    I played this at a bowling alley in the 80's in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
    Never seen it anywhere else.
    Watching your overview of it, I realize now it's Pacman with extra steps lol.
    Amazing that you have one of these machines, extremely rare.

      Thanks bud, it's really a super innovative idea by Bally / Midway. I'm not sure how far I'm going to go with the restoration. It's mostly the pinball section that needs a tune up. It's uncharted waters for me but I'm looking forward to doing it. Thanks so much for watching my friend!

    Love BPM. I have had mine a few years now and almost have it done. I have a restored and cleared playfield and lots of new parts. Only thing left is the cabinet needs some TLC. I almost purchased Granny and The Gators to have the pair but backed out.

  • @brentrusche2056

    @Retro Ralph,
    I remember playing Baby Pac-Man in the arcade (a Showbiz Pizza joint if memory servers correctly). It was an absolute quarter-muncher, but I always loved the video/pinball hybrid model. Baby Pac-Man was also superior to another hybrid called Granny & The Gators.
    Since my hopes of ever owning (and having to maintain!) one of these machines is something left to only the wealthiest of individuals, I am more than happy converting an ALP running the VPX version of the table with good accuracy. What's more, the 3/4 scale of the ALP is perfect for running this pint-sized game!
    Congratulations on the acquisition and look forward to more videos covering this cabinet.
    Cheers,
    Brent

    @RetroRalph why can't you just replace the MPU battery instead of the whole board?

    • @RetroRalph
      @RetroRalph  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure you could but I would rather avoid all the potential issues with the board down the road. I plan to replace the power board and the lighting and driver board as well. Just refresh everything and give it the best chance for survival. It also has an over-voltage protection circuit that protects the MPU from potential power issues. Thanks for watching bud!

    I'm a guy that definitely racked up hundreds of arcade hours growing up during the 80s and I remember this game always being around. The odd thing about it is that it was always left alone and very few played it. I played it a few times and I guess what didn't click was that playing the pinball side of the game felt too awkward due to the small setting. If they had made it a regular size pinball game with a screen to play Pac-Man, I'm sure it would've been a bigger hit.

    Altek MPU is a good product, however, you can snip the Battery on the MPU and replace it with a Remote Battery to keep from getting acid all over you MPU and Vidiot Board. The Large Cap on the Power Supply will need to be replaced too. I think Vidiot board was only used on BPM and Granny-and-they-Gators. I have a NOS (10/10) GLASS "Marquee" for Baby Pac-Man (from back in the days when I was hard-core into Pinballs and collected Back Glasses to hang on my walls for decorations). Let me know if you or someone you know is interested in it (to restore a BPM).

    Sorta neat. I use to love Pacman Pinball. This is like a miniature version that plays a bit different.

    Whys does the Big Red vs Big Blue shirt have a normal Neo Geo and not a Big Red Neo Geo?

    • @RetroRalph
      @RetroRalph  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They used the wrong image, I didn't make the shirt. The company that did is in the video description, they make pretty cool stuff though.

      @@RetroRalph we lived in Hanover, which isn’t too far from Boston. My mom was stationed in Quincy, my dad in Newport, RI on the USS Valdez. He would make that commute every day (except when he had night duty). They were both eventually transferred to Norfolk, VA where we are all originally from so we settled here. Some of my favorite memories though were going to see the 4th of July parades in Bristol!

    I knew I wasn't crazy thinking that there was a Pacman game that incorporated a pinball machine! I thought it was Jr. Pacman but after a few minutes of looking around I found this video. Unique concept but it apparently never caught on.

    Thanks for posting this. I heard about this game when I was a teen, but never saw it. I heard some weird thing about it being a video game and a pinball game. It was all true! :)
    I'm surprised by the video game part, because the graphics for the ghosts look more primitive than they were for Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man. They remind me of what the 8-bit ports of Pac Man looked like.
