There is a reason we call the Rupp-ster a "freak of nature" in the most loving way possible, he is amazing!
I'm always careful how I say that, lol. Yes, in the most loving way possible. I like to say he's a true vocal wizard. :)
When HF did 'Helplessly Hoping', Adam actually sings.
22+ years of PRACTICE!! Lol That's how he does it. 👍💕 He will do a sound over and over thousands of times until he gets it. His sounds are even cleaner now, which is hard to believe, listening to this, but this was like 7 years ago! 😉 His didgeridoo is better now, plus he has added different instruments over the years. His castanets in "Sea Shanty Medley" are ridiculous! He's definitely improved his bass even more. I've been watching him for years and he STILL blows my mind! 🤯 Plus, he plays 3 or 4 real instruments and has a gorgeous tenor voice! "Freak of nature" is right!!
Adam is the man. For sure. Don't know if you're aware that he and his brother started Home Free on 2000/2001. His brother Chris Rupp left in 2016 to pursue a solo career. So now Adam is 39 or 40 and has been in Home Free since he was 18 or 19. One of the founding fathers. Very low key and unassuming. All the Fries adore him. He has been married for about 10 years I think and has a beautiful wife and son and daughter. Hope you don't mind getting to know the guys better. Also, he rarely sings but when he does the 5 part harmonies are gorgeous.

I just accept that he is an alien, that makes it easier to understand. If you watch some of his newer ones he plays with loopers and does his own solo EDM piece

He is the best beatboxer EVER!! He won beatboxing championship 2 times! He can actually play the guitar, keyboard, trumpet, piano and drums! Sorry but Adam has never competed in Beatbox Championships nor does he ever have a desire or need to.
He has won a couple of harmony sweepstakes best vocal percussionist awards back in the day (one was honorary just for him) and a couple best overall beatboxer awards from the a cappella world.
I don’t know where this champ thing started, but I hope we can put an end to it.

@@tarjaikola He's never had the time to compete either. Too busy working and practicing to hone his skills. He truly is world class, tho'. I don't care that he didn't win championships, I love listening to him and respect how much hard work he puts into his craft and he doesn't just sit on his accomplishments, he's always improving and adding new and creative elements to his repertoire.
He has said that he has never entered a beat boxing championship. So this just a rumor. That being said, he is the best that I have ever heard and I went and watched the world beat boxing championships on YT. BTW, the WBBWC are held every 3 years.

Hey Ty !! That would be the best of any reactor I've heard in 3 years to Adam's 1-2-3....no one has been close and you almost nailed it !!!! Great job brother. For the opera video, just type in "two country singers try opera" and it'll come up in the search for ya. The two men are Austin Brown & Rob Lundquist, both of Home Free. Try to also react to their newer stuff too... Understand is an original that is radio worthy !!! Great catchy country-pop feel & sound. It's awesome. Also a new one that's also an original is Road Sweet Road....another very catchy tune co-written by band members Tim & Austin and possibly a 3rd collaborator.
Adam is a perfectionist in a way with anything he does. If he gets into something, he goes all the way in. So when he decides to do something, he practices it until it is perfect. I mean, he learned enough Korean to be able to sing part of song for a comedy skit they used to do. No half way for him. Now just think that he does this at every live show...EVERY SINGLE LIVE SHOW! Now that they use a live looper on the stage he has much more intricate stuff he does...but again, all live, all him. It's erased once he is done and he starts over the next night. You may want to check out one of his more recent ones. He has only gotten better in what he can produce. If he put out an album, I'd buy it! If you watch really close when he does the digeridoo sound, you can see that he is actually making the sound come from his throat so somewhere along the way he learned throat singing as well.
Love Adam Rupp & his insane talent. He is the best out there in my opinion. He simulates the sounds of a drum perfectly. Many drummers have commented on how good he is. He sounds so realistic. His breath control must be crazy. I heard he makes the sounds both while inhaling & exhaling. This was a few years ago & hard to believe but he is even better now. Adam is the glue that holds Home Free together. He is their secret weapon which other a cappella groups can't match.
You did pretty good. This video was so long ago and he has gotten so much better. He now uses a looper in part of his set so he can sing and harmonize with himself over the drum line. Look for a video from the 2022 Christmas show. I saw it live and I nearly fell out of my chair. Unbelievable.
This video is a great way to start learning about how talented Adam is. I would recommend watching some more recent shows though, to see how much he has improved and what other sounds he has incorporated into his performance. There are so many videos to choose from since he does a solo in EVERY concert. He also has the biggest vocal range in Home Free when you take into account all the sounds he makes, and that's saying a lot for this group!
Yes, this was his first one posted online. Now you have to watch his drum solos dated 2021-2022 to see how much his technique and style has improved. In other group videos you'll hear castanets, jet planes flying over, and other fantastic sounds you don't expect from a human mouth. Adam Rupp is fantastic and always a joy to listen to. Oh, yeah, there also 9 to 5 + Beatboxing Breakdown where they all get a chance to show their beatboxing skill. There are two version of that; with Chris, and a later one with Chance. I like to watch their video for the Dolly Parton song 9 to 5 first, just for continuity.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Home Free 5 times, and Adam never fails to bring down the house with his solo.

