    How do you turn on accessibility keyboard without logging in? The video is about how to login in when the keyboard doesn't work. So the method shown here is totally useless. Is the Mac not able to show keyboard at the login screen?

    • @macmost
      @macmost 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Right, you have to set this up beforehand. If you are stuck in a situation where your keyboard isn't working unexpectedly, then what you do depends on the situation. Is it just that your wireless keyboard's battery is dead? Plug it into your Mac then and you can use it as a wired keyboard while it charges.

      @@macmost Thank you for showing that Accessibility Keyboard, at sign-in screen. I have the M1 Mac Mini for 5 months and had monitor not waking up, everyday, until the last update Big Sur 11.3.1. When the monitor is out, then you cannot type anything, The real ugly thing, the monitor is up but the keyboard(s) is not working, 5 times in 5 months! Re-starting a dozen times, then, suddenly the $5 Inland mini keypad works! Van

    So the solutions for how to login to you Mac if your keyboard is broken are
    1) get another keyboard
    2) go back on time.

    100%. You got it. Helpful video! Also, I discovered while trying to set up an iMac for the first time that you can turn on that virtual keyboard on screen if the iMac won't yet acknowledge your wireless keyboard. With a USB mouse, you can click on each letter/number in the virtual keyboard and get through the setup and then update bluetooth settings to see your wireless keyboard and trackpad. So you don't have to run out and buy another keyboard! This feature is in the Accessibility settings very early in the setup menu. Click on "MOTOR" and a keyboard will open on screen, so if you at least have a USB mouse, you can get through setup.

    Sticky keys at login is/was a lifesaver!!!! The additional thing was that I setup a user account with no password on my older Mac! I logged into the guest account with just the mouse and screen shared with my new Mac using sticky keys to get in. The keyboard viewer.doesn't do caps, but sticky keys does. I was stressing out that I wouldn't be able to get into my newer Mac 2017. It's just one key on my bluetooth keyboard! I agree, this should be standard like on a pc. I wondered why not for many years!!! As per your instruction I set it up at login. No need to screen share to get in. Now off to troubleshooting that key that doesn't work. Thank so much!!!

If my mac had restarted or turned off and then back on the keyboard feature is not there. Also the screen mirroring featuring I had enabled but it didn't work from restart. We had lightening strike modem/router and it fried. Have new one, but the all in one Mac desk top computer (2011) has a frozen cursor. I can't log in. I Have a wireless keyboard and mouse and it's not automatically recognizing new wifi--router/modem. I've tried a wired mouse and keyboard, but it still won't move cursor so I can log in. I don't think the computer was damaged as it starts up, I think the wireless/Bluetooth mouse and keyboard are not connecting to new WiFi. So I can't get to menus at all. Mysteriously the printer came back to life and recognized new WiFi.
