Midnight Summer Night is the one that got away. That was Irelands true winner.
The reason Wild Youth won, was because their PR team had them on every media outlet prior to Eurosong. Plus, the National jury also have personal connections to Wild Youth and Wild Youths PR team.

The audience for this tv show in Ireland is mostly 40 plus. Not sure why they think this audience is likely to choose a eurovision winner! Ireland needs to put in more effort. They haven’t won since the 90s when eurovision was a very different competition.
I'm so disappointed that Wild was executed so poorly. I love Leila Jane and I hope she tries again next year but the poor girl seemed so nervous.
I think the problem was that she didn’t sung very well. But I agree, the song is so beautiful and catchy.

Oh wow what a mess. The Irish vote was actually worse than what we have in our Romanian national selection. Ireland isn't coming back to the final anytime soon, and I hope they're proud about it
Also, how in the world did Wild end up last?? That was my favorite out of the six, I don't get it
well, the studio version of wild is nice but her performance was shocking bad. shaky vocals and bizarre choreo, she was out of tune
@@jerryhehe yeah, I searched for the performance shortly after I posted that comment. A pity, she could've done well on the Eurovision stage with the right staging and enough confidence in her own voice

I am one of the Irish tv viewers utterly shocked at the awful singing quality of some of the Irish songs. I am also one if the many gutted that Connolly did not (deservedly) win..
I'm from the U.K. (don't hold it against me please) I missed watching the selection for Ireland on the internet BUT listening back to the recap (all I could find on YT) agree with you on the singing quality! I'm a massive Eurovision fan so much so that I have on my PC every entry from the start in 1956 right up to 2023 (got a big download file off the net from 56 to 2006) and have all the CDs that have been issued since!) I have a lot of respect for Ireland and their entries (The lovely Dana won the yr I was born) From being a kid watching johnny logan win in 1980 and onwards, The fab Linda Martin, Niamh Kavanagh, Paul Harrington, and Charlie McGettigan, and Eimear Quinn. they still hold the record for the most wins! (I still say though Dustin the Turkey was put in as a ringer so they wouldn't win again as it costs so much to host lol 😉🤣 ) But I think out of all of them this year wild youth was the best (from the snippet I saw ) performance on the night..I wish Wild Youth and Ireland all the best and hope they get through the semi-finals..sadly uk can't vote for them as we got stuck with semi-final 2 and Ireland is in semi-1! best wishes and Eurovision luck from the U.K 😉😉😘😘 ALSO you're lucky in Ireland you still have a selection show like many other countries here in the UK we don't have one ( NOT SINCE the public picked Scooch) now the BBC pick the song (I don't agree with it) but hey last yr they finally got their crap together and contracted another firm to do it and we ended up with the great Sam Ryder and spaceman!

To be honest, I'm glad PiL didn't win this. It would have bombed at Eurovision, in my opinion.
I like PiL, but the song wasn't very good. I understand the sentiment, but I wouldn't want it to get low scores at Eurovision.
Just because it is a very personal song towards his wife and it be a bit hurtful if it didn't do very well. I wish John and his wife the best. His heart is in the right place.
