 hahah. I have 3 girlies 12, 5 and 1. One day my 5 year old comes running inside to use the washroom while I was folding laundry and asks Momma can I make mudpies? Im like sure just try not to get your dress dirty. A few minutes go by and shes still in the washroom so I go to check on her. Little did I know she ment on the bathroom floor 😂 She looks at me and goes see my dress is still clean my 12 year old looks at me and says What she asked you if she could hahahah

Thought....would the sheep coral be easier to pull if the cord was also attached at the center wheel or moving the cord so that each end is centered between the middle and outside wheel? It just flexes so much (the fence, not Justin) when it's pulled that if you take the flex out it would move easier. IDK, I might be wrong.

I think you should consider putting some red flags hanging on fence when crossing the roads. Just a thought on safety. I love what your doing and so glad you share your experiences with us.

I feel your pain. We have had 7truck loads come out of my father n laws garage. Yep I said garage. There's 2 storage units and 3 bedroom house to go. It's so hard. Once we get started we see so many memories and then it's those things that make us say: why ,what did he need these for and why so many of them?... wish us luck
I agree if you have a favorite shirt that pap paw wore, make it into something. My mom passed away this year and I had a teddy bear with grandma embroidered on her favorite night gown for our new grandson that was just born!
