A great day for the residents of Leilani Estates. May you now be able to finally start healing and put this disruptive event behind you. My love and thoughts are with you all, as some sort of normality returns to your lives. Thanks Scott for recording yet another piece of history. Hugs for the furbabies.
An emotional time. Remembering what all you folks have been through, the days and nights we have tuned in to follow this unfolding eruption. It has been , no word has been created to express what we have seen, it's just been ever thing. Lets just take time to spare a thought for those who have lost ever thing, those who will be returning to a home that has been damaged and also for those people who have lived through this for all these months. That is you Scott, thank you for sharing this trying time, we are so with you, even from so far away. Kilauea, we know you are not done, but please have a rest a long one please.
It's so nice to see a chapter of this drama closing. I hope the community can keep these painted barricades and create a place that records the history of this event. It must feel really good to see this happen today. Congrats!!!!
Wow, open roads. Great fun with big toys! Goodbye barrier graffiti, it was nice to meet you. Glad you've been immortalized on cool t shirts. Mahalo, Scott and Gabe
That's wonderful. About time. Bye bye barricade. Brilliant record of this. We have those barricades immortalized thanks to Robert Criss. Think I'll grab myself a tote bag or a scarf (maybe both) to celebrate their removal.
YAYYYY!!! THEY'RE GONE!! Scott, I am sooo happy for you and all of the residents there! It was cool watching the trucks and the removal of those barriers! At the point where you were showing Gabe filming, the backup beepers were sounding while you and Gabe were backing up. Funny! Neat he was there, too. Oh, so happy! You chatting with the resident that's been gone since May 3rd was interesting. Almost too much to believe for him. Such a great feeling! And I'm all the way in Pennsylvania! Lol. Just very happy for you all! Thank you for showing this! Til soon! ~ Barb :-D ♡
I'm raising a brandy to you all. Cheers and a happy day ! Scott you have sounded so excited , like a young 'un waiting for Christmas Eve and Santa Claus to arrive! May everyone's homecoming be smooth and their lives peaceful and calm again. Blessings Fay in UK.
Hi Gabe! Hello and congrats to all the neighbors there to see the barricades come down! They're part of indelible memories for you all of a time of upheaval. We virtual viewers joyfully join with you bidding them goodbye! 👋
HALLELUJAH!! SO happy for you all! If I had been there you would have been able to video me jumping over one of the barriers after they had at least removed the first one. A jump for joy!
So glad to see those barriers leaving! Thanks for documenting this part of the story too. I just saw Charles Doing Hawaii update. Very interesting. I'm so glad you told us about him. And I'm glad I found your channel too. It has been quite the adventure.
Just got back from vacay and doing catch-up. You can bet I'm watching all of this. Been here since early May and seeing the barricades pulled out is so wonderful. Whoopee!
I wasn't sure what I was expecting after the intro when cut to the side. I could hear the noise of a heavy diesel coming I was waiting for some bulldozer or a tank to come ploughing through the barricades, took me aback to see the truck coming around the corner. Anyway I am chuffed for you Scott and Charles and Gabe and all of the residence of Leilani Estates, must have been exciting. Happy tours 😄
So glad to see the open g of the roads. Thank you for all the many many hours you have spend, the honest reporting and the true feelings you put out here with each post. Mahalo and Aloha!
Awesome sauce!!! Glad to see life is getting somewhat back to some kind of normal. People can access their property and start making plans to rebuild their lives. Prayers for them all. I loved how you talked with the man at the end of the video and he missed the glow! Thank you for these video Scott
And that's one big "Happy, happy, joy, joy!" for Leilani. I've got a big smile on my face and teary eyes watching this.Just got back from vacay and was catching up. Wow!
forgot to ask Gabe but what is going to happen to that wonderful art work on the barriers - it is now a part of Hawaii history - I would think that it should be shown somewhere on Leilani Estates - what are your thoughts - thank you for showing this from another angle - was intersting to watch Gabe's then your video - you need to get new folks on your board -- got your hands full out there - hope you don't get too much rain from the next hurricane coming your way- take care
You are one cool customer Scott! Thanks for showing the art on the other side of the barriers, the lava with a face is great as well as the other images we can see in your video. Thank-you so much!
Hi Scott! Today is my birthday and what a nice gift to see those barricades gone! I am so happy for you and all the residents there to see this finally happen.
I'll have have to check out gabes uploaded video of Scott ,well look at that there, the barricades are gone, people coming back to their own place pretty soon, wonder how it feels for them, now you can get down to the end of the road and see whatever there is to see, stay safe
Important step on the road back to normality, great stuff :-) Looking like Olivia won't jeopardise things too much, though with the sodden ground it might not take too much wind to take some albizias out.
Well Scottie...I'm so glad...you didn't have to go to Texas...I know you didn't want to come...but...I was worried...seems to be looking up now...and I am so happy for you...and your community...!!!
Is the forklift not allowed beyond the barricades that he is removing? He could have backed in to get most of them and get it over with instead of all the back and forth with the dump truck... I was hoping you were going to be there. Awesome day! So happy the residents can go do what they have to do and start living again. Hi Gabe.
