  • Do you think your cat hates you? 😾👇🏼 If you watch our video, you will see that cats can't hate in the way we humans are so good at. However, we can experience problems in our relationships with our cats due to the way we treat them. We may not understand that what we are doing is actually leading to problems, but this is likely because we are not paying sufficient attention to our cat's body language and methods of communication. If we do, we might see that what we understand is hate is simply a rejection of being treated in a certain way. Most importantly, a cat's behavioral changes might be due to a health issues, so it is imperative we take our cat to the vet if they starting acting like they hate us. 5 real signs that your cat hates you:
    5. It stares at you from afar.
    4. It will not let you touch it.
    3. it maintains eye contact with you while peeing into your shoe.
    2. you find your favorite article of clothes shredded.
    1. It slits your throat while you sleep.

What a stupid ass comment. By your reasoning there are so many neglected and unwanted children in our orphanages, and starving children with little prospects of a good life in the 3rd world, and yet we in our developed countries still procreate and bring children into our families. When I decide to get a pet and commit myself to taking care of an animal for the next 15-20 years I'd like to think I can choose where I'm going buy it and not be pressured by the likes of you to settle for a stray animal. Keep your judgemental ass out of other people's affairs!!

My next break she did the opposite and was very clingy and affectionate but I still went away again. The rest of my visits hone she just treated me like an acquaintance didn't ignore me but refused to accept too much affection. Now, I live in the suburbs and I have left her on my parents' farm because it would be dangerous for her in such a different environment. She is happy to see me when I visit now, which isn't too often since the only way to get there is a 5 hour drive, but I know she is safe and happy and better off where she is.

How silly to talk about the ‘hatred’ of a cat to us. A cat doesn’t hate you, he dislikes/feels threatened / uncomfortable with what you’re doing to him. The response is always: fight or fly. If he can’t fly or hide, he’ll bite or scratches. Before resorting to this, he has given you plenty of warnings through his body language, but you have ignored them all because you never bothered to learn to read them, you think your cat should react like a human. Well, they don’t - and they don’t HATE you, this is an anthropomorphic view.

It may be that the cat was already biting, etc. Like the video says, if the cat knows "Every time I bite someone, I'll be left alone" they will bite. If they see that biting doesn't get them left alone, and once they calm down they are left alone, then they may learn that biting isn't the answer when dealing with unpleasant human hands.

My Siamese cat is a precious little angel boy, but my grandmother always had mean cats. My stupid cousins were allowed to play rough with her cats, and then they would grow up to be not so nice. I hate when people play rough with cats! I treat my cat like a baby, and he's always by my side, he's more loyal, and loving than many dogs. I'm always thinking, what can I do to spoil and pamper him more.

Unfortunately, people seem to forget that young children under the age of 10 should really be supervised by a responsible older person at *all times* when handling or stroking animals. And children under the age of 5 aren't old enough to handle animals at all yet. It's just best.

growing up with my grandma, she had an overfed neutered male tabby. His name was Lars. we lived in a Tri-Plex family "compound" i used to call it three seperate homes on one property. when I would visit my grandmothers home on our property I always wondered why the cat was mean and did not like to be touched. It would be a few months maybe years later that my sadistic piece of human trash of a cousin used to chase the cat with a broom stick, completely traumatizing him every chance he could get. Then I found out my psychopath of a brother did the exact same things. they actually thought it was funny. Once my cousin and brother moved out, and Lars passed away gramma got a new cat had no-one to fear.
I treat my personal cat at my house just as a baby. i dont understand how some people can be so messed up in the head they hurt precious little sweet animals. cats are natures gifts

I had a cat who used to hiss and growl at EVERYTHING. I mean seriously, if she was sleeping with you, and you moved, she'd hiss. But then immediately she'd start purring again, and start cuddling and giving kisses. The strangest thing though was that she NEVER bit or scratched. EVER. And the other cats used to bully her because she wouldn't fight back. She was a complete wimp.

