Some of you are saying you would be friends with these people. You wish you could’ve known these people. There’s people around today with mental illness, who are lonely and friendless, seek them out and be kind and friendly to them. Practice what you preach.

Thanks a lot for this posting. I have been looking for this documentary for ages. My sister and Mitch were patients together at the Clarke Institute. She, my mother and other family members who met him said he was a wonderful person: creative, intelligent, kind and empathetic to others' suffering. They were heart-broken to hear of his passing. It is unimaginable what schizophrenics go through, and few know the turmoil and sorrow of their families as they helplessly watch their loved one slip further and further away. Thanks to all for sharing. The courage of everyone here is remarkable and unforgettable.

Sorry to be late replying. I was told by my mother that he committed suicide at age 25 in 1983. Anyone thinking of this must know that there is emotional support available, suicide prevention lines, also new medications are being developed all the time. I'm sooo sorry for you,my mom went through a lot of the same, they said at the hospital that nothing was wrong even though to everyone else it was clear, then he would get arrested for nothing, they'd keep him for a few months and the cycle would start again, he had enough, medication didn't work for him at 27 he took his own life..my little brother..that was 2004 and it doesn't seem like the medical field has made any advancements and community and facilities haven't been able to adjust to these patients.its heartbreaking for family, friends and most of all,the person with the illness...God Bless You All❣️

There is nothing worse, I expect, than losing a child as it seems to violate the order of life. I'm 60 and have been struggling with illness since the mid 80s. To some extent, I live a functional life, having taught at a number of colleges and universities. Sadly, the nature of our illness often prevents us from having anything more than modest success. Dealing with the illness, along with medication side effects seems to drain my energy, thus reducing the stamina one needs to be an inspiring teacher and successful researcher. I take 32 mg/ day of trilafon which keeps symptoms at bay. You have my deepest sympathy and respect. It's hard to imagine the pain that you have to deal with each day. I hope that healing continues and that you find some joy.
      All The Best, Ron

Hi! My eldest brother was a PS. Our dad a prominent doctor but he never acknowledged my brother’s illness maybe because it was his first son, so we, the sisters, were some kind of his victims. He’d play fearful games with us hiding us in dark closets for hours, punishing in our knees with a peeled banana in our mouths and if the banana dropped the punishing worsened. We had no mom since I was five, so nobody would protect us. The maids were afraid of him bur one day we were grown women and began trying to impede his conduct. It worked only because we would ran to the next house. Then came the accusations that one of us were spying on him, and he was relentless. Yes, he was scrupulously clean with his body but he was also a hoarder. He was also very handsome and cult. Suddenly things got better and he would smile and play cards with us. He always lived in the most dirty and poor neighborhoods having the chance to live in a high medium environment. At the end of his sad and anguished left I took care of him, always afraid that he’d kill me. His scarce feeding consisted in one onion, two carrots and a bunch of parsley made him look like a skeleton. He was never happy with anything. I believe his feeling were trapped who knows where. When our first sister died he looked astonished, only for 30 seconds, then he continued with his life. I need to say that he was an extreme control freak and that he lived in a bathroom out of his rented apartment because of his hoarding that included bottles of urine. He died pitifully cause it took him two years to close those eyes forever. He’d not take his medication. He did what he wanted, always. Those last days were the more stressful of my life. The rest of our siblings preferred to believe that he was just a lazy guy. When he finally died I cry uncontrollably. I loved him but I thanked God for taking him. I need to say I’m an attorney and my career almost went overboard because he wouldn’t let anyone serve him. He died at 71. Life was extremely hard not only for him, obviously, but he was a decent and honest guy. I would have liked to hug him but he wouldn’t let anyone touch him. I feel relieved of having written this. Excuse my English, it’s not my first language. The Universe or God, has some un understandable and intriguing mysteries. Thanks for reading. Sandra from Mexico.

My brother was schizophrenic, RIP, and he lived with me for 2 years until I became so depressed from his 2 attempts at suicide that I became physically and emotionally ill because I couldn't help him. I would try to talk to him and at the same time his lips would be moving, talking to the voices in his head. It's been 21 years since he passed and I still cry for the life he wanted so desperately but had always passed over him... I don't think he ever knew what happiness was as an adult.