It is not a fork lift. It is called a low boy. The mechanics of weight distribution is much different than a fork lift. Going behind the barricades would require going off pavement. Meaning, sinking into passible saturated soil not supported by strong lava. The backing the trailer, assists the low boy operator with the heavy weight, from having to turn and steer his tires. This way the truck operator helps the operator distribute the heavy weight onto the trailer for the best balance for weight distribution on tongue of trailer and across the trailer axles for safe travels. Also. Work place safety, for the persons on the ground assisting with the hooking the chains. You can see in the second intersection the low boy operator, has more freedom to turn because the truck has limited space to travel. His fork arm will stretch out and pick up the last one. Which the video, does not show. Because the did not follow to the end to the last concrete barrier being picked up. No, I swear, the fork arm extends, some up to 10 to 12 feet from the front wheels. Thats why they call it a low boy.
It was in early June 2018 when Gabe Humphries send his 58K subscribers to Scott’s AHT channel to watch more Leilani lava videos and to help with the numbers. I was one of them. It was 58K back then but it’s growing more now. Nice to see Gabe in this video, but where’s Scott’s face? Unfair.
Just so happy to see this going. But it reminds me of the many people who have lost so much. I do hope that the state will be helping them to re-establish somewhere. They need that help now. I guess the tour operators are now working on new ways to do the tours to include a view of the lava. Take care of yourself, Scott! And give those two gorgeous boys of yours a scritch from me. Yes, a new word for them!
you're getting a lot of play on the facebook. this is like the 3rd or 4th time i've gotten here from a link in there. the group name is hawaii tracker.
Bye, bye, barricades. I am glad we have souvenirs of your visit on the RedBubble site, but honestly, we were beginning to think you were the guests who would not leave! LOL
Another video😀feeling spoilt, thank you. So pleased for you all. 😲Gabe...😲 Scott lol just need Peter and Charles...then all my Hawaii channels are there lolz Gosh I hope they keep Robert's amazing art on concrete barriers?
I actually think that I remember seeing them in someone's earlier videos in another place. I just don't remember whose or when. So I think they were painted before they came to Leilani. Guess that means they may be kept and used again elsewhere. But Robert has immortalized them on the Barricades design for the people of Leilani and the AHT ohana. Mahalo Robert!
I think in some of the videos from the early days of the eruption, it was stated that the barricades came from a park. Perhaps they are returning? Still, I am glad we can order souvenirs!
I’m so happy for you all ! Making progress towards normality 😊👍🏼This event still goes on and you have to keep following it Scott so we can see how people are doing , not to be voyueristic but because we care ❤️. I hope the are going to keep the barriers with the artwork & display somewhere too
This is so amazing and fantastic to see the first signs of life coming back to your neighborhood with them removing barricades and working on infrastructure! Too bad you did not know when the barricades were being removed exactly - I would have had everyone there for a party! So great to see those gone! Definitely a sign that you and the Icelandic volcanologist was right (no matter how much all the other 'experts ' laughed at him) I guess they finally agree with him that this one is done with. I know they did not want to since they gave him such a hard time when he said months ago that it would end in duly/Aug but you know - sometimes a person is right! I know they don't believe in his science but this is only the second time he has used it to forecast the dates of an erupt but now he is 2 for 2. I think sometimes experts forget how many times that someone has been derided by a profession because they do something that the profession has clung to the belief they cannot do it - and that one person prove that there is a way to do it. Of course his method won't work in all situations because its built on his theory about 'hot spots'. But anyway at least its often this time. Of course, one does wonder where the next spot will be. Well wherever, lets hope its no longer interested in Leilani Estates. It must seem great to now be able to walk down that street without those roadblocks there!
Wow I'm sure that it's great joy for you all and probably abit of sadness for the residents. Onwards and upwards to all of you. Kia kaha. Which means stay strong in Maori.
Significant day Scott! Congratulations to all of your Lei'lani friends! I do have a question. Will they bring in bulldozers and earth movers to cut through the lava? Recreate roads etc? Thanks, Marcus
No. Not yet. Inside it is still very hot and the freezed river of lava is deep and wide. Only the surface is cooled and that stuff is pretty hard. This will take time. Perhaps it is possible where the lava is not so thick or old enough but not at the barricade.
Things are definitely on the up plus a Blue Dome Day to add the icing on the cake. Enjoy yourself celebrating this Red Letter Day Scott with all the Leilani Residents.
I am surprised there was no news crew. You are the key to the video history of this whole event.
Those barrier blocks need to be in a museum. They are not only beatifully painted, but they are pieces of Hawaii's ongoing volcanic history.
I hope the blocks are saved in a museum too.
I agree
Not going to lie... a had a tear in my eye watching this. I am so happy for the residents in Leilani Estates! OMG... you met Gabe! Wow
Gosh, it’s hard to believe that you and Gabe are just now meeting for the first time.
A great day for the residents of Leilani Estates. May you now be able to finally start healing and put this disruptive event behind you. My love and thoughts are with you all, as some sort of normality returns to your lives.
Thanks Scott for recording yet another piece of history. Hugs for the furbabies.
Majorly FAR OUT!!!! You two, my faves, finally meet!!!! WOW!!! What a grand day!!! Refering to Gabe!!!!