To raise a cat needs a lot of self-reflection and tolerance. I was never a really patient character, but I had to develop one, to avoid getting angry for my cats' behaviour. But the hard to swallow pill is that they're always right and your are wrong. They aren't stupid or evil or unthankful. 99% of the time their behaviour is just a reaction to your behaviour as an owner. At some point you will think that you deserve the cat's love, or that she must be grateful for all the things you give her. You start to think: how did I deserve this or that behaviour? I invested so much in this relationship. But a cat doesn't think in human timespans. Cats are living in the very moment and reconnect to you every day. If you start changing, because you are stressed in any way, they will recognise this almost immediately and react to it. They will most certainly back up from you because your stress puts them under stress. *Sigh* It's pretty difficult to have a cat-relationship. But it makes you more tolerant towards other creatures' boundaries, it makes you reflect yourself productively and it makes you patient. I love my cats, even though they're sometimes pretty challenging.

I have found that female cats tend to bond better with Men whereas male cats tend to be mummy's boys. I have always let my cats make the running in terms of our relationships. I speak cat quite well, so I can judge what they are telling me. My last cat bonded with me as soon as I got her home. She jumped out of her carrying box as soon as I opened the door. Then she trotted by my feet as I showed her every room in the house. That done I sat down to relax and she jumped on my lap and fell asleep for 3 hours. At bed time she jumped up onto the bed and lay on my pillow right next to my face. That established our relationship and she was the one who dictated how we bonded. I just did as I was told.

I had a traumatized cat but she was not aggressive or hating. She was terribly afraid and trembling badly. It was so bad that the first vet visit Triggered my vet to step away and ask me "uhm... Is this how you got her from the shelter?"
Well... Partly, at home she had already overcome the first part and sat on my lap and even loved tummy rubs. I asked him why he asked. Turned out he "would have put her to sleep when doing the adoption checkup, because she would never stand any chance of rehabilitation".
I was shocked, but also happy to tell him how things were at home. Yes, she was jumpy and a wiggle of my toe made her jump off my lap instantly, looking at me from a safe distance. But all I had to do was speak to her calmly and lay my hand away from my body on the couch. That way, she came back to the here and now and as soon as she had sniffed my scent she came straight back on my lap.
She ended up overcoming all in the 6, 5 years I had her. She felt comfortable walking after me to the kitchen and back beside my feet and even became cheeky enough to (try to) steal my food 😁. All I ever did was sit in the same space as her from a distance, talk, let her get used to me but not move in. 3 times a day, 5 minutes or so. Then the next step was my hand between us. Let her come on her terms. She sniffed once and rolled over for a tummy rub. I was amazed! It took her a few more days to come to the living room but I did still do the visits while she became more trusting and playful. After that I let her take the steps on her terms and her speed. It worked wonders with her and it all just felt so instinctive. 2 years after first vet visit, he semi-seriously asked me if this was really the same cat or a different white one as she had changed so dramatically. She still didn't like it much, but the drama of the first visit was way gone. He could pet her, an intern could and she was just not trembling like she would fall off the table with a heartbeat I was afraid would stop due to fear.
I fell into illness and a depression and still blame myself for not spending more time with her during that time as it turned out to be her last months. I had to let her go right after New Year '16. My little heroin. I miss her dearly 🐾❤️

I find that a good general rule of thumb is that if your cat doesn't hiss at you then you're all good.
You and your cat are inevitably going to annoy each other from time to time, which is ok; and they'll forgive you and forget about it fairly quickly. Like, when you pick them up, or pet them when they're not in the mood, or if you shout at them for using the door as a scratching post, or whatever.
But if it gets to the point of hissing then it's usually a sign that they're afraid for their life, or at least that they feel really threatened.
But not always, a casual hiss is fine on it's own, when not accompanied by the dilated pupils, ears back, and tail swaying, etc. One of my cats gave me a casual hiss a few weeks ago when I asked her if she wanted to go outside for a poo. It was the funniest thing ever!
And my other cat hates that cat, and she casual-hisses at her several times a day when she gets within a foot or two of her. Or when she walks into the room. It's almost a greeting at this stage. Kind of like _"hello, but stay away from me."_
It really is all about knowing them, and the signs.
Also, lot of mistake-attacks from cats happen due to user error, when you're tapping your finger on the side of the chair, or something like that, and you don't see the cat sneaking up to attack the "moving thing".

