  • This woodturning challenge was put out a few weeks ago by #skkrafts . Anyone who knows me, knows that I can't just make something like a bobbin and not actually making the lace too!
    The bobbins were all made out of walnut, except for the two that were made from deer bone.
    The lace technique is actually fairly easy, but of course I only did the easiest, beginner piece I could find.

    Very nice, Heather. Thanks for the education. I had heard of lace bobbins but had no idea what they were. Boy, do I feel smarter today! 🤣😂
    Happy turning,

    They're really nice Heather.
    They remind me of my grandfather, who made bobbins and work platforms for the local lace making art workshop across the street.

    The item at the end of the video is a sewing awl. It is used to poke holes in fabric to make eyelets

    I think I might give this a try. I saw some for sale that had square bottoms. Do you think that might help keep them from rolling around on your cushion? It would be a simple matter of sanding flat sides after turning. I’ve never used a lathe, but have an ancient old thing that might still work. Wish me luck.

      A square side on them might help! I've only ever used them once, but I still have them! Good luck with the ancient lathe! Sometimes old is better

    How much would you charge for something like this curious thanks Heather

    • @spiritwynd
      @spiritwynd  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, I've never sold them, but they are around $3 canadian each, on etsy. That is my go-to for figuring out what I should be charging for my pieces
