Thanks for the support from everyone! Now that this video has gained some traction, I should mention a few things: - Realism ISN'T always better! The original game was developed with a specific style in mind and this is just my own adaptation for entertainment purposes! - My modeller brain took over and blurted out that quads were ideal for game-engines. Quads are ideal for MODELLING, however these are always split into tris when imported into game engines because they play nicer with the renderer. Thanks to everyone that corrected me on this, my bad! - I saw some people asking for a replacement-mod for the game, I don't know how to do it myself but feel free to try yourself with the model link in the description! Same goes for anything else you want to do with it, ideally with a little bit of credit. 😉 - Yeah Inscryption's pretty sweet
Friend! Your work is amazing and the way you explained this was very striat foward yet still entertaining! Honestly learned more stuff from this then the blender tutorals I use XD
I considered remodeling the character to make the suit look more professional. I’m an amateur at modeling and I’m happy that you did it so I don’t feel like I have to.
Yeah, the game would feel different with realistic graphics. Animations would have to change, right now characters like bob as they run and it wouldn't look right with realism. I also do not want to see this changed however
Really appreciate the inscryption music, the atmosphere of that game is burned into the experience of the music for me so it gave the whole video that warm, slightly unnerving but ultimately calm aesthetic. The sfx were good too :)
damn i really had inscription feelings when starting the video. didnt see the description until reading these comments but glad i aint the only one who noticed lmao
As someone whos just finished university and trying to wrap their head around good workflows and modelling for games i really appreciate the explanation of the process in thia video
As someone who just finished my semester of 3D Animation I agree this video sums it up incredibly well and I’ll definitely be coming back to it if I ever get stuck
this. dropped out of a combined first-year uni course on game stuff because i couldn't follow at all - minus the tool instructions, this video explained things that previously took me two weeks of notes for me to half-understand. and it did so in 24 minutes.
0:46 All models when in engine pretty much always consist *entirely* of tris. This is because GPUs work best and are optimized for rendering tris. It's highly unlikely they modeled with triangles, but instead automatically triangulated their mesh. This can be done automatically by all major game engines upon importing or in your 3D modeling software of choice (In blender you can triangulate by using Ctrl + T for example) ^^
for the most part it looks like the triangulated mesh was made of quads but if you look closely you will find some odd numbers of neighboring tris in some sections especially the fingers and the lower section of the leg, which makes me believe the model might have been decimated or gone through some other process that affected the quad flow before the engine. generally speaking, the quad flow is messed up significantly which is bad for rigging and animations but it almost feels as if it was intentional to add to the wonky vibes.
Yeah it's a product of game development. Having messed with unity's mesh renderer myself this has definitely been converted to triangles and potentially decimated to be more performant.
Yeah, no game engine actually deals with quads natively, everything is done with polygons. Even if you're creating a model with quads, the modeler will always deal with it with triangles, even if it doesn't show the connected points. I remember reading about some early game engines, like in the Dreamcast/PS1 era, that tried to use quads, but it was quickly abandoned in favor of triangles because they were easier to deal with.
At first I was like “I think I remember this music, but don’t know from where…” and then I listened closer and realized that “Oh shit it’s inscryption!”
I know you said that you don't want to do just Lethal Company stuff, but even doing a Coil-Head would be really cool, and I feel like that in a more realistic render would turn the fear factor up to 11.
That's exactly the one I was gonna suggest! I totally agree with not wanting to do like all the monsters, but I really want him to do at least one, and I think the jester would be perfect. It's one of the most unique designs in the game, if not the most.
Super interesting video. As a 2D artist with no experience in 3D modelling, it was fascinating to watch and learn the process. It gives me a deeper respect for 3D artists. Subbed, excited to see more!
I LOVE that you explain how everything works in this. As someone trying to understand how to 3d model better this made things so easy to understand and unpack than most tutorials I've seen so far. I hope this pops off it deserves WAY more than a couple hundred views.
I learned more, and more helpful, information about modeling, UVing, and texturing in this video than I did my 3 courses in college dedicated to 3D modeling and rendering. So thank you for that!!
i was expecting at least 500k views and 100k likes but only 255 views and 47 likes?? The effort i know that was put into this video from the sounds to making custom visuals just for explanations is highly underrated, i cant wait for this to blow up and get the exposure it deserves, This video was amazingly done