Only I couldn't explain to him that his friend was very ill and needed to go to the vet ASAP, and right now their safe hiding space under the couch was not a priority. I was in a state anyway as I didn't know whether she would make it. So prospects: One cat probably soon dead, and another that hates me forever. Liquid cat poop everywhere. Yippee yay. I had no clue what to do so on to Google I went. The advice I got: Don't approach the cat. Leave dirty laundry around so the cat gets used to the smell. When he watches you from across the way, slow blink but do not approach. Tell the cat everything you're about to do. You can't see him but he will hear you. Well any advice is better than no advice so I followed that to the letter, It worked. Took about a week and we were good :) Princess made it too though sadly we never formed quite the same bond. Cats are amazing at not holding grudges, I would not have been that easy to bring round.

The quick result was due as much to the cat having a rock-stable personality, he was acting up because all hell had broken loose on him and he must have thought he'd lost his friend, and gained a human that was dead set on violating his much needed privacy even if it meant moving furniture around.
Sounds like you have a very dependent cat. Getting another cat to keep him company might be an idea, but that's a massive challenge in itself from what I've seen, depending on your living circumstaances. I'd google it, worked for me after all :)

Try to close the doors where your clothes are. The food and litter, well.. I understand it ain't fun but sweep it up and done.
But, and that's the hard thing, some cats just don't do well when alone and also don't do well with other animals. Have you asked your vet or a cat behaviorist?
I would take him in, but that would be a little too complicated I'm afraid.... Unless he's been vaccinated properly, I would seriously pick him up at the airport. But she simmered down and tolerates us. She barely purrs. Doesn’t meow even for food. She is so stubborn but we love her from a distance. Every now and again she will snuggle with one of us. Extremely rare. Usually when we need to get up to go use the restroom. And she still swats at us but she doesn’t use her claws unless she is really ticked off. I guess that’s the best one can expect from a once feral kitty.

Jeff Yy well, all cats scratch. They all have claws,I’ve even been scratched a bit by my friends cat, although her cat actually loves me a lot but uh,your cat could be annoyed,or wanted to be left alone? But you shouldn’t blame (or something) it on the cat. I mean, they’re cats! All cats do have claws, unless you cut them. But like, those cuts will heal, and if you put scars on your cat that would be really bad. Owners may get cuts by cats from time to time, but that’s normal unless your cat doesn’t have claws (assuming that they were cut off) or your cat doesn’t claw people, etc.

Can a cat learn to understand affection when they are older? I have a 4 year old cat that I adopted from a local shelter. The only day she ever let me pick her up was the first day I got her. She does not like me to pet her back. She makes a lot of growley noises at me yet, she also gives me kitty kisses, meets me when I come in (most of the time) and will lick me. I do not know what her home situation was prior to coming home with me. I know that she was a surrender. I didn't even know that before she was brought to the shelter she had never been spayed and had been nursing a litter of kittens with scant milk supply (she is very thin) I have had her for about maybe 4 weeks now. I have seen her go from not liking me to touch her to her tolerating head pets. I think she actually does enjoy them. However, over all she is just a very grumbly growly cat. She even makes a nom nom nom sort of growling sound when she eats! I have another cat that she has a pretty good relationship with. They sometimes hiss at eachother or growl but then nothing happens. Or they both wide up sitting together on the same cough minutes after a hiss. I think she is learning some social skills or maybe she is becoming less scared. Could she be watching my other cat to see how that cat reacts to me and sort of learning from her? The O.C - original cat is a few months younger than the new one. She will be 4 in about July- August so that is about 2 months from now. I mean I know a 4 year old cat is an adult cat but, I understand that cats can live into their teens and 20s so I still think 4 years is still relatively young when you look at it that way. They say you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Will my new cat keep learning more about living in a loving home? When I first got her she would shudder at my hand or try to lash out, hiss and still loves to growl. However a few days ago I was having a very bad day and I sat on the couch and just cried and cried and cried. She looked at the O.C who is actually a dr prescribed emotional support cat and I swear it was like they exchanged some kind of expression or thought because she was the one that crawled into my lap and let me pet her for a good 5-10 minutes. That should be a sign that she is warming up to me right?

