Gwen is a doll made by Isolde (Viego's wife) who got a fragment of Isolde's soul inside her, apparently. I guess that's what the blue hue is about, she's not actually "from the isles".

She's the -Hallowed- Seamstress. She was lost under the ocean BEFORE the Ruination, meaning she sank in Blessed isles waters; NOT Shadow Isles.
The green dolls mght have not been spared that fate and were fully corrupted by the Black Mist, rather than blessed by Hallowed mists.

The thing with the mist not being super spooky is because it’s HALLOWed mist and not HOLLOWed mist, hallow meaning something that’s blessed or sacred or holy. So she’s like... super nice Shadow Isles girl.

If you can't target her, you can't auto her. If it was worded as "Cannot target or hit with any abilities" I'd agree. But that wording says you can't auto her either.

3:00 she probably blue not only to match her aesthetic, but also to somewhat represent her being part of Isolde. Isolde is still probably 'pure' meaning her sould has not yet been affected by the mist/shadow isles. Along with this we can assume that when Gwen absorbed part of Isolde, Gwen's 'soul' mixed macking a blue. I think this would put a bit more lore into her colours whilst also making them nice :D

yup, better Xin ult on a basic ability.
Xin's does do damage, but it's really bad, usually less than just autoing. So really only the Damage ignore matters, but he can still be CC'd, Gwen can't.
Point in Xin's favour is his stays around himself no matter how far he moves; but we'll see how much that matters when Gwen's in a teamfight and can just stand in it and reach everyone she needs to.
@@Bladius_ Xin doesn't take any damage for any reason outside his ult. Gwen cant be targeted but I think she can still be hit and damaged and by aoe abilities idk if that's the interpretation but it would be lame if its just like Xin ult

To be fair, the AoE on his ultimate is significantly smaller.

I still remember riots pre-preseason statement. We want to reduce the amount of healing in the game. Also don't forget to check out those 2 slick new champs with built in lifesteal.
Riot always does this: back when spell vamp was a big issue they released vlad. Whatever the biggest issue is - boom heres a champ the can abuse that.
Now there is even more healing than before. Now you can get healing and tankiness in the same items.
AP Xin is bad. Don't try it. Just build triforce into steraks.

If someone is laughing at an ability, that ability is not and never will be a balanced
It is literally vladimir w against ranged champs only so no worry. Against melees it has no effect whatsoever when you are inside the zone.

@@Lorikhlb against melees it can be used to dodge combos, as she has mobility that she can use to reposition the shroud. Thats actually a really nice skill expression on the kit.
@@NeverEverClever agree. A j4 e+q will never land on her. He'd have to be right ontop of her and she has troll by not using her dash. The power creep has gotten so bad that they made an ap bruiser that cannot get engaged upon, who has immunity to both ranged champions, and melee champion engages.

I felt exactly the same when I found that her dash has CD reduced if it hit something and passive doing %damage. I feel that was somehow their intention. An ap fiora of some kind

You're thinking about Sylas, Diana (who shields herself instead of heal) and, maybe the best fit, an AP Irelia -- who also coincidently builds herself on the ideia of "death by thousand cuts", just... uhh... more focused on dance, harmony and blades themselves instead of doll-making, needles and whatnot. To me, albeit Gwen might not be at launch an outright clone of Irelia, they fill the almost same exact role, just the former being AP/Hybrid and the latter being AD/Hybrid.
She's confirmed for some times as an AP Bruiser Top, so not weird to see % Health on passive
she'll likely be a mid laner as well due to her ability to beat the living shit out of assasins

In riots reveal they say “Gwen's basic attacks deal bonus on-hit magic damage based on a percentage of her enemies' maximum health. Basic attacks against champions will heal her for some of the damage dealt.” So small typo in the skin spotlights video
right, thats what i was confused about. If its based on enemy hp that makes her like a tank killer, maybe bruiser. Based off her hp makes her much more of a bruiser.
she has Xin Zhao ult and Senna shroud in a single ability
not really, its the same as xin zhao, but instead of seeing the health bar you dont, they both have immunity to people outside a certain range, just xin has his health bar visible, so you can target him, but it still wont do damage

Power creep
No hard cc though is huge
Her W ability is quite a bit different i think. Without the ability to knock people out except one, it functions completely differently. While xin zhao uses it as an ability that allows him to recklessly engage, gwen w doesn’t allow that, since the ability does nothing if enemies are inside the radius. Its closer to a senna e but instead of invisible she’s untargetable and phases through skillshots. This means that she can use w, phase through a jinx rocket, and screw her adc behind her since it only applies to herself. Its a unique ability that also seems pretty useless against melee bruisers, she might be a mid laner based solely on this ability.
Except that xin ults is an AOE KNKCKBACK and moves with him more than a single time.
What youre seeing is a melee toplaner with no cc whatsoever, of course that needs compensation.
no damage or push back on her w, she needs to reposition against other melees to use it, and can be forced out of it fairly easily

The kit is interesting, her design is beautiful (I even love this color scheme). Looking forward to her a lot.

i think that the "onhit damage based on her hp percentage" doesn't mean it scales with her hp pool but rather it's a range of flat onhit values each according to respective current hp mark (e.g. 10 dmg while at 100% hp, 25 dmg while at 75-99% etc.), otherwise it would state "onhit damage based on her hp", but maybe riot fucked up the spelling of that sentence and i'm wrong

That W is ridiculous i smell a major nerf to it or complete rework needed after release. Can you imagine if you have gwen, samira, xin on the same team? A bunch of untargetable/immune to dmg and windwall like ridiculousness. Its like riot doesnt even think about how these abilities work with other champions.

