That crazy low note that Tim hits at the end is epic! But what I think is even more impressive is how long he held it, staying perfectly on pitch.

Their beatboxer, Adam Rupp, is phenomenal! There are several videos out of him doing a "drum solo" routine at their concerts. (I saw them live this past year, and he did a version of it there). He's world class.

Believe it or not, that last note Tim did really wasn't that deep for him. He hits some crazy lows! I call it his dragon voice, lol. I got to see them live this last summer, and they performed this song. On that last note, he drop it another octave (or two!) lower. It felt like an earthquake hit the building.
For more base-y goodness, check out Hillbilly Bone, Honey I'm Good, and Blue Ain't Your Color. Or for a really jaw-dropping experience, check out Tim's colab on Misty Mountain with Peter Hollens.

Apparently, as part-time Home Fry (Home Free fan), it's my turn to give you some very brief background about these guys.
So, as you correctly mentioned, they indeed won a season of The Sing. They were not completely new even then, but I think it helped give them recognition.
Adam Rupp is their wonderful beatboxer. Mr. Freak of Nature indeed does surprising things with his vocal cords, mouth, and throat. There are a few popular videos of him doing his drum solo sessions (and so much more) on Home Free concerts.
Chris Rupp (thin face, short beard, high forehead, big hat in this video), is Adam's brother. Chris was the original baritone of the group, you saw him here.
Later on, Chris left the group, and was replaced by Adam Chance in later years. Chance is a very flexible singer, baritone, but easily handles bass to higher notes as needed.
Tim Foust if the bass you spotted. He has an incredible range, from really nice headvoice-y high notes to shockingly seismic bass notes (such as the growl at the end of this song). Plus, Tim is a real fun guy, speaks the most during Home Free concerts.
Rob Lindquist (heavily bearded, glasses, little bigger guy) is a smooth and soulful tenor. At the higher end of the voice spectrum, Rob gives beatuiful flavor.
Austin Brown (younger looking, long haired guy) is the high tenor in Home Free. Austin might not be a Mitch, but he does have shocking tenor voice, very strong, vivid, You will learn to love him (such as in When a Man Loves a Woman).
The group is wonderful, has tons of great songs. Differentl vibe from PTX, maybe less popish. Originally advertised as a country a capella group, in reality they have diverged a lot from that, only a small fraction of their songs are definitely in the country genre (but Man of Constant Sorrow is one prime example). They have all kind of songs, from the very light hearted, fun ones (such as Champagne Taste [On a Beer Budget] they have just recommended you in the end, or All About That Bass), to more serious songs (like Brothers in Arms) and everything in between. Have fun with them!
And I also recommend the third must-experience a capella group of history, Voiceplay, for additional varied experience. :)

Long time Home Fry here 🙃 For a bit of the fun side of Home Free, you'll def want to check out Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, The Butts Remix, All About that Bass, and Country Fried Pop Medley. For their more serious songs - Brothers in Arms, Man of Constant Sorrow, Don't Laugh at Me, and One Man Band. Other really good ones are Hillbilly Bone, Sea Shanty Medley, and Fishin' in the Dark/Boondocks Mashup. Make it through all that and you too will be a Home Fry. 😆

Hi! I'm from OK and had never heard of Home Free until about 3 weeks ago.
I ran across Pentatonix first, and listened to 2 of their songs and wasn't interested in doing more.
About 2 weeks later I accidentally ran across Home Free doing, "A Man of Constant Sorrow". I am listening to everyone of their songs I can find, and some of them over and over!!! They are a truly amazing group.
I'm in love with Tim and his voice, as are 1/2 the women on the planet, and the ones who aren't, simply haven't heard him sing yet! 😉
Through all of this I learned what a beat boxer is. I'd never heard the term before in my 71 years.
      Have a great day! 🌝

Hi. I am actually an Avi Kaplan fan. Another couple of major collaborations of Avi's are "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair" with Peter Hollens and just recently "All is Well" an original song of his with Joy Williams.
If you want first octave on piano singing by Avi Kaplan try his "When I'm A Fool" live at Sunset Sound. It actually has visuals of the piano and bass as they and Avi hit those notes 😁
    Tim's low note is a G1 I believe.

New subscriber and great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas! They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Robb Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!

This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim (without Avi) goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion. Check out "Man Of Constant Sorrow".

Terrific reaction! For more Home Free, here are some sugestions: the song that was showing at the very end was "Champagne Taste (On A Beer Budget), and shows the group's fun side, as does their "Butts Remix", which is a medley of songs. "Man Of Constant Sorrow" is a good place to statrt, and shows some more of the beatboxer's ability, as does their "Sea Shanty Medley". "Helplessly Hoping" shows off their singing skills. You really can't go wrong with any Home Free song. ("Brothers In Arms" is another great one.) And if you're enjoying the a capella and the low bass singing, another group you should react to is VoicePlay ("My Mother Told Me", "Hide and Seek (Ding Dong)", "Hoist The Colors", and "The Oogie Boogie Song" are some to start out with.

