I’m not a big fan of either but the peated would be my preference. I’m moving away from sherry bombs lately and prefer Bourbon casks. I have a dryer palette. But sometimes I like some sherry. The addition of port is a bit much for me! Great thoughts! I do like the latest Ardbeg with port cashing. Very nice with the smoke but pricey at about $165 before taxes here in Canada. These would be about $125 or $135 Canadian and I think that’s pricey for what you get. I prefer Islay scotch! Cheers!!
Christine, I was actually thinking just this a month or two ago, my palette has switched too although there are times where I really enjoy syrupy sweet but most of the time I’m bourbon cask too now. I used to prefer the springbank and redbreast 12 CS but now I mainly reach for the bourbon cask 15 year olds and I’ve realised I don’t have too many purely bourbon casks so I need to reorganise my sherry/bourbon % in the future so I’m with you on that. I’m sure that ardbeg is lovely but I rarely reach for the limited editions due to the prices of them, out of my budget at this moment in time but I would imagine port would mix really really well with the ardbeg DNA! 😊
Great walkthrough. The 12 was an early favourite and continues to have a sweet spot for me. I don't think I've had this Traditionally Peated. I would love to try as I appreciate peat and port! Thanks for sharing
