ZealSeraph I kinda agree with you about the game. History is nice, always have something going on with the world, rebellion and stuff, you can interact with other npcs by keywords and items, but... All the training you need to do specially when learning new spell is awful.
I am a fan mr. Onimage. I listen to your videos while working and most of the games that you do a recapitation are my kind of games. Please keep it up. I know gamers like us will always find their way to your videos and appreciate your efforts ♡
this story has more deaths than Hamlet lol jeez, even at the start of the game you die. Minwu dies, Cid dies, Ricard dies, Josef dies, the king dies, even the emperor himself died lol
Aerith was also a lot more developed as a character by the point of her death, adding to the significance. This game was just a "Oh look, my latest temporary companion died again. Wonder who's the replacement now?" loop.
Tei Sure, I agree. I think it was a more significant death than the ones in this game. (Though I took the death in FFV pretty hard. Lol) However; My issue is there's people that think Aerith was the FIRST death in a Final Fantasy game, which is false. It wouldn't grind my gears if it were only regular people but I've read reviews from actual websites and a magazine (one) that stated it was an important moment because it was the first death of a party member in Final Fantasy. As a longtime fan, that was blasphemous. Lol
I did start on ff7, fell in love with the franchise from there and went back to replay the translated japanese roms of the earlier games when I had a PC. So order of playing may have added more significant to Aerith for me personally. But yeah, she totally wasn't the first death in the franchise regardless of how much focus/importance the game put on it. People who haven't played, or even know about, a franchise shouldn't be pretending to be experts on it I definitely agree with you there! I haven't read those reviews, or i'd of raged out in their comments and lost a lot of respect for their editors.
I remember the black and white masks took me forever to get. The dungeons were confusingly maze-like and incredibly long (in terms of number of random encounters). Or maybe it's just me.
The first two game stories aren't anything to write home about. But FF2 does a really great job at setting up conflicts since the story is focused on the battles that span the continents. I just wish we saw more of Emperor Palamecia. He only had two or three scenes in this game, and it kinda hurts his oppressive stature as this evil figure who desires nothing but ruling the world.

To be fair, "crushed under the might of Ultima" (around the 15:25 mark), I believe the original version of FF2 has a bug purposely put in it as sort of a gag that made Ultima an overall underwhelming and weak spell compared to the remakes (where said bug was removed).

The advanced remake makes leveling up/ getting stronger easier... So I trained a lot where some of the easy bosses are just common enemies elsewhere and it was easy. @@akeyrtainment8507 I would love to see a full on proper remake similar to what was done with 7. FF2 felt like reading a first draft script of what could become a great film. Take the opening scene of the heroes being chased through the forest by evil solders on horse back, in the original game this looks pretty crap, just a basic forest back drop and four pictures of guys on horses but with modern production values this would make an epic moment. The whole game has these moments that don't look special but if they were worked on would really surprise people.
