@@FatSal619 I assume AJ has been trying all 10 years he's been here but trying doesn't cut it. It's the results people see and care about. I'm sure AJ isn't done yet, but neither are the Dodgers Arizona and probably the Giants. The Phillies I'm sure aren't done along with a number of other teams. EVERYONE will be trying to get better That's in the race. The problem is the Padres are hamstrung with their payroll, no one else in our division is so it will be interesting to see who does what.

I been saying this team is is WS caliber. They just need to clean up the offensive inconsistencies. If Manny and X didn't have such poor starts, we'd be challenging for the division. We do need BP help bad, tho.

A little shout out should be given to CJ Abrams who managed to be picked off first two times tonight. A ton of credit to Kim who took the cut off from the outfield turned around and saw CJ walking back to first with his back to him and fired a strike to nail him with his foot still in the air when the tag was applied.

@@Jukeboxster you sound like you never played sports before, and if you did you probably sat in the corner behind the trash can if anything happened on the field to one of your teammates. DEFEND THEM ?? I already said you can celebrate any way you want but when you turn to the dugout of the posing team and start gesturing, hell yeah you should expect repercussions. That's just understood. I said the high and tight pitch he received the other night for him looks closer than it was because he was up at the plate. But if that fires him up to think it was intentional then good for him. He was also insulted they walked the lead off hitter because they'd rather pitch to him. That was the smart call, so he can feel insulted but there's a much better chance of getting a strikeout with Profar than a guy who's a pure contact hitter and one of the best hitters in baseball. Again though if he wants to take it personal and it fires him up then great !! It's one thing to be fired up running around the bases but when you stop in front of the opposing dugout making gestures and pounding your chest you'd have to be awfully naive to think they're going to let that slide. Personally I would want to catcher who did what the nats catcher did. That's a throwback guy standing up for his team and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm not defending anyone, I just know how the game is played.

I'm sure after the game ended tonight the four on fires got together in their room to figure out how they were going to handle the repercussions of tonight's game if there are any. I would be surprised if there weren't. Mackenzie Gore pitch like a typical Padre drafted pitcher. Five innings 95 pitches and he was done. Not necessarily because he couldn't get the Padres out but as typical for a Padre he had just throne too many pitches. Once again the Padres only got five innings out of their starter and had to use their closer after blowing a 9 to 4 lead. Second time in the last few games the bullpen couldn't protect a big lead and the closer had to be called in to end it. I know I know what you're going to say, just save it.

  • @mike-vq8zw

I'm sure everyone will jump to the wrong conclusion when I say this but I'll say it anyway. How Profar could be insulted because they walked one of the best hitters in baseball to pitch to him. He has already beaten a team that made the decision to pitch to him so in my mind it was a no-brainer to put him on. If Profar wants to be insulted and it fires him up good for him. The pitch that knocked him down wasn't actually as close as he thought it was but when you throw that hard and it's as high as your noggin Yes you jump out of the way. As far as his big hit goes ,it was clutch, but he did put on quite a show in front of Washington's dugout and I never realized he was that big of a hot dog but apparently he is. The fact that their catcher had something to say to him in his first at bat, I only wish we had a catcher that would have done the same but I'm afraid we don't. When he hit his grand slam it landed four rows up from me and it sure was exciting, but once again he put on a little bit of a show. Then when the catcher made an out a little later in the game it looked like to everyone in my section that he was waving goodbye to him for making an out or whatever it was. It was really dramatized on the big screen. I fully expect if Washington was pissed off after last night's game they are double pissed off tonight because of his antics. Once again I'm not blaming him I'm just saying if I were him I wouldn't dig in on Wednesday. If he gets hit I would say he deserves it but if I was his teammate I would be out there defending him. Regardless of whether Gore meant to hit him or not I feel comfortable in saying none of our pitchers would have even come inside let alone hit him. Think of all the times Fernando has been either dusted off or flat out hit and there is no retaliation or protection for ANY Padre hitter. So bottom line I think Profar was over the top and if anything comes his way tomorrow he should be looking for it but if I was a teammate I would defend him. As for the manager being thrown out it is kind of ironic but it really doesn't matter if you think he was right or wrong all you have to do is say the right buzzword and you're going to get thrown out regardless. I hope Profar continues this all season but it is a long season so let's just hope he can continue this after the All-Star break. Remember Will Myers had an All-Star first half in 2016 and then fell flat on his face the second half. It was the only Good half season offensively Will ever had with the Padres. So let's enjoy profar but without getting carried away. The chanting of MVP were a little ridiculous tonight, and that was before he hit the Grand slam. All-Star game yes but MVP? So I'm not saying Profar can't act the way he did, but when you do, expect a return volley. He didn't like being shown up but he felt it necessary to show up Washington so what goes around comes around I guess. I can't wait till the usual suspects read this and then twist my words around.

No twisting of words, this is just your thing and I get it now. You're the contrarian. everyone else has fun, enjoys the game and you're the guy that wants to be the "reality check" or voice of reason, and tell people why things aren't actually going that well. @@Jukeboxster I think anyone who has played baseball, hockey or football understands celebration. You cannot expect to have this many individual but when the celebrator makes it personal to the other team you SHOULD expect some return fire. You would have to be incredibly ignorant of sports to think otherwise. You can get personal all you want, you actually sound like Profar getting his feelings hurt because a team chose not to pitch to one of the best hitters in baseball and decided to try their luck with him. That was a baseball decision, nothing personal, but that goes over some people's heads I guess.
