    So I’m seeing some mixed reviews on crank snout possibly breaking. We are open to ideas!!! Please share but only if you personally have experience with This stuff. Not your opinion or what your buddys buddy says!! The crank is getting double pinned. From what we see it’s just like an LS setup as far as how far out it hangs. We have major issues with any other type of belt setup…. Even the V rib style because of the motor plates. That’s what made this so difficult and is dragging it on. We think the way we are going to machine the piece will be ok. It will be flush with the front of the serpentine setup. Please let us know!!! Any help is appreciated!!

    IT LOOKS LIKE the serpentine belt accessory drive setup that is currently on your engine is an aftermarket kit. If you put factory GM big block serpentine accessory brackets and pulleys on there (from roughly 1998, for example) I bet your blower drive setup will work without modification. It's hard to tell on video but that's how it looks to me from my point of view. Just my $0.02. EDIT: I now read your pinned comment about the motor plates. Those plates would probably prevent you from using factory accessory brackets. Carry on, sir...

    • @watahyahknow
      @watahyahknow ปีที่แล้ว

      think he has an engine plate in the front with will likely hit the back of the alternator and powersteering pump from wat i can see , he might be able to mount the lower and tuck it under the heads but then theres a lot of junk trown towards it from the tires or mount it higher mounted on each side of the blower drive of a puley mounted to that for instance and have it stick out the bonnet

    • @SlipFitGarage
      @SlipFitGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      @@watahyahknow Yeah.... if you read my entire comment I eventually mention the motor plates.

    If you set it up right you only need the alternator belt and that's it but you have to run an electric water pump and an electric power steering pump . that way the supercharger is nice and clear from the whole drive assemble on front of the engine . any good electric water pump will work and for the power steering you can get an electric one from Speed master for 160 bucks . besides the reduced parasitic loss it's going to be bad enough with the blower it just makes the whole set up look a lot cleaner .

    the route your going should work out for you... back in the day, we ran 8-71 blowers on our street cars. the only thing i can say that will snap the crank is having the belt set to tight. we always ran a 1/2" side to side play in our belts. ( i learned that after snapping a 3" belt) OH! another thing that will snap the crank is a massive nitrous backfire.. ☻ also CVF Racing has a complete bolt on All Inclusive Supercharged Serpentine Conversion Kit for Big Block Chevy.

    I wonder if you can put a couple of periscope inlet metal tubes that mount to the blower with some type of rubber adapter so you don't have mud being forced into the blower from other mud boggers ????? I'd hate to hear that your intake was destroyed due to debris.

    If you are going to convert the big block Chevy truck to a blower you are going to have to run a short water pump or electric your going to have to have a double key way crank a solid double key way balancer or it’s going to rip the snoot of the crank shaft off. Best bet is to run the stainless multi layer kinetic head gaskets don’t use head bolts use arp stud kit.

  • @dondagy9109
    @dondagy9109 ปีที่แล้ว

    Usually you use a short water pump, v belts, low mount alternator, and usually a manual steering box to ditch the steering pump. Then just a single v belt pulley goes behind the crank pulley, and just spin the water pump and alt. If you can do electric water pump its even easier. Edit, the system is that far forward because the alternater is usually above the valve cover on a serp setup stock.

    think you still need either a spacer for the top pulley or a longer snout for the blower
    kind of wonder why you dont have an overhead crane in the shop , or a forklift with a crane extenton bolted to it
    it isnt the first realy tall truck you have in there to work on the engine and it be way eazier to lift heavy things in and out of those trucks with a crane / forklift , if only to save youre back or the parts youre lugging up a rickity ladder from getting damaged (a cheap roll around raised platform probably be nice too as it alows you to climb from one tire passed the front over to the other tire without having to climb down

  • @chrisdobbs9155
    @chrisdobbs9155 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gotta fabricate but i don't think spacing that belt way out is the answer. Everything on that serpentine belt you need can be relocated easily. Heck you can probably buy brackets somewhere, but the easiest solution is to move that stuff. And you need the electric water pump anyway if you're going to relocate the radiator.
