      I disliked because of two key problems:
      - too fast, zero step by step detailed process
      - heavy use of brush mode
      If only you warned about that in the video description...

    If you're currently just using Substance to bake and actually don't do any texture work in it, you should check out Bake Wrangler for Blender. It bakes quite literally anything (and since its using a node graph you can re-use bake settings from previous projects quite conveniently)

    • @Tosmo
      @Tosmo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, this would be for if you are planning to texture with substance painter, in my Skin painting tutorial, I do 100% of texture painting and baking inside of vanilla blender without any external applications: th-cam.com/video/-H_bYDxl-CU/w-d-xo.html

    hey I'm new to 3d i don't understand why people use high poly mesh details on low poly and what is this baking process?

    • @Tosmo
      @Tosmo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      High poly means your model has a high density of polygons, it can be highly detailed but it has too much information for a game engine to handle, and it difficult to animate. So game artist scans the dense high-poly detail on to texture sheet that is projected on a low polygon version of the same model. This texture is called a Normal map and it contains the lighting and bump information the replicates the high polygon geometry. You can get more detail without having more geometry.

      @Vibhu_Kishan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Tosmo oh sweet right! I remember seeing someone just create a normal map of a high Polly in substance then import the low Polly and hook it up 👍 thanks more clear on this now

    Thank you for the video. Is there anyway to include what you press and go slower? I’m unsure how you did those slants to the cylinder at 1:47 and can’t do anything after that since I’m a complete beginner. Also I’m not sure how you can select the middle dotted circle and then push the ends of the cylinder back. Great video but a bit hard to follow for a beginner like myself

      Thanks, I understand what you mean, I am considering making a video in the future on basic modeling techniques applied to practical examples. The techniques are simple and I don't use a lot of addons, but it's the approach to modeling that can be hard for people to learn when your beginning.

    That helmet can animate in latar
    I am a beginner plz tell me?

    • @Tosmo
      @Tosmo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Short answer yes, and just about anything can be animated. typically for games, you need to appropriately optimize your models for animations. The helmet can easily just be set to the same vertex group as the head if you have an already rigged character. Some of my recent videos have touched on the basics of animating, but I hope to do in-depth tutorials in the future.

  • @Klarified01

    At 9:05 you mention isolating inner faces. I do not know if I should delete the inner faces of my model as I'm making a game asset, or should I keep them? Do you have any suggestions?
    Also do you know a fast way to choose inner faces? because doing it manually takes a long time :D
    Great video. Thanks!

    • @Tosmo
      @Tosmo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That all depend on if you are going to use them. If a game character is mot expected to take off their helmet and look inside, then you would need to create an interior portion. There's no point in making a a lot of geometry to create something if its never going to be seen.

    • @Klarified01
      @Klarified01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tosmo Thanks. I have one more question though. Do you use subdivision surface modifier in this video? You mentioned it, but I haven't seen it used. A trivial question

    • @Tosmo
      @Tosmo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Klarified01 Most parts get a subD modifier after I add a bevel. However, I often have "simlify" enabled and set to 0 in my viewport render properties simply to save some processing time.

    The only thing idk is that how you put the objects and make it smooth

    • @Tosmo
      @Tosmo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Objects can be made smooth by right clicking and select "smooth shading". You can also select auto smooth in the object properties tab under Normals. This get turned on by default when using the hard ops addon.

    • @Tosmo
      @Tosmo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard Ops is helpful but not necessary in this demo. I show the standard Blender method of creating hardsurface objects without any addons. Only later on in this video do I start using Hard ops for convenience sake.
