How about this movie plot: you have aaron and henry both spies just starting out in the business, both very crafty and suave, but both still.wih different names, then they on a mission, you don't know whether which one is good or not but they do it anyway..at the end of the movie,.only one of them.survives and eventually becomes James Bond.

I don't think you need to put down one person just to prop the other. Cavill is easily better because he fits the character in a lot of ways and he is a real fan who understands what makes Bond work. To make it overly serious, will push some audience away. My wife refused to watch Craig as James Bond outside Casino Royale, even then she said Craig is not her choice as James Bond.
