    The CRV looks bigger from the outside as the front and rear areas don't slope towards the ground. Very well done.

    TFL is probably the car channel I watch most. I like their over all honesty and non scripted reviews. However, in reviews like this one, I wish they had more details about the cars. For example, there weren't much info about why the Toyota wasn't as good as the others, or why the ford was exceptionally nice. I hope that in future reviews you could mention what car has more to offer in terms of value and comfort. Thank you!

      MrPensiveThinker came here to say similar stuff. I've been watching a ton of car reviews on TH-cam lately and the TFL stuff, in my opinion, lacks a lot of basic information. Non scripted to me makes for awkward pauses and a lot of "it's nice! "This is great" and other nonsense.

    Purchased a 2017 Escape Titanium 3 weeks ago. Looked at them from the outside and thought they had "to much" going on on the dash and looked strange. Recessed display in the center touch screen looked hard to use. Wanted something simple and square like the Rav 4. Test rode the Escape and loved it. Comfortable and mainly I didn't want the Honda cause I don't like the way the shift is. Half on the floor, half on the dash kinda. Plus i think it has that CVT Transmission I think ? Don't know if I would get used to that or even like it. Watched some videos on it and it's 50/50 on opinions. Decided on the Escape since I traded in a 2002 Escape that never had any problems. It had around 200HP with the V-6 and had some power, couldn't see myself buying a Rav 4 and giving up some power. Plus I just don't like the way the front of the Rav 4 looks for some reason. Never test rode one, was going to, but after test driving the Escape I didn't look any further. Brother has a 2016 Rav 4. I asked him about it and he just says "it's ok". Not extremely happy. Just "ok". Decided on the Escape since it has a choice of engine options. I got the Titanium with the 2.0 Turbo. Not broke in yet but I can tell it will move real nice. 245HP I think or 240? Couldn't see myself spending $30k + to give up power. Escape feels like my old 02' Escape, nice ride and kinda sporty. Handles real nice.

    The 2017 CR-V is offered with the updated Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System™. Software and hardware upgrades result in an increase in engine torque (up to a total of 40-percent) that can be sent to the rear wheels, based on the driving conditions. The result is improved performance in low traction conditions when AWD comes into play.

    I'm not a Hybrid guy, but I bought the RAV4 Hybrid Limited (instead of the normal trim) not because I wanted a hybrid, but because it flies. Honda definitely would not have wanted to compare it because it would smoke those other SUVs. The torque of that electric note is awesome. I own a 4Runner with a v8 and it keeps up to 100mph. Speaking of Honda reliability, I traded in a 2014 Odyssey EXL after numerous transmission issues, warped brake rotors, etc. Honda/Acura lost an 18 year customer because they aren't reliable any more and I love the RAV4. I think it looks better too.

    Our 2017 CR-V Touring is awesome. Been through 2 generations of Accord EX-L/Sport and actually traded my wife's 2017 Accord EX-L with NAV with only 2800 miles for this last week! We actually didn't take a bath like we would on a totally depreciated American car and the driving experience is AWESOME! A 1.5L Turbo with more HP than my 2017 Accord Sport! Amazing! We're Honda fans all the way and the CR-V is the best in class crossover out there!

    I complain about this in every single comment section about honda and I won't stop until something is done about it.
    Why is your infotainment all capacitive touch? I'm glad they brought back the volume knob but all of those little capacitive controls on the left should be physical buttons and here is why.
    If you have capacitive buttons, ESPECIALLY ones that can change their function and appear / disappear in different modes (radio vs usb vs gps for example) it forces you to take your eyes off the road to not only figure out if they are there at all, but to figure out where they are.
    That is just unsafe. I know I know it only takes a moment to figure out where they are and hit it but it is an UNECCISARY moment of attention being taken from you. I don't know a single person that has had a car with capacitive buttons like this for any long period of time that has gone "You know what, I'm really glad my car has no buttons it looks super sleek when its off and I find that cool"
    You wanna know what they all say?
    "Why the fuck aren't these buttons this is just annoying"
    No one fucking wants it. It's unsafe. And it's unnecessary. I'm fine with the infotainment being a touch screen and all that, that's fine. But there are certain controls that should just simply have physical buttons so that muscle memory can use them without looking while on the road. All I ask is for these controls to be physical;
    -All climate controls, from temperature to output to defrosters etc
    -Volume
    -Media source (a button to bring up the options for your source like radio, usb, aux)
    -Tuning. Either a knob or at least a physical button to bring up your radio tuning options
    -Settings. A general button to bring up the settings option like display brightness, langauge, etc.
    -Voice commands. I don't think anyone has made this control capacitive yet but I hope it stays this way.
    Thats it. Everything else can be capacitive touch or buried in a menu but those controls need to be physical and not context sensitive (aka appearing and disappearing depending on different contexts) so that they can be used while driving without being another distraction.
    This was one of the deciding factors for me when I bought a car recently. I nearly went with the Honda Fit or HR-V but decided instead to go with the Scion / Toyota Corolla iM because when I drove it I wasn't driven mad by the infotainment system.

    the real question is... did Honda fix the vibration issues or are they still calling it a feature. signed, 2016 owner

    • @jgizzy
      @jgizzy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What vibration issue? Where does this vibration emanate from? The only common vibration I've noticed on 15-16 CR-V's that I really didn't like is the gas pedal has a buzz to it when I depress it. Don't like that, but it seems many other people don't notice it.