I was with my partner and father of our 3 children for 16 years. His schizophrenia seemed to get worse and worse. The breaking point was when a nurse practitioner gave him stimulant ADHD meds. He was already cycling and in the midst of another episode! So one night he punched me extremely hard then proceeded to strangle me. He had NEVER tried to harm me until I was 10 sec away from the lights being shut out.
      We are no longer together.
It's too hard on the kids and he's shown 0 sign of improvement the extra 2yrs I had waited, hoped, tried to get him to go get his invega shot, the kids have a significant amount of trauma from this.
We are all in therapy, and I wish it wouldn't have ended like that but it did and we have to do the best with what we've got.
For the first decade he was a lovely man, funny, warm hearted, gentle, a fantastic involved father, great work ethic but those episodes would come about when he'd declare himself "cured" or nothings wrong with me, "its *them* they're messing with my head and yours" and he would stand in the kitchen and yell at these people in our walls, in the yard, texts had to be deciphered.Even a grocery list may have meant I was one of them.
He was verbally abusive before the violence started to be so often it felt like I was going to go crazy, too. And I suffer from mental health issues general & social anxiety, PTSD, and mild ADHD.
Some Days I miss the him I used to know, the dad the kids miss but are angry with for 'hurting mom'
And I allow them to feel what they feel because they have to work through this just as much as I
They are all in therapy, and although it's only been since Jan 2023 we're "ok" not great that's for sure but just taking little steps.
I don't wish him harm or anything like that I just want him to give his meds another good shot for longer than 6mo or so and live his life and not harm anyone else.
FYI most schizophrenics aren't violent. There are things that can make them more likely to lash out especially when agitated, very paranoid and delusional state.
That's when it's advisable to get them into a hospital. Sadly even if they threaten to k!ll you or unalive themselves the cops still wouldn't pink slip him! 🤦‍♀️ They could've stopped this.. but hindsight is always 20/20 so they say.

      Take care, friends.

I remember watching films in grade school and high school in the 70s and 80s that had the same warble sound to them. Most of the films were stored with the projectors in hallway closets. Heating in the winter was with boilers and radiators, and air conditioning was almost non-existent. Films took a beating.

One of my very best friends suffered Schizophrenia while in our 20's. These people are precious. Meds are a blessing. Using them indiscriminately or by themselves with no accompanying psychotherapy is a sin. Talking to him now, I harken back to his shoes talking to him, calls for assurance that 'They' are not watching from across the street from a parking lot while he charged his phone, the random visits to provide 'proof' for me to debunk, distracting religious epiphany. He was terrified. Now, he still hears voices(one of them mine, he admits😂) but he's happy and 'Normal'. Not tormented. It is a miracle.

Roughly 10% of the worlds population have a third eye/ear - they can see/ hear spirits. Listen, you are NOT crazy, your brain is NOT acting up, the SPIRITS you see/hear are REAL ! I've had this for 25 years now. At first I went to therapy sessions and medications just like you. But then the problem kept coming back - meaning the treatment addressed only the EFFECTS and not the CAUSE. So I researched this meticulously myself. BTW, I'm a Civil Engineer, worked in a government office for 11 years in the past. I have a very analytical mind. And I found the ROOT CAUSE - EVIL SPIRITS.
Once I knew the REAL reason, I was set FREE ! I even turned the tables on the evil spirits. I TORMENTED them with Worship Songs, Quoted Holy Scripture to them. Even called them names and insulted them. It drove them away. I've been meds free for the last 16 years now. The spirits no longer bother me, because I'm NO LONGER FUN to torment. The spirits prefer fearful & confused victims. Ironically Modern Psychiatric Medicine rejects the concept of Spirit Activity on patients They say your brain/body is just acting up etc. So you're basically ON YOUR OWN, finding the real cause/cure
Our physical and spirit worlds exists in parallel dimensions, separated by force fields. The spirits can see/hear us, we can't see/hear them NORMALLY. Anything that seriously WEAKENS our body, EMBITTERS our soul, and affects our FAITH in God, also WEAKENS our protective spiritual AURA and allows the evil spirits to communicate with us. Spirits communicate by MENTAL TELEPATHY - mind to mind - that's why ONLY you can see or hear them. That's why the spirits can READ YOUR MIND/THOUGHTS ! You can also secretly TALK/SHOUT to them by TELEPATHY - in the presence of other people. No one will notice and think you're CRAZY !
You can get schizophrenia from various reasons like a serious head injury, use of illegal drugs, practice of black magic, or traumatic events like rape, bullying, rejection, total isolation, death of a loved one or near-death experience. Like people, there are GOOD and BAD spirits. You can pick RANDOM evil spirits from morgue, cemeteries, hospitals, asylums, jails, dungeons, and abandoned houses and isolated forests. Places of Torment, Death and Isolation. Evil spirits are like BULLIES - they choose their victims well ! They can smell fear, bitterness and doubt - key soul weaknesses.

