  • Apologies for the poor camera I used, but I just had to get it out there and pay it forward.
    The plastic grommets that will probably break are part number OEM 13336985, I believe.
    That is what some clever clogs added to one of the comments below.

    Many thanks for the video. Mine has been doing this for a while, on both sides and this video will help me fix it myself. I tried popping the plastic grommets out and I have already snapped one into pieces. Can anyone who has carried out this procedure suggest a good and easy way to do it without damaging them? Also, anyone know where to find a replacement for the damaged ones? Thanks

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll answer myself. Rather than using a flat head screw driver to pop them out (which will eventually break them ) a better approach is to use a shoe lace or similar. Simply lift part of the round plastic tab with a flat head screw driver or similar, push the shoe lace under and around the round plastic tab and then push a little bit. The plastic grommet should come out right off. Mind this only worked for the 3 smaller plastic grommets. The bigger ones on each of the sides needed breaking into (actually the shoe lace will also break them). My leak is finally fixed, though I simply cleaned the top surface thoroughly and sealed over the plastic covers with hot glue around and over. Now time to find some replacement grommets to finish the job!

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adbarretttth Those are likely to work but at least are not the same design as the ones I removed. A couple of pictures of those which survived (the small ones, not the big ones on the side) are here to compare: drive.google.com/open?id=1ljCQUB-XeaZrsv4e0EawiY1bF459IT6w

    My Insignia boot is leaking. I found water in the spare wheel compartment and traced it back to water coming out of a hole in the rear of the boot behind the passenger side tail light. However the water only leaks out of this hole when the car makes a right turn!
    There's no leaks at all when it rains or the car is jet washed, but a lot of water pours out of this manufactured hole when the car turns right which we eventually confirmed by my mate sitting in the boot while I drove the car!
    Any idea how and why I have this leak?

    • @vyrgozunqk
      @vyrgozunqk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, have you find out what this hole is for and how to fix it ? Do you have any pics ? I've started finding small amounts of water in mine too, but can't really find when it is coming in. Jet washing doesn't seem to get water inside, so it might be something similar.

      @billalhossain3134 yeah it was the grommets. They have these exact same grommets on the astra j 2010 - 2014 I think. The wheel well fills with water, when you drive the water sloshes around an goes behind the back of seats behind the fabric and then travels to the foot well.
      Bought bathroom silicone sealant, put it around these grommets and it has stopped the leak.