You want to hear the bass hit a low note, check out Elvira with the Oak Ridge Boys. The two groups get along splendidly. The bit of video at the end of this one was Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, written by the bass Tim Foust. His Christmas song Full of Cheer is considered the sequel to it. For another song for the season try Cold Hard Cash, written by the young looking tenor Austin Brown. That video was done after May 2016, so Chris (cowboy hat) is gone and Adam Chance (with the tattoos, called Chance) is there. And then there's Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer. You see Tim's good friend Darrell, singing duo and music partners with Chance the Hound + the Fox (with baby), and Rob's (glasses) grandma. The guy whose house they invade is Darren, their producer and arranger. So many to chose from -- funny, serious, moving, goofy, holy hymns -- all wonderful to hear. I'm going to leave you with one final one that will move you to tears (Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits cover), and one that will bring tears of laughter to your eyes (Brother - a NeedToBreathe cover). And the lady warrior is Austin's beautiful partner Amberly.

Ring of Fire in a more modern, somewhat reggea-like version, but still respecting the original.
3¾ years ago this was the first video I saw/heard from Home Free. I got there because I was listening to Pentatonix at the time and Avi was my favorite. Immediately there was something that drew me to Home Free. From then on I followed them and after I think 2 videos I was a real Home Fry. I hardly follow PTX anymore. Avi still does, because Avi Kaplan and Home Free let me feel music and not just hear it. Their great harmonies, the unbelievably good inhuman beatboxing/vocal percussion( for me the best of the world) and of course that incredible deep bass that makes the ground vibrate and your speakers explode.

Adam Rupp, their beat boxer, is a human drum machine and has only gotten better with time. Their bass, Tim Faust has a 6 octave range that blows sub woofers or can hold his own with the tenors. Check out their Man of Constant Sorrows, When A Man Loves A Woman, Unchained Melody, Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up, Listen To The Music, just to mention a few. Hehe, you got your first Home-Fry taste of Tim Foust's superhuman bass, and actually award-winning beatboxer Adam Rupp! They're definitely worth checking out further - 'Man of Constant Sorrow' and 'Fulsome Prison Blues' will give you even more of a treat, showing off more of Tim's bass and Adam's sound-effect as well as beatboxing skills.
...and then of course you'll probably get calls to react to the third corner of the Acapella Triad of Perfection, Voiceplay. If you like a bit of theatrics with your acapella, you'll definitely love them (and their bass, Geoff Castellucci, can go EVEN LOWER than Tim and Avi.) of theirs, I can recommend 'Queen in Five Minutes,' 'Hoist The Colors' and 'The Dragonborne Comes' to get you started.

you mentioned that last note from Tim. there are many videos of Tim blowing out speakers at performances. when Tim drops his hand you can be sure the note will be in the basement. Adam Rupp, beatboxer and one of the founding members, is amazingly accurate with his percussion sounds. there are a few videos of drum solos during performances. you have one more a capella group to explore of those at the very top tier. Pentatonix are the more classic very polished of the 3. Home Free have taken the country music route to success. VoicePlay are the theater kids. All amazingly talented, seasoned vocalists. all with their own niche. you will not find them competing. i think of them as complementing each other. if they cover the same song, the arrangements are always different enough to show that there is room for everyone. all the arrangements will be amazing and play to each group's talents. just as an aside, all of the vocal percussionists in these groups stand out as excellent in what they do. each of them is different in their sounds and interpretations. enjoy the a capella rabbit hole.

Home Free is amazing, 100% acapella, 100% wonderful! No instruments at all, just amazing. You should really listen to their songs “Man of Constant Sorrow,” “Brothers in Arms,” “Mayday,” “One Man Band” “Butts Remix,” “End of the Road,” “Hillbilly Bone,” and “Elvira” for some real fun! For the Christmas season I would recommend “O Holy Night,” “Grandma Got Run Over By a Raindeer,” and “Mary Did You Know.”
Thanks for the reaction video, as a Home Fry myself I am always glad to see someone finding them for the first time!

That last note was a G1 growl. Tim is one of the best and with his 5 octave range that he uses effortlessly it's jus amazing

WELCOME! BTW - We HF fans are HOME FRIES! :) These guys are NOT a "country" group. I assume you are familiar with BOYZ II MEN? Listen you HF's cover of End of the Road. Then listen to HF members Rob and Austin sing the aria Nessun Dorma from Puccini's opera Turandot. Then listen to HF's basso profundo genius Tim Faust sing 1950's Doo-Wop song STAY (He sings all lead and b/u acapella.) These 5 guys can sing any genre they choose and in any key they like. Anyway, be well and enjoy your musical quests...Duke

With Christmas coming up, you should listen to Voiceplay's version of the oogie boogie song. If you want base, that would be the song for you. Also, after you listen to a few songs from home free and get to know them, react to Mayday. (Not until you know who sings what though)

There's actually quite a bit of crossover between Pentatonix fans (Pentaholics) and Home Free fans (Home Fries)... I'm among that group. Someone coined a term to describe us: "PentaFries".😃

I'm a Home Fry & because you enjoyed watching our Home Free guy's, I'm subscribing in hopes that you'll jump down the HF rabbit hole, there's over 150 videos. Btw, if you check out The Sing Off Season 4, you'll see Home Free actually performed that rendition on it, & Tim Foust the bass goes even lower on there. Thanks for reacting. I'd definitely start with Man Of Constant Sorrow to get even a better idea of what they can do.