Spirits can also DISTORT human speech. For example if your friend says " Hello, What's Up ? " it will sound like " You're UGLY & STUPID ! " and so you'll get ANGRY. That's how spirits make you PARANOID & anti-social. The speech distortion happens only a few SECONDS ! The speakers face suddenly changes to an UGLY facial expression ! The Spirits TRUE FACE shows !! Then the face reverts back to normal and the speaker is NOT even aware of what happened. He'll wonder why you're angry at him ! Ive seen this many times !!
The evil spirits want to isolate you socially. You're their TOY ! Spirits can also SHAPE SHIFT - appear in ANY form (animal or people). They can IMITATE other peoples LOOKS/VOICES and pretend like real people. Spirits can also produce SOUNDS like knocking on doors, footsteps, crying or screaming people, scratching on walls, police sirens, barking dogs etc. Their plan is to ISOLATE you socially .. for themselves. Make people think you're CRAZY .. even if you re NOT. Resist them, Don't give up .. or you're really gonna end up crazy. Remember this, its NOT you but THEM (spirits) that's causing this. Fight them.
If the problem is spiritual, the solution is also spiritual ! Get close to GOD. I also found out listening to Worship Praise Songs (via earphones) helps block the voices, even drives them away ! BTW this is NOT a substitute for NOT taking your meds. Take them if you need them. Good luck, Stay Safe and God Bless.

00:30 I had to take this as normal. I am not apart of their world, I have to work on dealing with myself constantly. I am a full time job for myself without choice. It has to do with states of anxiety that take many forms. Medication is half hearted and an insult. We have nobody to speak for us, and have little help. It will be like this for always, because the world continues to get more and more shallow and get bothered by complications, their routine must not be disturbed like ours can't be. Are we the doomed or are they, the so called normal.

Thank you for sharing!!. I also started hearing the voices, along with the shadows. I started thinking about my life and memories brought me to the conclusion that I have always heard voices but never paid attention to where they was coming from. I am 31 and noticed the voices big time now. The voices ont feel fake, they even tell me it's nanotechnology and the people. For me it even feels that the whole world is in on this conspiracy that I like to believe schitsofrenia is made up. The voices tell me I'm targeted because I'm perverted and what not. My thoughts are read before I even noticed them. I search nanotechnology and it's a technology that can manipulate your mind and manipulate your feelings. Something positive I can leave you with is, find a way to love music, wear headphones! A good pair. Watch good movies that fill your heart up with happiness and tranquility. . Prepare yourself for one day your love of your life is no longer in your life. Save money for the rainy days. Love you !!

You speak the truth. And Jesus said what good is all that to then lose your soul.

Mitch should have pursued mathematics; mathematics saved me. I earned a PhD in mathematical physics and became a university professor.

Mathematics isn’t a cure or savior for this state of being(schizophrenia). The Voices can overtake and distract any amount of focus in math.
If you were diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Mathematics was your tool for coping thats wonderful. Sadly it’s not for everyone…

Yes, no! Yes! no. Yes, no, YES no! Yes? NO! yes, NO!
I have a challenge for you - Next time you find yourself on the horns of a dilemma, whether to quit your job, whether to move, whether to change your look, your friends, your relationship status, get a cat, a dog, both - Any significant and consequential choice will do. Be very mindful and self-aware of the discomfort it takes to put off the decision ans wrestle with it. Keep wrestling until you literally cannot logically choose between the two and just feel that ANY choice will be a good one to end the anguished state you find yourself in and finally you can resume life, your natural day to day functioning. NOW! Imagine that you find yourself in this state of Ambivalence over many ordinary mundane daily circumstances - will I go to the store or can it wait (Yes! Go now. No. You can make do. Go! Decide what you want when you get there. No, you haven't time! And you need a shower before you go. Do I? No! Yes you do! Have the shower now & see if you have time when you're done. Good idea. But surely you must have a shave if you are going to be cleanly. Oh, alright. Oh hurry, it will be too late! That's okay, if I end up not having the time to go I won't have to decide. But what if I do all the same things tomorrow? Yes! It's best you go today! You're right - okay then! Good job, good decision.
AND then you wonder, actually marvel, at how people can do so much in a day! How they can go to work all day, and STILL have time and energy for other choices, relationships, social interactions, responsibilities etc.
Remember how awful it was to experience that indecisive state before any decision and visualise ME rushing almost to breaking point and turning up at the store hair wringing wet, neat and tidy, but ALWAYS out of breath nervously stumbling around trying to recall what I'd decided to get but knowing I'd forgotten the main item. Finally, at home and asking myself did I do well. Yes you did it! No! Idiot, you forgot the [main item]! NO WINNER! Only One LOSER.
NOW REMEMBER!! this is on a good day! 😖🙄😔
Thank you for your patience ❤❤❤
