    Question how did the Bears pass on CJ if CJ didn’t go number #1? It always puzzles me. Bryce Young was consensus #1 shouldn’t that be the comparison.

    • @ShadyAcacia
      @ShadyAcacia 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The bears didn’t pass on CJ cause they didn’t even hold the pick going into the draft. If CJ would have went to Chicago last year that would mean no DJ Moore and that would have been ugly. He’s lucky the bears didn’t draft him

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I guess because technically they had the option to draft him if they wanted. Plus since Bryce Young has essentially done nothing I don’t think people think much of him.

      Agree, B.Young should be in comparison. 🐻⬇

      All these ex athletes do it. It’s like a mind virus. I just don’t know why. Do they think it lakes them seem more hardcore? That sports itself is more hardcore than it really is?

    You missed the whole point of his statement, he's saying that he's going to be connected to CJ Stroud because the bears passed up on Stroud due to trading with the Panthers for the #1 pick that ended up being Caleb. So because of that they are going to treat this like the trubisky/mahomes situation

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn’t miss that part. Lol. I get his logic. I just disagree.

  • @ImreallyIzzy

    I think he’s saying they’ll be connected because the Bears passed on CJ the year before

    • @JWLSports

      Yeah I get that. I just think they both will be compared to Mahomes more than anything.

    Bears did not pass on Stroud. We would have taken Carter or Anderson at 1 if we stayed imo

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But that’s still passing on Stroud technically.

    These talking heads are just dumb looking for rage bait. Williams ain’t gotta do shit but enough to win. He doesn’t have to do shit but his part to win at some point in his career with the bears.

    Stroud will not better this year than he was last year. But I do agree they are linked in that the Bears could have drafted Stroud but decided not to. But I do wish ppl wouldn't forget that Williams is a rookie. 2023 Stroud not withstanding.

      Why won’t Stroud continue to improve?

    • @Mr.DerekReese
      @Mr.DerekReese 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JWLSports Exactly! Stroud will have a deeper understanding of the offense, he's already established synergetic rapport with his teammates, and he's gonna have more weapons to work with in year 2. I understand the whole sophomore slump thing, but there's always exceptions. I'd be shocked if Stroud doesn't finish top 5 in MVP voting this upcoming season.

  • @travisoshea
    @travisoshea 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Man you could not be more right about the “goat” conversation or people expecting these young guys to be the absolute BEST.
    Your point about Manning is also soo true!!!
    And yes again you are right. Houston wasn’t even expecting to content for a playoff spot.
    The comparison and or expectation to have a better season than Stroud is just ridiculous. Firstly, in life people all have different potentials and learn and grow at different rates. This is no different. Maybe Stroud is a fast learner and may peak faster. Maybe Williams really hits his stride in his 3rd or 5th year.

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly! I think we are at peak GOAT mania in every sport these days. ABs every new young player is asked if they can be the goat. Wembanyama, Caleb, Ohtani, Caitlin Clark etc. It’s just never going to end at this point. Another Caleb will come around in 5 years.

    I think he’s saying they’ll be forever linked because the bears had the opportunity to take CJ last year. So no matter who plays better now or has the better career, he’s saying that the conversation will always be “the bears blew it because they passed on CJ and took Caleb” or “the bears finally got it right by passing on CJ and taking Caleb” but the comparison will always be there. Just like the Mahomes v. Trubisky. Just like they did last year with Justin v. CJ.
    I believe that’s the point he’s trying to make. Not necessarily having anything to do with the actual players involved keeping the narrative alive but that’s what the media does.

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yet I totally get that. And it's a fair point. But I just think if Caleb balls out he will be linked to Mahomes more than anything.

    @jctslice 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Does he though ? Does he have to be ? If he has let's say the rookie stats of Herbert, but the team doesn't win a ton for whatever reason, is that still a disappointment for Caleb ? If he has underwhelming stats maybe, but Chicago wins a decent amount still, is that better ? Idk, i think we have to take it case by case. I don't always think we should have a 1 size fits all approach with QBs. They're not all the same or in the same situations

    • @JWLSports