I've done 3D modeling for along time as a hobby and it's tough to learn all the skills between modeling, texturing, lighting , UV mapping, rigging, rendering, and you nailed it man. Apart from the quality of the video itself that to me is quite underrated as mentioned by many others, the detail that I truly appreciate is how you tried to "improve" the model in your own way without ever undermining the quality of the design choices made by the game creator but rather giving a comprehensible justification of why those choices were made. GGs sir.
Holy crap, the quality and overall production of this video is amazing! Your editing style is extremely unique, I haven't seen anything like it on the rest of TH-cam. Keep up the great work, I would love to see more video game characters or models re-imagined or made realistic!
I knew when I saw your Pizza Tower video that you're good at this but damn, this is the sixth time you surprised me by just making incredible videos that are way too underrated! I hope more people will soon get to see your amazing creations ^_^
The two boxes on the side of the helmet are part of the in-game "echo scanner" device. Its main purpose in-game is finding scrap, but it is also used for locating the ship and, more importantly, living things that want to brutally kill you!
It was super cool to hear a lot of the Inscryption sound effects and music again after not playing it for a while. And also, the final model looks fantastic. Great job, man.
The sign of a real professional is the ability to explain difficult things in easy language, and you are good at it so far! I'm not even interested in 3d modeling, but I watched all the video through, good job ;)
The other model in the game that really interests me is the Bracken, and given how overly simple it is in the game, you could have a lot of creative liberty with it. Regardless of if you choose to make more from the game, this model was incredibly well made.

Wow, I have watched a whole bunch of tutorials and people generally tinkering around with Blender's various features in the past, but this has got to be the most informative video on the topic I have come across so far. Plus, I really appreciate the effort you put into editing this process together and creating visuals for so many of your explanations; very enjoyable to watch the whole thing come together. I'm gonna have to check out your other content as well, but safe to say you absolutely deserve to be seen more.
To be honest, I never expected to see an avatar modeling video with the Inscription sounds and music on the background, but they fitted so well! I loved it And I loved to see the realistic model, it really looks awesome. Really good job 💜 Wow, I'm finishing the video now and is sick- . It looks incredible.
Dude! This looks amazing! This only took you three days? I don't know that much about modeling but this is absolute perfection! If there's ever an HD Remake of Lethal Company they should absolutely hire you for it. I wonder what some of the other humanoids would look like with this realistic depiction...
I just love all the Inscryption music and SFX you use in the video along with the explanations. It makes it more engaging and memorable. Subscriber earned
This is a fantastic explanation of the process. Your descriptions of each process were short and digestible and just overall easy to understand. Also! I really like that you said a "more realistic" model instead of "better" and then quickly explained the idea of stylization.
This is genuinely impressive and informative. The rendering really something you’d see in Unity and I had to laugh when the main movement given was the Company Shimmy. Excellent work!
I would (and will) suggest this video to absolutely anyone wishing to get into 3D modelling in general. Absolutely stellar work and coverage of many complex topics in a very digestible manner. So cool man
with your permission, could we get a 3D model of the helmet for 3D printing? im interested in making a costume using this more robust version of the helmet, if it's cool with you.
As someone who used to dabble in 3D Modeling and had to learn all of this from various sources over a few years -- this is probably the most concise explanation of how 3D models are created and all the terms and concepts that you should be aware of. This will probably teach and motivate a bunch of people to get into 3D modeling!
Games DO NOT use quads, quads are useful for edge flow which is helpful for the modeler with adding loop cuts and subdividing (also shading can be weird if edge flow is especially bad) but in the end when it reaches the game engine it’ll import as triangles because tris are rendering optimized so having a model made purely of tris or with some tris is a-okay and sometimes even helps with edge flow

