Swedish is the second official language of Finland. Every Finn learns Swedish in school and all the official papers, services etc. are available in Finnish, Swedish and English (while not official language).
Swedish is an officially recognized language in Finland due to the Swedish-Finnish history. There has historically also been an influential Swedish minority (though not so much more), and Swedish has been taught in public schools (again, not so much more).
So I just wanted to add that maps picks the language of the street names based on the language setting on your browser/phone, the reason the streets have both Swedish and Finnish names in the first place is history as you already explained 👍
Finland was actually the eastern half of Sweden before 1809, when it was lost in war to Russia. Historically some 20-25% of Finland was Swedish speaking.
The way you write about the language situation gives a little bit false impression. Finland has two official national languages protected by law. Some other languages have some official roles like Saame in some municipalities. There is also an autonomous area Åland, where swedish is the only official language. And about teaching: both domestic languages are part of curriculum of the comprehensive school. Private and public schools have the same required curriculum, so saying just public schools is misleading.
@@ilarikousa1500 Education is mandatory in Finland, at least the basics like some domestic languages, basic mathematics etc. Some people seem to favor less language education.. partly because of political ambitions I think, since being against something is always easier than offering something positive and more helpful.

It was a fun vlog. I would definitely watch more if you decide to get into vlogging. :) Hopefully you can come to Finland again soon now when you had your first experience. Seeing how much you enjoyed my home country makes me very happy. 😊

Finland belonged to Sweden for like 800 years, then we (Sweden) lost to Russia in 1809. In 1917. So Finland was Swedish for 800 years, Russian for about 100 years and now been independent for about 100 years.
The fried chicken is called "karaage" (唐揚げ) and putting it on a bowl of rice would make it "donburi" or just "don" (丼) in short. So you had "karaage don". It looks pretty authentic (especially being coated in mayo), so props to the Finnish Japanese restaurant! Edit: After seeing the less than impressed reaction, maybe Finnish Japanese restaurant is a bit lacking lololol. Hopefully authentic Japanese food would not disappoint.
Typically, Google Maps venues (e.g. streets, malls, etc) have more than one translation. It tries to show the best translation (if one exist). In this case I guess it took Swedish from the locale settings in your phone.
You are eating "Chicken Karaage with Kewpie Mayo" which is a typical Japanese fried chicken recipe, where the chicken is breaded with potato starch instead of flour, cornflour or breadcrumbs.
This is so funny to me, because being a Botez fan, intelligent Romanian Canadian women being so irresistible, I was peripherally introduced to Anna Cramling as a seeming competitor in the same field. Reading the headlines or bylines, it seemed that after initial contact, there somehow came to be bad blood between the two groups, and being already familiar with the Botez side, it seemed like either an unfortunate misunderstanding,or the Cramling side were not good people. If I had known that Anna was Swedish, I would have given goodness a little more credit, and humour a lot more credit . I am, after all,a Canadian with a Swedish blood father, and my first and abiding superhero is Pippi Long stocking. I absolutely love smart strong women with a quirky sense of humour.
All street names have both Finnish and Swedish names. I will hazard a guess, if your Google has any tie to Swedish or Sweden, it will show you the Swedish names. Hope you had a fun time while you were here!
Imagine while they were laughing in the escape room , a recording plays with a heavy voice , hello Anna i want to play a game , the rules are simple.....plays SAW tune from behind
Anna is so clever and funny. I prefer her than botez sisters. I think she is the funniest girl on Earth. Can't wait to play chess with her, on Twitch and, if one day she came to Italy, I hope irl too. It's my dream
