Amazing that you stayed dry in heavy rain. I'd be curious how you pitched in pouring rain. I have the altaplex. I had the visp mits, and they were drenched in moments in the rain, I figured the jacket would be the same. I also had a patagonia jacket and the montbelle, and they also wetted out. The toggs are actually most effective. My enlghtened equipment wind pants ripped to shreds :D Enjoyed the video :)

I use Sawyer filters but we all have a similar problem. Horrible stuff is growing in your filter. Bacteria & virus are growing in the filters just like mildew in a bathroom. Bacteria & virus love that wet & dark environment. You can treat filters like a disposable item since all outfitters along the trail have replacement filters. I solved the problem by adding 2 drops regular chlorine per liter into the dirty water bag, let sit for 30 minutes, then have that chlorinated water kill the bacteria & virus growing in the filter. Keep in mind, filters only stop bacteria and do not stop virus. If you have E-coli growing in your filter, that virus will pass through to your drinking water. Chlorine kills bacteria & virus.
Thanks for the advice! I have wondered about that and have replaced filters more frequently because of that fear. I'm always surprised when people tell me they have used the same filter for years.

Hi Waldo. How was finding electrical outlets on the trail? Did you always had to go into town to charge your battery and electronics? I’m going to do a sobo section hike from Flagstaff to either Phoenix or Tucson starting this Oct 1 and I’m still in the market for a new power bank. Thanks!
I'd like to know how did you managed to sleep so well with just a thin foam roll and a top quilt, I always got under the impression that doing something like that could be deadly or very, very uncomfortable. Specially with cold drafts.
Not really sure, it was fine though. As I mentioned, I brought the extra pad due to that fear but very quickly got rid of it and was fine with just the thin pad. It worked for me but some people probably get cold more easily than I do.