I'm so glad Robert Crist immortalized the painted barricade in the art in your RedBubble shop.
Another beautiful moment captured by Scott! This one has been long overdue. 🌺🌈💜
Those barricades are a work of art! They should put them in a museum with all the artifacts of this eruption.
I LOVE Ron Swanson! LOL!!
A good day for residents of Leilani Estates!!! Thank you for letting us witness this with you!
Wow, open roads. Great fun with big toys! Goodbye barrier graffiti, it was nice to meet you. Glad you've been immortalized on cool t shirts. Mahalo, Scott and Gabe
More history in the making, Scott. And you were there!
Yay.. Hi Scott. Hi Gabe. Super excited to see you there.. " Tear down that wall"
That's wonderful. About time. Bye bye barricade. Brilliant record of this. We have those barricades immortalized thanks to Robert Criss. Think I'll grab myself a tote bag or a scarf (maybe both) to celebrate their removal.

So glad to be able to watch this happen. Mahalo for sharing this historic happy occasion with all of us.
Also glad Gabe and you finally got to meet.
Lively morning! The birds at the beginning of the vid were just beautiful!
Hi Gabe! Hello and congrats to all the neighbors there to see the barricades come down! They're part of indelible memories for you all of a time of upheaval. We virtual viewers joyfully join with you bidding them goodbye! 👋
What a satisfying video to watch. I am so happy for all the residents of Leilani Estates who get to move home now. Oh Happy Day!

Melena Schneider yes quite the adventure
I love that you were there showing us! Hey Gabe! Good to see you. I hope they leave the artwork on the barricade pieces.
So glad you get up early and catch all the action! Yay! Great Day!
I cannot believe that I have watched this entire video! LOL I guess I'm one of Scott's Groupies!
Me too a Scott video junkie
Just got back from vacay and doing catch-up. You can bet I'm watching all of this. Been here since early May and seeing the barricades pulled out is so wonderful. Whoopee!
The art on those barricades was totally awesome! Whoever did them has talent.
It was great seeing and hearing everyone witnessing the removal of the barricades. What an absolutely beautiful morning.
I wasn't sure what I was expecting after the intro when cut to the side. WooHoo! I hope they plan on keeping the painted barricades. They are a part of Hawaii’s heritage, now.
So pleased for you all. Hopefully things will slowly get back to ‘normal’ on your beautiful island.
So glad to see the open g of the roads. Thank you for all the many many hours you have spend, the honest reporting and the true feelings you put out here with each post. Mahalo and Aloha!
That was so exciting for me to watch. I can imagine how much more excited everyone there was. Glad they didn't chase you away
I hope they are keeping the painted barricades as a memorial, and a protection!
Awesome sauce!!! Glad to see life is getting somewhat back to some kind of normal. People can access their property and start making plans to rebuild their lives. Prayers for them all. My tears are flowing freely... I have tears of joy for new beginnings .....I also have tears of sorrow for those who lost so much...
mountain maid, we will see you online later, then!
You have a reporters qualities...right in the thick of things... :-) Love it!
Wonderful to be able to watch this happen. In a strange way it’s kind of sad to see those barriers go knowing we will never see them again
You are one cool customer Scott! Thanks for showing the art on the other side of the barriers, the lava with a face is great as well as the other images we can see in your video. Thank-you so much!

YAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!! ... ** waves arms like Kermit and runs in circles!** :D
A great day Scott, too bad they didn't put up a maile lei and have it untied as an official opening, with a blessing.
Might feel like back to normal. Prayers go out to all who lost homes.
Ok..I applauded. And laughed. Hi Gabe!
It must be so good to see them open the roads up again

Karen Polehn, thanks for the information. It's very interesting and makes so much sense once you explain it.
Thanks for the details! I've seen similar equipment on unpaved ground but never had the opportunity to observe one in action.

G. Nash Google Scott Wiggers
KIRALYW I was stalking 😉
Scott has shown us a lot of things but his face ain't one of 'em, lol! 😄

"This should have been done a month ago". Amen.
That was fun Scott. Thanks!
Woohoo!!! A great day indeed! Congratulations! I see you didn't get harassed but Gabe did! Interesting.
My camera was down by my side.
Thanks so much for the update. Great to see Gabe in your video.
(Cooled Molten) ROCK ON!!! 🤘🤘🤘
🌋🌋🌋🌋🌞🌞🌞🌞🇦🇺🎶🤘🌏
Great video. Congratulations
Bye, bye, barricades. I am glad we have souvenirs of your visit on the RedBubble site, but honestly, we were beginning to think you were the guests who would not leave! LOL
And now that they are gone...it is a shame no one painted one of the blank sides with "Leilani Strong" !
Yeah so sad
Another video😀feeling spoilt, thank you. So pleased for you all. 😲Gabe...😲 Scott lol just need Peter and Charles...then all my Hawaii channels are there lolz Gosh I hope they keep Robert's amazing art on concrete barriers?
So wonderful to see this Scott! Happy for you all!
Momentous moment surreal and finally yea !!!! Hi to Gabe 🔥 First you met ? Cool ❤ Great video
Hey that’s Gabe ! Hi Gabe 😃🤟🏼
If I were to guess, were these concrete barriers at Leilani Ave. supposed to be used for community murals from the estate? Wonder where they'll go.
My thoughts exactly. They've acquired their place in Big Island history.

Congrats Leilani!❤️
Gabe is just cool 😎
So happy for you all!
So happy for everyone!
Just the start of getting back to normality. So pleased for you all.
Emotional ! Thank you 👍💜
I honestly think this is the first video where we didn't hear the infamous "Aloha"
Yeah, a tad hectic.
I’m so happy for you all ! Making progress towards normality 😊👍🏼This event still goes on and you have to keep following it Scott so we can see how people are doing , not to be voyueristic but because we care ❤️. I hope the are going to keep the barriers with the artwork & display somewhere too
Woohoo so happy for you all that that stupid barrier has at last gone yayyy bet you cant wait to take us all for a walk :) xx
This is so amazing and fantastic to see the first signs of life coming back to your neighborhood with them removing barricades and working on infrastructure! Have you seen Gabe make his sea shell necklaces , awesome Scott
So happy for the people going back to their home.
History in the making!!!
😀😀
Wow I'm sure that it's great joy for you all and probably abit of sadness for the residents. Onwards and upwards to all of you. Kia kaha. Which means stay strong in Maori.
Do you have any idea what the plans are to clean up the dead vegetation?
There is no plan.
Thanks for editing. How long were you out there? Looks like morning and afternoon. Good thing no tours scheduled today.
Happy day for Leilani estates. But sad for those who lost everything.
Exciting day! One you have been hoping for!
Things are definitely on the up plus a Blue Dome Day to add the icing on the cake. Enjoy yourself celebrating this Red Letter Day Scott with all the Leilani Residents.
How many residents are still on the estate Scott please
Ah beautiful sunny day and the barrackades are going fantastic stay safe
SO good to see the beginning of normalcy returning, at least as far as possible.
good to see, now those affected by the eruption events will at last be able to see for them selves if anything is still standing.
Welcome home, Leilani.
