My Hijet fuel pump just crapped out. Symptom - the truck would intermittently die, presumably from fuel exhaustion. I noticed that it only happens when the fuel tank is less than half full. Sure enough, that's the level of the fuel pump so it's apparently gravity feeding through the fuel pump when the tank is full. I checked after driving it today (full tank so it ran well) and the fuel pump was hot to the touch so it's apparently stuck in the open position that allows fuel to flow through it. The stalled motor is overheating the fuel pump and that may be vaporizing the fuel and causing a vapor lock. I was going to replace it with a genuine Daihatsu part but my mini truck has an electric fuel pump near the fuel tank and the $111 fuel pump is apparently a mechanical fuel pump. I ordered a $12 universal fuel pump on Amazon.
LOL, red squirrel problem. Can't leave a rig sit idle very long anywhere in NH. Sympathies from another Sambar owner. I have had my air filter housing and throttle body packed with lichen and bird feathers, all the way down to jamming the choke plate. The rodents chewed a three inch hole through the air filter. The little gray critters like to live inside the console on our Kubota tractor as well, feasting on the wires. Best thing to do is get a cat that likes to hunt. We have a lazy bunch right now.
it may be easier to install an inline 12volt fuel pump. they will do away with the issues you are having. work great on race engines so should be fine with those little engines
im like, wait that says new hampshire! Im getting one soon! probably the sambar due to the 4cyl, and if i can find one with a supercharge ill get that. Where did you find yours?
they were early 80s Audi 4000 2wd wheels..pretty cool right?! They are a very similar design to early 90s VW Jetta Wolfsburg wheels (probably the same) 4x100
