    WOW! My gdad & dad are looking down from the pearly gates in amazement after what they both put that sharp & shiny through, & the sheath, you have way over done yourself my friend. Thank you again George. You have become really special to me. You have changed my life from setting around to buying knives & learning to whittle. The lovely Mrs. Godby also thanks you for getting me off the couch & back in the outdoors. If you ever get to SW Colorado, you better give me a call. Lots of folks stop through Pagosa on there way to & from Cali to set in the world’s deepest hot springs. Again my friend, you & I will be in touch with more sharp & shiny’s. And thanks for the advice on the Opinel #9, got a carbon steel coming my way. Have a great 4th & stay safe. Take care of yourself as well & thanks again George.

    Great job on the restoration, George! The Dremel and accessories are great to have. I have a couple of Old Timer's that were made here in the U.S. One of them, I think is just like the one you worked on. It needs some TLC. Mine is still factory, no mods. 👍🏻👍🏻

    Hope Billy feels better soon. Nice clean up on the knife! I find I’m using masking tape more and more often on the blades while working on them, worth it to take the extra time when transforming dull and rustys to sharp and shinys!

    The original owner probably used a file to “sharpen” the blade and as a result removed steel over time, not a good choice, but all you can do is use your work sharp and sharpen it , it’s an old worn knife you cannot change it but make the most of what you have to work with, you did good George

    • @2ndchancegeorge
      @2ndchancegeorge  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep. I really did not want to take more off. It would have landed up shortening the big blade. Hope Billy is happy. Be safe this 4th.

  • @jaysonwilson7882
    @jaysonwilson7882 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nice job. How about an opinel with a horn handle from an antler with file work on the spine of the blade in the shape of choice or a twin blade whittler main blade could be the normal 9 and a 8 modded to a wharncliffe.

    • @2ndchancegeorge

    The reason your having a hard time sharpening is because your sharpening at 17 degrees then you use the ceramic rod angle guides that are either 25 or 20 degrees! Freehand using ceramic rod you should be better
