HOW TO BREAK IN A BASEBALL GLOVE IN 1 DAY

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 31 ต.ค. 2019
  • Here we go over the process to break in this Rawlings outfield glove in 1 day. Please hit me with any question below. We have spent countless hours mastering this process. I know how frustrating it is to be very excited about a new glove and then it goes wrong or its not to your liking. We have over 40 years of baseball combined on all levels and know a thing or 2 about this sport. Its important to understand that every glove type has to be shaped according to the position especially the older the player the more important this is.I encourage all of you to please subscribe to the channel and send me your feed back please.

    Great video. I'm a life long Rawlings glove fanatic. It's the only glove I've ever played with and I'll be 53 in September. I just bought a new outfielder glove (that's what I played when I was a kid) and a dozen good leather balls with the raised stitching to play catch with my trainer. Thanks for the great content coach!

    great advice about the hinge...that is usually the stiffest part of the glove and many people aren't strong enough to flex it just by catching balls....I also like to use a heavy ball to form the webbing in the pocket, to really get a deep spot for the ball...with the hinge broken in and the heavy ball to stretch the pocket to the shape of a ball, it is game ready in lightning speed.. the glove just closes right around the ball as soon as it hits the glove after these type methods...thanks guys

    I see a lot of comments about people asking about in fielders gloves, If your kid is gonna play infield I would invest in a small glove that way the ball doesn't get lost in that pocket while turning a DP, the big glove like coach was showing you on this video is an outfielders glove. I used to play middle infield and I would use 11 or 11.5" glove. Rawlings is a very good glove I like Wilson like the A2000 is a great and expensive glove but like coach said it's an investment I also own a nice Rawlings Gold glove both are great! Great video coach thank you very much!👍

    good tip for outfielders, if you are 12 or younger i recommend getting a 12.50 inch glove, if you are 13-17 look at 12.75 inches, and 18+ look at whatever is comfortable. if you have small hands, look at 12.50 inches, and if you havent committed fully to the outfield, get a 12.25 or 12.5 and shape the glove so you can use it in the infield whilst still having the deeper pocket of an outfield glove

    Great video. Saw a similar method (except he did not turn glove inside out) from a guy named Aso on Wilson's website. I use a 5 lb dumbell instead of the wooden mallet and it works well (the weight on each end of the dumbell has a nice rubberized coating). Just an excellent way of quickly breaking in a glove without weighing it down with oils.

    Coach HP, This video should get a bunch of views this spring! Good points about gloves being position specific, and the hinges and pocket need to be worked in before playing catch. I think you are misleading some parents with your take on buying a pro quality glove. Glove manufacturers are now making quality gloves that are designed to fit a youth hand. For instances Rawlings makes the R9 series of gloves. These gloves are made of real leather, are tighter on the wrist and fingers, and cost half of what a HoH does. For me, the R9 is the way to go if you are looking for a quality glove for a player in the 7 to 11 year old range. This way the average family can still afford a quality main glove and secondary position glove such as 1B, catcher, or OF. I just found this channel, excited to see some more good content!

      u mean the $499 mocha with 'gold glove' and all other markings in gold, hand sewn welt, etc? I doubt you mean gold glove or gold glove elite. or do you mean the gold glove opticore, the predecessor to the mocha gold glove. also expensive, also very stiff even tho part of the marketing was hardly any heel pad to make break in easier. I bought a 12.75 years ago and still haven't broken it in. havent even played catch. it's too nice. im not a collector in that ill buy a glove with the intention to not use it but the rgg series is on a whole other planet when it comes to quality

    Awesome channel & fantastic video. Loved the video on breaking in a catcher's mitt too. I also break in gloves for the kids on the team that I coach. I do it pretty much the same way....except for drying out in the car, which is a tremendous idea. I also finish with a little glove cream, just to keep the leather moist...especially after drying it out....so it doesn't start cracking, like any skin would. When do you use leather cream, if at all? I also use saddle soap to clean my gloves when they get very dirty. How about you? Thanks again for the great videos!

      @@CoachHP Thanks for your reply coach. Do you guys ever use glove cream, or oil to keep the leather soft and to stop it from cracking? I usually put a small amount on before putting it to bed in the fall.

    • @CoachHP
      @CoachHP  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LouBalestriere The one thing I would avoid is adding too many oils or conditioners on it. What I like to do after a dirty game or even just every once in awhile is take a damp cloth and remove all excess dirt and clay from it. If possible, also always try and keep in room temperature and not in a garage or trunk of a car.
      Keeping the shape is also crucial. Try to always remove glove from bag and leave palm down inside your room or locker.

    If anyone sees this don’t do the inside out method ruins the glove second when I get gloves I do what he did the hot water treatment once you do that get a mallet and hit the pocket with your hand in the glove so it molds how you would want your pocket to be next after your done with that this is the hard part you have to play catch with the glove to get it broken in if you want to get a flare on your glove form it your self and the way you want it watch a TH-cam tutorial on it don’t smash your glove with a mallet it will make the glove fall apart do the hot water treatment ever other day and when you get bored or you just want to chill out and watch a game or something use the mallet and just hit the pocket with the glove it takes me about 3 weeks to break in a new glove.
