Yeah when I first opened the Stiureadair, I wasn’t blown away but I came back to it at the start of the year and really really enjoyed it for that price tag like you say, it’s just incredible value! I don’t want to rub salt in the wounds but… I really like that bottling! 😁 but what I will say is that i don’t find it complex nor mind blowingly good. For me, it’s one of my favourite affordable relaxed easy going sippers and I just reach for it all the time but maybe if you see that offer again… go for it 😉 and then come back and blame me if you don’t enjoy it!

Wow what an experience! I must admit, an octomore bottling has always been a dream of mine to one day buy. That’s an interesting point, I’ve had a few unique whiskies that aren’t my favourite but I do feel like they’re always worth praising for giving something different and giving the mind something else to think about and that’s worth a lot just in itself, cheers!

I actually picked up the Elijah but just the 47% a couple months ago and I really enjoy it so the cask strength is something that’s high up on the priority list for me so I think we definitely agree on that amongst a lot of others! The Corry appears at no.2 for me in my top 5 islay video that I’ll post soon, it’s incredible so I can see why you have it as your top 2 of the year. Haven’t tried any Balcones yet but I’ve written it down since you’ve recommended it and an Octomore is certainly a whisky I hope to one day buy a bottle of! Cheers!

Hi Ross, thanks for your feedback, the reason I started with the music was to hide road noise and also I’m on a train station so it does a really good job at drowning out those noises but I will try to reduce the loudness of the music in upcoming videos. I’ve recently bought a wireless mic which should do a much better job of not picking up those noises so once I start filming with it then hopefully the audio will improve for you

@WhiskyWars Thank you for getting back, Ash. Yes, I think it was more the volume that the music was played. That was the issue. You deliver good quality reviews. However, I was distracted by the music. Funnily enough, straight after watching your video, I watched "The Whisky Novices" latest video. Low and behold, it had a music track, but it was hardly audible. I don't think I'd actually noticed it before. Keep up the excellent content.👍 Just make sure the music is low volume.

I hear a lot of people experience this with Bunnahabhain so it’s clearly something to do with their corks. Not a nice experience when it happens is it! 😅 I think you have to be quick on opening and drinking them because their corks degrade fast

I don’t think so but don’t quote me on it! I know 100% they’re doing the 21 year old at cask strength this year and I think I read from them that they were not doing the 12 for 2024. Big disappointment yes because even at 46%ABV the 21 would be way out of my budget 😅

I’ll definitely look into it, if I could return the favour, I really like the Stuiradaer (always spell it wrong!) it’s less sherried and these days I actually prefer it to the 12 and it’s just £25 when on sale! Sounds like it could be more your thing. This cask strength truly is delicious though but be aware of the sherry. If you do go for it, definitely go for this 2023 edition and not the more sherried 2022 🙂

It varies a lot but certainly you can get super lucky and pick them up for retail! But I’d imagine you could pick a few up for a lot less than the price I said, it’s just luck of the draw I guess! I’ve got my 🤞 for you on your upcoming visit. I’ve yet to try a Hazelburn, they seem very tasty! Congrats on the purchase

I was going to recommend #1 and 2 but I just remembered I included them in the rankings at the end so you already know what I’d recommend 😅 laphroaig is one of my all time favourites too but there’s some real quality in ardbeg too and they seem to get tastier the closer to winter that we get so it’s a great time to pick one up! Love the smoked meat note too, very common with ardbeg I find!

Haha yeah I think in some places it’s been a bit ridiculously priced which is unfortunate but it’s still tasty, I like it but it doesn’t get into the core range whiskies for me but I think that’s the case for most of the limited editions from what I hear! I honestly just don’t see many whiskies at 47.4% with that flavour get close to the wee beastie for £30 it’s got to be one of the best bang for your buck scotch out there. Thanks again man and I’ll try haha 🥃

Cheers! It seems like most people in the comments have corry down as their favourite which surprises me! I always thought it would be the Uig but I’m glad I’m no longer shouting for the corry on my own (or at least I thought) 😅 but I just adore the 5 for its bang 4 buck quality

Thank you and congrats on picking up the springbank for £66! I’ve just accepted that my springbank days are over because it’s just as hard to get them here in the UK now so you’ve done really well there. Totally agree with you on the PC10, I do think strangely it’s still a quite underrated whisky and I don’t know why, age stated, 50%ABV and tasty for an affordable price, what’s not to like! Cheers 🥃

@WhiskyWars Here in Sweden, every time something is released from Springbank, Hazelburn, Longrow and now often even Kilkerran, all the bottles disappears in seconds, so it's almost like a lottery 😂😂...the fastest finger wins

@bluesmanen1 that’s so true! I’ve never had the chance to buy a Hazelburn which I’d love to try, we can get a Longrow and Kilkerren release every now and then but springbank and Hazelburn, no chance. My fingers just aren’t quick enough! 😂