It's always a treat to view reactor's checking out our guys, Home Free, for the first time. They are amazing! Country, rock, bebop, religious, their own originals and much, much more. Subbing so I can catch more of your reactions to our guys as you drop into the Home Free Rabbit Hole. Other commenters have suggested many of their songs to start with so I'll just say thank you and will be back soon.

Welcome to the rabbit hole of home free. I haven't heard a song of theirs that i don't like. Each of these men is amazingly talented and their harmonies are incredibly tight. They are a country base but sing pop, rock and disco. Austin and rob did a stunning version of Nessun Dorma. I hope you find as much joy as the rest of us home fries do while you explore this group.

Home Free started as primarily country, but they have branched out to multiple genres. Suggestions: "Mary did you Know," ":Do you Hear what I Hear," Try Everything," "Brothers in Arms," "Sea Shanty Medley." And oh, so very many more. Please and thank you!

This was only a microscopic taste of what Home Free can do. In my opinion there are 3 top tier A Capella groups ( there are others but for me these 3 are the top): Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voice Play. My favorite Home Free video/song is still "Man of Constant Sorrow". If you think the beat boxers drum sounds are on point, he will blow your mind with "Man of Constant Sorrow". Loving your reactions.

Home Free fans call themselves Home Fries. The vocal percussionist for Home Free is absolutely spectacular. His name is Adam Rupp and you will enjoy listening to his "drum solo". My favorite Home Free songs are "Man of Constant Sorrow", "How Great Thou Art" (the old hymn, you don't have to be religious or Christian to enjoy this one), "Blue Ain't Your Color", "Never Gonna Give You Up " (pure fun with the guys messing around), and "End of the Road" (to prove they can do more than just country music). For something really different check out Austin Brown an Rob Lundquist (the two tenors in Home Free) singing Nessun Dorma from Puccini's opera Turandot. They slay it.

I love Home Free, and I love when folks discover them for themselves ! Excellent reaction video ! For more Home Free, try reacting to their videos "The Butts Remix" (fun); "Helplessly Hoping" (insane harmonies); "End of the Road" (R&B/Soul); "Unchained Melody"; "How Great Thou Art" (spiritual); "Blue Ain't Your Color" (country blues); "When a Man Loves a Woman" (soul). They also have great original content, and some of the members have their own solo or other corroborative work (I suggest Peter Hollens featuring Tim Faust doing "Misty Mountains").

You should try Home Free, "Man of constant sorrow" vocal percussions are insane. I am a Pentaholic from way back and also a Homefry. I believe that makes me a PentaFry or is it a Homeaholic? I think Pentafry sounds better.

We're called PentaFries - Pentaholics and Home Fries. You're going to absolutely love this rabbit hole. Man of Constant Sorrow next, Hillbilly Bones, Helplessly Hoping... but wait until you've watch a dozen of their videos before you do May Day. You'll understand when you do finally listen.

By the way, Tim Foust (bass) and Austin Brown (high tenor - reddish hair) are both song writers and each has several original songs on their own channels. Tim has a 5 octave range which is demonstrated on his original song in the video "Snow Globe" and on his channel's video "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay". Because they sing in every genre some have compared it to a squirrel's nest rather than a rabbit hole!

Thanks for the Home Free reaction - I hope you go down the rabbit hole. We home fries will follow along! I always look forward to reactors' reactions to Tim's last note in this song. Makes me smile... I've seen Home Free live three times and he definitely goes lower live. There are tons of HF songs from which to choose. As you progress through their repertoire you should know that the early (pre-2017) songs included the two Rupp brothers who started the group, Chris and Adam. Adam is the beat boxer. Chris is in this song in several places but the two I quickly picked are 2:53 and 3:03. IN 2017 (if I remember correctly) Chris left to do his own thing and Adam Chance became the newest member. I have to stop or I'll get carried away...

Excellent, another Home Fry in the making. As everyone has suggested don't do Mayday till you are familiar with the group. Sounds weird to say that but it's true! 😊. Tim (bass) won the contest with Avi on the lowest note, so that's why Avi switched from his beanie to a cowboy hat! Went to two HF concerts this year and it was insane how good they are! Just sub'd for more HF reactions! Can't wait to see your reactions on the next songs! They just released a new album, 12 of the 14 songs are originals and written by Austin and Tim and friends. Enjoy this deep rabbit hole! 😊

    Check out their song ..
"The Dragonborn Comes", from video game Skyrim.
On this, they feature Omar Cardona, who is also a Contestant on this season of "The Voice". Their bass singer is Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci. This is Epic!
