I'm glad that you finally recognized it and admitted it. The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem. Not that you will actually do anything about it but feed into that addiction lol
Hi Carrie. You look fabulous as always! So glad that you’re doing a unboxing of the meta-ray glasses, smart glasses. I’ve been waiting for either you or Sam to do one. I know others have done their reviews and thoughts of the product, but, I always like to hear what you and Sam say about products. Sending my love to you and your son and John whole family. Hopefully one day we can play catch-up. Take care. Bye for now and thank you for another wonderful tech video.
Thanks Stephen! I'm hoping to get the full review very soon! It's definitely a great product, but not perfect. They have drawbacks and I'll explain soon!
Hey Carrie, great review is always. I mean unboxing anyway. I always like to see your product videos. I feel like you give your true opinion. Hope you enjoy them, and hope they help you a lot. I'm thinking about ordering a pair myself. Keep up the great videos!😊
Hey Lenard! Thank you so much. It's always my goal to be completely honest in my videos! I'll have the full review soon.. it doesn't have some big drawbacks... like not being able to read and only wanting to summarize and having restrictions on describing images with pictures. Let me know if you do get one and how you like it if you do!
Another great video, Carrie. Thanks. I was delighted with your enthusiasm. I'd love to get them, but they have restrictions on the strength of prescription lenses that can be accommodated and mine are outside of their specifications. Darn. I'll be interested to hear how comfortable you find them when wearing them for an extended period of time. The frames are molded with limited options for adjusting to your face/head. The customary means of fitting molded frames is to heat up the frames and bend them. Since these frames have electronics in them the heating method is forbidden. About the only options for face fitting are to make sure you get the best size and with some nose pad thingies. I look forward to your reports after you have spent more time with them.
I'm planning a while video on it, but it's definitely great so far. It has a lot of uses that aren't just for accessibility. I love that I can take pictures and videos on them and can listen to music and such with it. The AI does have quite a lot of limitations on it though. That's what's very frustrating. It can't read a document, just summarize and it doesn't like to describe people. But it does really well with descriptions and products.
Fun video! I've been seeing a lot of videos on these. Wondering what the sound quality would be like when you're out in public such as a noisy restaurant.
Oh, it could definitely be louder. It can get loud enough for me most of the time, even in a noisy restaurant. But in certain types of noises, it feels harder. For example, lawn mowers or lots of traffic- that type of noise, I relaly struggle with. It relaly would be helpful to have it much louder.
How were you able to turn up talkback that easily? When I do it, it brings up a menu turn up the media volume, but I can quickly find the accessibility volume slider. Mean while, you just pressed the volume up button. How did you do that?
To adjust the accessibility volume, you can tap and keep one finger on the screen while you use the volume keys. :) It's one of the updates from talkback and you can find info on it in the "what's new" section that pops up after updating and in the talkback settings.
Hey just found your channel. To get the smart glasses to read an entire document you need to say, “hey Meta, Look and read the entire document from top to bottom”. Otherwise is summarises what it’s seeing. Looking forward to watching your review.
@@carrieonaccessibility ill be interested to hear if you find a more concise way to read a page. I'm wondering if these would be practical for reading pages in a book or if font size would be too small. Thanks for the unboxing--it was my favorite so far!
I tested these glasses few weeks. After that bought my own, and next day after I got it I had calition with a pillar, and they compleately damage.. So be carefull they are not so durable. But I really like it, and waiting another one from Amazon. I think, that they was not enough dark for me, so I did not see pillar . because I see nothing in daylight. σo now I got special timted film, I hope everything will be ok.
Oh no! I hope you're okay. Yes, I really like them, too and hope you enjoy the next pair. I got the transition, but it is not dark enough for me. I also have a sunglasses one which is nice, but I kind of wish that it could be on my head without being on my face. haha. Thankfully I haven't broken mine which I'm a bit surprised at, but my mom is always complaining about it being dirty though I can't really notice a lot of the time. lol.