Better how? Her W doesn't do damage, has a wider range so it's easier to counter it, and it doesn't knock back.
They did announce Gwen as an AP Toplaner so yes I am going to assume she is a toplaner.
And blue is probably going to be Isolde's colour while Green is the Shadow Isle and Viego's colour

I like the W a lot. It gives her counterplay against those traditional ranged counters. It's a very interesting ability to put on a bruiser.

@@uhasuhdude6567 Play a bruiser. I think that's all Gwen is, she's a bruiser who is good into what usually counters her class, but is probably going to be bad against things like Fiora, Camille, etc.
Riot really fucked up with AP bruisers in their game. There are approximately zero good mythic items that really synergize with their kits, typically, so there's often no reason to really play them over someone else who can do the job better. I think they should make Nashor's Tooth better(if it is literally a fang of Baron Nashor it would make sense to be a mythic item...) and just buff it to an almost similar to rageblade passive where the damage scales with how many other items you have complete(instead of with crit chance like for rageblade).
My biggest question is although Gwen deals a lot of magic/true damage are they going to pull a fast one and make her an AD champ? lol

Nah, nashors tooth will simply be weak for her because of her lack of survivability against melees. She has a very long all in but will probably be dead if you're not building health

The passive text is wrong. Thousand Cuts deals damage based on enemy health, not her own.
Let's just remember: It's not based on her health, it's based on enemy max% hp. She doesn't need to be a tank when she will literally tear through anyone and anything.I thought Samira, Aphelios and Senna were the epitome of 200 years.. But this is a whole new level.
I wonder if she can work like Volibear. Building AD even though she scales with magic damage.
Trinity force seems like it would be amazing for her if her base stats are good enough to not require AP.

As an Elise main, I'm curious to see how comparably Gwen plays to Elise, seeing as Elise benefits from building semi-tanky and relying on her sustain and %-hp skills to shred enemies.

I’m not sure if I missed you mentioning this in the video but I believe that her E can go through walls, I saw some gameplay of her and she could dash through some walls.
Hoping she can hop over thin walls at least like Aatrox's short dash (that can still magically go over some fat walls like buffs...). I really like champions that revolve around being tanky and annoying through mobility and sustain. Damage isn't really the biggest factor, if you can survive while whittling people down it's interesting.
For Soloqueue she looks like she'll be fun to be annoying as hell pushing, hop over a wall to escape, repeat. If someone throws a hook or something just drop the mist and continue to be annoying.

Is there any confirmation of her being an AP champion? just because she does magic damage doesnt mean she'll scale off AP. I expect she could work quite well with kraken slayer or something just like Viego, and with the attack speed steroid in her kit it could definitely be viable if she's an AD champ.
Her ult feels like old Irelia ult, but her kit feels more fluidly build to how that old ult used to work.

It kinda depends from the build\meta.
Most of the time Sylas is played full ap as a really bursty champ with a really strong heal (the ult in the enemy team also change how he can play).
The thing i like about her ultimate is that you have to actually hit someone to be able to use it 100%.
If you miss the 1' shot you don't get a 2'\3' chance.
I know it sound obvious but it means that you can't be like Jhin and miss 3 times but still get a kill because you have the 4' empowered shot.
No you need to hit an attack as in an auto attack or any other spell i dont think u need to hit the R

Nashors into Riftmaker into Demonic Embrace would make sense in my opinion.
You're talking about building her tanky etc. But imo, she's just a Magic version of Fiora for me. Okay, maybe she won't be glasscannon, to be honest glasscannons almost don't exist these years in LoL. I can see her build Attack Speed/AP and some tankiness, making her able to survive other champions on toplane with her healing, while outdamaging a lot of them.
Anyway pretty good champion imo, nothing too original, but at least she looks kinda cool (from her design on the art, and in the 3D model to her animations) unlike other recent champs like Seraphine who are utter trash (dunno how much Disney paid to add that champ into the game).
Potentially useful items on her: Lich Bane, Hextech Gunblade (Not necesarily, because she already has heal, but could work. Also i dunno if that item still exists, i left LoL like 2 months ago), Nashor's Tooth, BoTRK, Trinity.

No heavy cc - wish they shown the extent of the slow on her ult, dmg scaling with hp (shame it's not specified if it goes up as hp goes down or the opposite, it would mean a lot in the teamfight's flow - she would be either a target that could be ignored till the end of tf to lower her dmg output or someone who needs to be focused straight up), evil mobility (again, unspecified if "enemy" in the skill description refers to only champions or any opponent (minions/jungle mobs included)) and skill dodging (means she can't be cc-ed in any way in that mist, making her a valuable choke point holder).
Depending on skill costs and overall dmg output, her kit seems quite decent for solo lanes. Split pushing included.
Looks like a straight forward AP in-your-face bruiser to me. Everything's down to the ratios at this point.

Yeah, "Her health" is a typo and isn't live in PBE. It's based on her AP.
