It says a lot that it's a genuine shock they have gone with a straight, white male actor. Thank god.
I like the idea of a BOND set in the 60's (that would take care of all the "non-pc" baggage of the Ian Fleming novels), but also how BOND starts at MI-6. His backstory (maybe do a sequence in WW2) and his first missions.
That would be better as an TV show to then prepare for the new trilogy or whatever

Connery was a 52 year old playing a 52 year old in NSNA
Connery was hired by an outside producer after he was too old for the regular series.
He was never told to old. Too expensive. too burned out.
Oh for fucks sake , there’s plenty of info about the making of NSNA, Connery quit and hated the original producers and got a huge pay deal to return as a co producer, as he would say if he was with us , get your facts right

3:48 seconds into this vlog you see Aaron Taylor - Johnson walk down the train gun up in the air with a semi menacing look. I saw that clip two days earlier and that look sold it for me………. The look, the swagger just what I’d want to see in a Bond character! I hope he gets the gig, it’d be good to get a fresh new side to the latest Bond.

The news yesterday said that Aaron has turned down the role of Bond, Cavil should be the next Bond IMO.
If that’s true I would not be opposed to Cavill as bond whatsoever.
I sincerely hope he turned it down. Or, will turn it down. A Bond has too many close-ups of Bond that fills the screen, maybe an IMAX screen. This actor will have the audience laughing at him.
Cavill is way too cheesy.
They should just give the Bond role to Cavill already. He was born to play Bond, and probably cast Aaron as Bond’s brother & sidekick in my opinion

Martian Cambell will be asked to return as he is the new actor director for directing bond movies. If you look back on Goldeneye it was the first of the Brosnan error which is the best and most phisical movie with Brosnan, yet if you look at Casino Royal it is the best phisical Craig movie and the first in Craig error. While I would disagree to it as the best bond in comparison to Skyfall some would disagree and say it is just as good or better. So I definitely think Martin Campbell will direct as there have been talks about him being the director who helps fit the right actor into the toxcido.

I suppose like every franchise that wants to reinvent itself for a new generation of movie goers, he's a decent choice. Sadly, I suspect that will include an ultra violent John Wick approach couched in auteurism.

If I were Barbara Broccoli/Michael Wilson, I would choose DAN STEVENS. He's convincing as a genuine gentleman (Downton Abbey) and has mysterious charisma (The GUEST).

Please stop with the Idris Elba! James Bond is NOT black--PERIOD! However, I do think, and I know that you would agree, that Idris Elba would make a great Charlie Chan, the Chinese detective. I think Idris was born to play Charlie Chan! He's the right age for the role, and I KNOW that the Chinese people would LOVE him, and embrace him as their own, and would rush out to theaters by the millions to support him!

If I had my way either Idris Elba or Henry Cavill. Both have the looks and the style. I loved Idris from the days of The Wire. Stringer Bell had some swag and cockiness that could be transferred to James Bond persona. During the Mission Impossible movie that Cavill was on, he showed he can play a cocky, arrogant character too.
Yeah I agree with the point about Cavill, he's proven himself for the role. Idris is great in the wire too.
Idris is to old as the producers have said they want an actor who will be Bond for the next10-20 years by which time he will be 71. They are looking for a actor in his early to mid 30's
Idris Elba would be 55 before any film was released.

Insiders have denied reports that Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been cast as the new James Bond.
The Sun reported that the British actor had been 'formally offered the opportunity to play James Bond', putting an end to months of speculation regarding Daniel Craig's successor.
But the BBC has now put an end to speculation, with a production insider revealing that there is 'no truth in the rumours'.
In another interview with Rolling Stone, when Aaron was directly asked about the Bond rumours, he replied, "I can only really talk about the things I'm going to show and tell... I don't feel like I need to have a future drawn out for me. I feel like, whatever's drawn out for me, I can f**kin' do better."

Good choice IMHO, but in case you missed it, in the last "Bond" movie, didn't James Bond die??? For me personally, James Bond died after 'Skyfall'!!! 'Spectre' was ok, but after ALL "the woke BS" that was pushed into the last one, I'm sure Ian Fleming rolled over quite a few times....SHAME!!!

Commander Bond RN - I think Bond should be a codename and this one should be the selection of an SBS operative into espionage - not far from Kingsman - taking a Bootneck Captain & transforming into the suave spy. They could even rejig some of Lewis Collins' Who Dares Wins plot as a vehicle for transition from SF operative to SIS operative

Henry Cavill would be a terrible Bond. He's a lousy actor. Idris Elba would be even worse. Too old, too black, too lacking in charisma. ATJ would be a good Bond IMHO. He has the look and the menace of Bond. To be honest though I don't see any more Bond films being made. Daniel Craig ended it for good.