That's a really good question. There's a huge price difference and a huge functionality difference. II think the Ray Ban meta glasses are more worth the money, but the envision glasses probably have more use as someone that is blind.
Hey there, just have a quick question. Did the glasses come with a cable to charge them? That seems maybe like a dumb question, but I had heard in another review that there was no cable. If not, would you recommend a USB a to USB-C cable? Or, is it able to take USB-C to USB-C cable? Thanks for any advice.
Hmm. I don't believe that it came with a cable. You put the glasses in the case then plug a USB C cable into the case. I've used both USB A and USB C to charge them. :)
@@carrieonaccessibility thanks. I really like my. Metta glasses. The cool thing about them, as well, is that you will soon be able to use them with Be My Eyes, and you can already use them with Aira. Just let them know that you want to use the glasses, while on the call, and they will send you a link/code so that you are able to use them.
hi, new to your channel & I got the Meta smart glasses also because I am legally blind with nystagmus as well & suffered nerve damage to my neck & head causing further vision issues so hoping these will be of help. subbed 👍
@@carrieonaccessibility I am enjoying them one drawback for me is the transitional lenses don't change unless you're in direct sunlight & I am highly light sensitive & can't do sunlight without sunglasses & wearing a hat the bill apparently blocks them from transitioning I don't feel like the transitionals are good for people with vision issues I still use my actual sunglasses
I definitely agree about the transitions. Also, they don't transition enough for me. It's just a little tint. :( But the sunglasses version is pretty dark... I just wish that the transitions worked so that you don't have to have both. Or perhaps clip ons, magnetic clips on would be cool.
@@carrieonaccessibility oh for sure magnetic clip ons would be great but I have a pair of sunglasses that do a good job blocking out light I have no complaints on the glasses overall other than that the AI does a good job

Hi I would like to know first of all I'm totally blind so I would like to know can I use these glasses to read my mail and is it compatible with be my eyes and seeing AI
It is not compatible with any of those apps unfortunately. Perhaps in the future, they will be and that would be really awesome. You can definitely use it completely blind, but it cannot read for you. It will only summarize. Which is definitely a huge drawback.
I'm just thinking of how sweaty my ordinary shades get in the coolness of times before the sun, in this humidity.I'm always swiping my face and eventually having to stop and just seriously take several bounty paper towels to my face, neck, shoulders forearms and hands, then the glasses, in detail. That's after starting out freshly dried at home from the shower with box fans helping me. The walk to the store does this. No matter how I pace myself to try to go slower, in the dark, with a breeze. Those might be better than the sweaty headphones though. Always ordering new ear pads for every headset. I just wonder how well those frames can hold up to my drying off rituals before I can enter a store, or doctor appointment or jury duty... How is the sharp feeling part of the frames now, since you made the video? I would wish I could swim with them on not ducking under water, but alone with no splash fest potential around me, which sometimes happens.
For the sharp edge, It's really not something that touches my skin and it is pretty comfortable for the most part. It's really not something I notice unless I'm feeling for it. It's not that sharp. It's more of a distinctive line. I was just surprised about it more than uncomfortable with it. I constantly put them on and off and up onto my head and down. It's holding up pretty well honestly.
We could hear the music even though you were wearing it and it was away from the mic now this causes some concern if I’m gonna be listening to something I don’t want the people around me to be listening to the same. It might cause disturbance and privacy concerns. Since you’re an android user, I wouldn’t know whether the voice assistant Siri would work with the metal glasses. Also, I feel that it might require more power if you’re out and about. Thank you for the review.
I did increase the volume on the audio so that people could hear it, but the concern is definitely valid. To answer your questions, the audio can be heard if the people around you are close and if your volume is loud and if the environment is quiet. There is some noise bleed, yes, but in ereality, if you have it at a reasonable volume, at most, people wil know you're listening to something, but won't be able to tell what it is. Especially when its a voice speaking. Everyone around me had to really get within a few inches away to start understanding what it is saying.