Adam plays a trumpet, but learned to play drums so he could "play" them onstage. Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. This one is 2015 and he's only gotten better! My fave is 2018. Love it
Love this one. He has newer ones but he uses a looper (which I understand saves his voice) but I love this one as it’s so clear and it’s mostly drums. Adam is amazingly talented. The “outback” is the Australian outback and he was doing the sound of a didgeridoo that aboriginals use. You did pretty good on the “3” sound. I can’t do it at all.

Great reaction!!! Adam is just plain PHENOMENAL! He learned to play the drums to make his beatboxing more believable. One reactor wanted to know if he had 3 throats lol. I love that he actually looks embarrassed when the audience just keeps applauding and he has to take a second bow and they still keep going. Not to bad lol Better than the girl who videoed it and she did try at least. I would love to know what his actual range is because in this you hear him drop the bass and in Listen to the Music he does this beautiful clear high note and most people first thought was Austin

When he said Deep in the Southern Outback, he was imitating a Digereedoo. And there was a woman that came very close to copying him on the 3 and what came before it. 👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠💓💓 The Opera is Nessun Dorma by the 2 tenors, Rob and Austin!

I saw the boys last week in Denver and they're still including the drum solo. Giving the others a chance to go off stage for a breather, maybe snag a bottle of water, take a bathroom break. Another wonderful show!

Curiously, considering they're an acapella band, they can all play instruments: Adam Rupp took jazz drumming to perfect his beatboxing, plays trumpet and just about anything he likes; Rob can play saxophone; Chance plays guitar; Tim and Austin both play piano. By the way, in the live videos "9-5 beatboxing breakdown" and "Mayday (Live)", they alllll beatbox.
P.S. - Adam Rupp & his brother Chris founded the band in 2000 (Chris left in 2016? to pursue other projects). You asked how Adam did that beatboxing? Over 20 years worth of practice!

To get a real idea of Rupp's contribution to HF give a listen to their Helplessly Hoping and How Great Thou Art. In those songs there is no beatboxing at all. He joins in on a 5 part harmony that is gorgeous.
And this was several years ago. He's grown even better over the years. Adam has a very impressive vocal range. Probably as large of a range as Tim if not larger.
I still swear that he breathes through his ears.

Thought you'd appreciate this! Good job on the "three" - I mean, you're not Adam, but you were closer than anyone else I've heard. He's a genius who can't quite explain what he does - when he did a "how to" video on the nomonica, it was about as useful as those How To Draw instructions which basically go "draw this big circle here, draw that smaller circle there, then all you have to do is fill in the rest of the owl..."
He's a real drummer as well. Not just a beat boxer. He's in the top 3 ranked beat boxers as well

Love your reactions Dude!!! And your sense of humor! You have only touched the tip of the iceberg with these guys. There are so many videos I would love to suggest from them. Such as Woman Amen/Female... Sold... Can't stop the feeling... Try everything... Hillbilly Bone... Butts Medley... Blue ain't your color... Folsom Prison Blues... Mayday... and their original song called Catch Me If You Can. That's just to name a few of them... lol. But I would also like to tell you that there is one more group that you REALLY NEED to add to your acapella rabbit hole. And that group is Voice Play. They are just as amazing as Home Free and Pentatonix. Voice Play also adds a touch of theatre to their videos. They really go all in. In my opinion, these are THE top 3 groups as far as Acapella goes. Never have either of them done anything bad. I do so hope that you find and react to all songs from each of the 3 groups. That will take you quite some time, but will please many many people. Have fun on the pleasurable journey.

This isn't true. I won two competitions that were National I think (but Regional at the very least). One was Chicago and I forget where the other was. And since I read that article, I haven't been able to find it again. But it isn't world champion although I'd bet on him if he entered that.