    I have been buying Fords for over 50 years. But when they started supporting NFL players kneeling during our national anthem, I wrote Ford a letter telling them how disappointed I was with them supporting the protest. They wrote back and told me that it was the players right to kneel during the anthem in protest So last Thursday I went and traded in my 2015 Titanium Ford Escape for a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Limited. I won't ever buy another Ford, but I really do love my RAV4, lots more room inside, and the standard 2.5 L engine has lots of power, and even new, it is getting better gas mileage than my 30 month old Ford Escape.

    Should I trade in the 2011 for a '17 CRV?

    • @jgizzy
      @jgizzy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hell yes. The '11 Pilot is crap compared to the new '17 CR-V. I work at a Honda dealership and test drive brand new cars all day for pre-delivery inspections and the 2009-2015 Pilots are leagues behind the new CR-V which is obvious enough to say. If you test drive the new CR-V check out the premium stereo and the power adjustment on the front part of the seat bottoms which I find very cool. I also suspect the lane departure mitigation system on the new CR-V is more advanced than the 16-17 Pilots, but I'd have you be the judge on that.

    TFL, I'm sure I am not the only one subscribed to you guys that wants to see it, but I would really appreciate a fresh review/comparison of the small SUV's on the market, specifically the ones that come with 4wd. I have a little one and a wife who is begging to get out of her 07 fusion; yeah, and so we are in the market for this particular category. But I would prefer to get something that would be less... castrating... to drive on a regular basis. Maybe you guys could try putting some off road tires on them and taking these and a few other competitors up the mountain... Soccer mom shootout... 0-60s... mud and snow... an IKE gauntlet... you know, all the stuff a dad would do with mommies car when he takes the keys...

    How can this be objective when the reviewer thanked Honda for flying him out?
    I purchased the Rav 4 because I plan on driving it for 20 years.
    The Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) with its pulley design will not outlast the six speed gear transmission in the RAV4.
    When the CVT goes out plan on $4,500 to fix it in today's dollars.
    The extra few miles per gallon the CVT provides over the six speed gear transmission doesn't sound like a big savings when the rubber band transmission snaps.

      plus the direct injection engine with all the carbon build up issues and turbos will need $$$ spent on maintenance where Rav4 will never have such issues, its not only about looks people, if you plan on keeping the car long term, Rav4 is a much better choice

    Motor Trends recent test of the 2017 CRV's real mileage. Turbo 4 mileage is very much dependent on how you drive. If you drive like your grandmother you might get the mileage they claim. Other than that the new CRV is really nice. I'd get the RAV 4 in a heartbeat with the V6 option back.

    The Ford shouldn't even count or be in this video, I mean even this guy was struggling to say good things about the car. A good mashup would be the 2017 CX-5 since that is completely redone.

      Not always true,
      because if what you are saying is true 99% of car buyers in Europe and Asia are changing cars every 60-100k miles, which dosent happen, still I will agree turbos are not as reliable as NA engines, simple as that, still in this modern age very few keep cars post 100k miles,and for that reason turbos make huge sense

    I was starting to think the Honda might have something, though I prefer Ford's styling. Toyota, ehhh! But the comment as to how genuine your evaluation of Honda was came info question when you thanked Honda for flying you to Northern California. I don't believe you can be completely be unbiased when your meal and plane tickets (and accommodations) are literally being paid by Honda.

    but the crv competes with the ford flex n Toyota Highlander. the only Honda that competes with rav4 n scape would be the hrv...

    • @Jwlbrooks
      @Jwlbrooks 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you're kidding right? the CR-V is a compact SUV. Just like the Rav4 and Escape. The Highlander and Flex (and Ford Explorer) are midsize SUV's all with 3rd rows. You know kinda like well the HONDA PILOT... The HR-V is a SUB-compact SUV comparable to the Nissan Juke, Subaru Crosstrek, Chevy Trax. Cars like that. Little tiny tiny SUVs.

    • @jonathanguzman5559
      @jonathanguzman5559 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Brooks every flex I've seen doesn't have 3rd row. I would assume the pilot goes against 4runner, pathfinder, explorer

    • @Jwlbrooks
      @Jwlbrooks 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      build a flex on fords website. it literally has a third row standard. as does the highlander... the crv is compact as well as the rav and the escape.