Honestly, really liked/enjoyed how you used SFX and the OST from Inscryption throughout the Video! I personally enjoy whenever a video is given more charm, keep it up though! I throughly enjoyed watching :3
Honestly? Thank you for really breaking down the process and pipeline if what it really takes to make a 3D model, from start to finish. I've tried to tip my toes into 3D modeling as a hobby for years now but have always been beyond intimidated by the sheer scope of things, and have never really found a tutorial that actually explains the jargon they keep throwing around in any concise fashion. But Not only do you explain everything you're doing, you go a step beyond that and actually explain the pipeline, the terms, all in an extremely understandable and entertaining fashion. Thank you for being a fantastic teacher!
Your process of order of operations, and clear concise explanations for uses of tools and everything else is just... i needed this 6 months ago... Next you'll explain how the universe works and i think everyone would say: "This guy gets it"
I really enjoyed how you went pretty in-depth and explained each step of the process. As someone who only knows the vague aspects 3D modelling, it helped clear up a lot of things and I found this genuinely educational.
This is actually really helpful to learn to do some stuff in blender. Your explanations and visuals are very useful, and were worth the effort they took to make, I'd reckon.
This was pleasant to go on a watch. I learned a lot about how 3D Modeling works and its about a game I enjoy. Also, it's a small detail that I notice. But it really like the music and sound effect from inscryption you included, it helped me be immersed in the video overall. I hope you make more videos like this.
INSANE EDITING, love the demonstration animations! The remodel looks insane too! Learned more about blender and modeling in general from this vid than I have with tutorials lmao.
Hey, I just wanted to say, I like your work. It's my second video that I watch from you, the first one being the Bracken remodel and I like your work. It looks really good. I also like how you explain the steps you make and don't just jump from a to b without saying what you do. Keep up the good work.
clicked on this video just to see the model but left with so much more knowledge in the workflows and possibilities with all these programs. definitely coming back to this to get into the other programs after blender
As someone interested in trying out 3d modelling and animation. A peek behind the process was a welcome surprise. Looking forward to future videos, love the editing.
I know this is completely unrelated but from someone who just finished the entire game, all the inscription sound effects and soundtracks in the vid stood out to me. just felt like mentioning that, great vid as well!
This is a phenomenal video that showcases phenomenal work. Comprehensive, well paced, explains the detail work without it becoming a bore and well edited from transitions to showcases. I want to see many more of your videos to come. Keep at it
Great video! I really liked how it was edited going through everything and explaining the different programs and functions The dance animation at the end was perfect
As someone who is learning how to model in blender and really interested in 3D art this has given me so much useful information. I love the music, sound effects, and visuals of the video which really made me enjoy watching. I love how the information is formated and your explanations to the various programs and methods you use (I loved the fact I understood some of those methods you used, really put into perspective how I personally have advanced in the 3D modeling space). Keep it up and I hope to see more from you in the future!
The entire gaming and developer community have come out in support of this game and its developer. It's a beautiful thing. Hopefully, with all the success he's had, he'll be able to hire some of you guys to do some work on the game with him and get some crazy awesome updates out. The game really does have crazy potential and could go far beyond where its at right now, and you're showing that here in this video. Excellent work
Most likely gonna get lost in the comments heh, but will write it anyway. Want to say my personal Thank You. Your content keeps me motivated to experiment and go further and further down the path of modelling. I have been working on models for about 2 years by now. Doing some good progress here and there - but seeing your videos motivates me to keep digging deeper into it, experiment more and try out some techniques that I haven't even considered! This video in particular - was very helpful for looking at full character modelling. Still am very slowly tackling this mammoth of a task heh... Also thank you so much for leaving the model in the description for people to download - is a very neat and useful example of how high production model should look like! Keep up the great work! Thank you so much once more! :]
This is incredible! I hope that this video reaches the maker of Lethal Company, and you guys are able to chat. It would be amazing to see something like this in the base game!
I subbed. Im a 2nd year game designer student and seeing your workflow can teach me a lot. I know the pipeline but it is really nice that you explain everything so well.
Absolutely incredible video, I loved the editing you used and how you didnt oversimplify, yet you didn't word vomit either. I expected to see at least a few hundred subscribers from a channel with this quality of content, but was surprised to be wrong, and I personally am rooting for you to gain more traction on this platform
came for the funny game, left absolutely floored at the production value and progression. Unintentionally an amazing guide on modelling and texturing, especially helped me wrap my head around the normal map, i've already messed around with blender and substance painter a little but mostly base and adding stuff for metallic etc.

I heard the noises at the beginning and IMMEDIATELY knew. Glad to see I'm not the only one.
Pretty crazy work, I do find the og models charming and prefer them as they are but this is quite the way to bring it to 'life' so to speak.
Wouldn’t look great in the game compared to everything else but for animation works would look amazing
You can also get away with more by being sightly unrealistic

But it really like the music and sound effect from inscryption you included, it helped me be immersed in the video overall. I hope you make more videos like this.
i love the fact that i get to see how you do everything while you explain it in a way thats understandable and in good bite size pieces, cool vid!
The editing of this video was so cool, like how you explained edge creasing with the subdivided cube, it looked so cool
Production quality is off the CHARTS. Best of luck moving forward! I'll be sticking around to see more of your work.
clicked on this video just to see the model but left with so much more knowledge in the workflows and possibilities with all these programs.
definitely coming back to this to get into the other programs after blender
That inscryption music hits hard !
For someone who doesn't work in these programs, you did a good job explaining them.
Seeing the new model dance in the end makes it so satisfying like a good work and effort put into this. Great video man
Always a pleasure to watch someone who is a porfessional in an IT field to work. Nice job.
This is a phenomenal video that showcases phenomenal work. Comprehensive, well paced, explains the detail work without it becoming a bore and well edited from transitions to showcases. I want to see many more of your videos to come. Keep at it
Great video! I really liked how it was edited going through everything and explaining the different programs and functions
The dance animation at the end was perfect
This is absolutely amazing!! I would love to see monsters redone by you but this alone is honestly so dope, kinda wish the game had these graphics
Thanks for summarizing how you did it! This model you made did not disappoint me.
I don't usually comment under videos but yes i do love this format. love how much i learned from this. please do more.
i always wanted to know about the whole process. this video is a perfect introduction! thank you for making it
The entire gaming and developer community have come out in support of this game and its developer.
I love how the inscyrption sound effects are used. Amazing video.
This is incredible! I hope that this video reaches the maker of Lethal Company, and you guys are able to chat. It would be amazing to see something like this in the base game!
This video is a great explanation for the asset/modelling pipeline!
I’ve always been left confused and overwhelmed by the complexity of blender’s UI
The editing on this video was far beyond what I was expecting, fantastic job and instant sub.
I loved you walking us through the work-flow of creating this model!
