    Just a technical tip. The saw needs to be narrower behind the teeth to prevent binding in the cut. This is called set in a saw. Victorinox emulate set by grinding the blade to taper slightly from teeth to spine.

    • @FittoSurvive
      @FittoSurvive  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible to add the saw. You will need a donor knife, longer brass pins (you will have to make them), and you will need an extra liner.
      Unless you are looking for a project or new hobby, the easiest method would be to buy a Victorinox Huntsman. It is on sale now for $31:

    I'm not going to say that it may not be easier for you, but I'd like you to consider what I say about the sharpening process. When flipping the blade the burr will fold the same way each time and it could make the sharpening process longer, additionally when the blade faces up, you can end up removing more abrasive than necessary. Just some thoughts for you.

Now I look like a hoarder but I don’t mind, she just rather toss out anvils, vises, and any tool you can imagine pre-1980 so she can fill it with her TjMaxx TRASH. Anyway, I’ve been staring at 15 various brands of multi tools similar to Swiss Army and folding knives in small/medium sizes wishing I could just rearrange them in a way that’ll suit my needs. Interesting project but I would have still used steel as the layers to brace the tools, using the G10 only as the outer case and keyed the surface inside for better epoxy adhesion, G10 is resilient but I would only use it for scale liners or maybe a thick spacer rather than the actual structure to a functional tool, the best part was sneaking the spydie blade on

    • @FittoSurvive
      @FittoSurvive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The original liners are aluminum, which is not that much more rigid than the G10. But I completely understand what you are talking about.

    Your grinding will go much smoother if the wheel is centered and balanced on the shaft. If you have a lathe, make a proper flanged arbor with a bored center-hole and tight-fitting register. Once you've done that, you'll be able to dress that CBN wheel properly, truing it up and getting rid of that glazed surface.

    • @FittoSurvive

      @elonquemattheson6151 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FittoSurvive As long as there's not any unusual geometry, I can send you an arbor if you take some calipers or micrometers and measure the diameter of the shaft, diameter of the hole in the grinding wheel, thickness of the grinding wheel at the shaft, and approximate length of the unthreaded portion of the shaft.
      It'll look like what Shop and Math made in his video titled "arbor for diamond wheel".
      If that's a diamond wheel (not CBN), I'd recommend using a Norton white wheel instead if you're using it for grinding any type of steel, since diamond dissolves into steel at high temperatures.

    • @FittoSurvive

      The main reason for the G10 liners is just design. They weight about the same as the original aluminum liners. These G10 liners are about 0.1 mm wider than the original liners. So they add a bit more bulk.
