Thank you, Stacy for showing us your property and the canyon. The video was incredible!! Thank you Scott for introducing us to Stacy. You are both amazing people. That looks like our tree! Hi Charles. I'm in awe.

In the face of extraordinary circumstances the resilience , bravery and resourcefulness of some people never fails to amaze and inspire me. Ask many young people who their heroes are and they will reel off the names of reality tv "stars" and pop singers, when the real role models could be found closer to home in their own communities. Thank you Stacey , and thank you Scott. Incredible filming. Blessings from the UK.

One of the most extraordinary sights of this whole thing. That and Stacey's good-humoured resilience. Thanks for sharing, guys. Enough people like the three of you and Leilani will prosper as a neighbourhood and a community :-)

Oh my, so Stacey just lost both her homes! Bad enough to lose one, but two. My condolences. Also, thank you Stacey for sharing your circumstances with Scott and all of us. And for those super little vids on your phone. I hope you have copies. They're one in a million.

Did she say Napa? OMG!!! And then this? WOW!! I'm so sorry! I'm in Sonoma County and was just a couple of miles away north of where the fire came over the ridges. I'm in Windsor and all my neighbors and I were on high alert, but luckily didn't have to leave. I just hunkered down and stayed inside out of the smoke. But she went through those fires and then the volcano eruption. If you see her, tell her I'm thinking of her and wishing her the very best. She is a survivor and will pull through all this. Thanks for this video, Scott! This brings it even closer to home.

Wow this was just amazing and sad at the same time. Mahalo Scott and Stacey for sharing your loss. Stacey I live south of Napa in Morgan Hill and I am so sorry you lost your ranch as well. These fires have been devastating and the loss of so many homes and for you to lose both must be so difficult but you outwardly appear to be holding up.
Thoughts and Prayers are with you and so many others. Aloha!

When Stacy said lava added six feet, it looked like there was not more than six feet there. Then she said you were looking at 100 feet, wow. A lava waterfall, just when I thought I’d seen it all. So sorry Stacy you lost not one but two beautiful places. I hope her Leilani place will revegetate and be habitable. Thank you three for sharing the experience. Ahhhhhmazing!

Hi Scott! WOW!! That cavern or hole or canyon is shocking to see!! Look how deep it is! Unbelievable! And, is that our lone tree? It's right next to her house! WOW!! Awesome! That sure looks like it! So cool! I'm sorry, I get so focused on that tree! I should be focused on this amazing deep gulch in her backyard! At least, her tiny House is still there, in bad shape, but still there! Amazing how close she was to #8! All that tephra, too! So deep! This all is just amazing. Stacey seems like a nice woman. So sad this all came through so close to her house. Will she stay there, you think? I hope she had insurance. I hope all these residents had insurance. Tell her thank you for letting you over there and filming all of this for us to see and especially for history sakes. Just amazing! Thanks also, Scott, for focusing for awhile on the lone tree. I think you knew that was the lone tree. Lol Has to be! Thanks so much, Scott! This was incredible to see! Simply amazing! Well, that was exciting. You take care and I hope you had a great rest of your Saturday. Til soon! ~ Barb :-) ♡

Holy Cow ! That is amazing ! Thank the lady for allowing you to video her place. The shear power and volume of the lava and tephra that has covered the landscape around the place is almost demonic .I can see now, just how hard people are doing it right now. Thanks for sharing this Scott. It is gonna be a long hard slog to get back to some thing resembling " normal" for a lot of the residents in and around this lava field.

What she is showing you is what we called The Grand Canyon when I lived in Leilani in 2013-14. I called you in May to try and get you to go look for the canyon. Amazing to see the footage she shot when the flow was going off. Glad you found the canyon. It is much smaller and more shallow now than what it used to be.

Scott, thank Stacy for sharing a tour of her home and letting us see what people living there are facing. Have to say it makes me wonder about the house supports underneath on the piers and also all the nails used in construction. Thoughts then go to the wiring. Did the plastic coating on the wiring protect the wires inside from the gas effects, in which case the ends can just be re-cut and re-stripped and not a total rewiring job? Please wish her all the best moving forward and back to some kind of normal live there.

When involved with stainless steel in the early 1980's the best stuff resisting acid corrosion is none magnetic, so if a magnet sticks to it, it will rot.
If a magnet does not stick to stainless steel it will resist acid corrosion.
Love to you all, great footage.

    • @grappolidipalma
      @grappolidipalma 6 ปีที่แล้ว

True... But when sulfur get involved in the equation, the story change; there is plenty of articles online about "sulfur and stainless steel" (pitting corrosion type).
...And i bet there is plenty of "sulfur aerosol" there (so sad).

Replacements are not in danger, because when it is getting so deep ph (concentration of acid) the body will not survive. But acid is dangerous to skin and lungs . I am sure, that no human being could have survived in this area without a complete protection suit for body and respirator. Coins are made of silver and gold. SO2 gas can't destroy them. After a polish they will shine again. Greetings from Germany

Can you link us to her Facebook to see the video first hand? Or maybe she can forward it to you? To post.

Just look up Stacey Welsh. She said her name in the video. Scott doesn't have FaceBook

I'd love to see them too. Someone with facebook would have to post the link to the videos for non-fb people to see. You just can't look up their account unless they are sharing with the public.

Go to Google and Type in Stacy Welsh Hawaii It will show her page and (Y Cats) from Pearl Harbor. You may have to have a FaceBook to see it. Her videos are shared with the public. It takes 2 minutes to set up a page and you don't ever have to use it and can delete at anytime.

I found Stacy Welch's (correct spelling) fb page, however she has not made the photos or videos public. Like many I have no interest in getting a fb account, bad enough they collect info on and track us even if when we don't have one and just visit a fb page to see what people on fb want to share.

Well seems Kilauea is done for now until next year. Those vents sure are still steaming pretty good almost a month later though..