My friend was dramatic and hated my cats she never came to my house again. Me and my friend are 13. She has had experiences with other cats i guess no one corrected her

SAMMY’S WORLD Sounds a lot like my cat, who will soon be 19 yrs old. Mixed breed cat descended from alley cats who were fed for many years by a friend of mine, though most of these cats had some Siamese ancestry. I adopted him & his twin sister when they were 7 weeks old. They’d been inseparable since birth and remained very close till her death at age 17. My remaining cat grieved severely & almost died within a few months of his twins’s death. But he gradually began feeling better, after about 8 months, has since gotten progressively better. He has always been very affectionate, also very funny & entertaining, always trying to amuse me, has slept on my shoulder all his life. Couldn’t ask for a better friend! Like your cat, he’s very friendly with everyone he meets...humans, other cats, kittens, dogs. I’d never lived with a cat before he & his sister came to live with me; I’d always had dog companions. Maybe because I treated him & his sister like puppies when they were young, don’t know, but they always behaved more like dogs: super affectionate, very dependent on me (hated whenever I went out for even an hour), usually coming when called, etc.
Glad to see someone else has an elderly cat who’s a perfect companion like mine!

I found out why my friends cat hated me last week. I had never really been able to win her over before, she is a rescue cat, a tortie and a bit standoffish. I was wearing a woolly jumper and had my arm laying across the back of the sofa and she kept jumping up and frantically nudging my arm before biting it and jumping off. I at first I thought my arm was in her spot, but even if I moved my arm, she was still nudging and biting. As the night went on, I got a bit hot and took my jumper off. Again, she jumped up on the back of the sofa and this time, she was very friendly and I was able to stroke her and rub her ears. For some reason, she hated my jumper. My friend who was up before me the following morning told me that she had attacked my jumper that morning, but with me she was still very friendly.
I have no idea what problem she has with my jumpers, maybe she objects to the seemingly pointless use of wool or maybe she is getting a slight electric shock from it, but I know now what her problem with me was.

Her symptoms are coughing fits during which I pick her up and rub her back till they pass. Sometimes she sneezes at the end of them. I noticed following the most recent show of symptoms that she would wake crying at night. I asked the vet if cats can have nightmares. He said it was more likely that she would wake up having trouble breathing and that it would upset her.
Her happiness and well being are of the utmost importance to me, so I would have to agree with what you mentioned about making sure first that changes in behavior are not health related before assuming it was some kind of attitude issue.

No. Collodial silver has no proven scientific studies that it works for humans or pets. If your pet got better, that's great, but it could of been anything from time, to placebo. I would not risk giving a metal that the body doesn't process to any living being. In humans it permanently changes their skin a sickly bluish color and the body doesn't break it down, so the change is permanent. Unless your vet approves, do not use these alternative and homeopathic like treatments.
I find it terrifying that any one can just buy something like that and that it's being marketed as a cure all when there are no studies that show that it even does anything or that the ends justify the means.

I have a little boy kitty for the first time, and we’ve been through some serious traumas together, since day one! I didn’t know at the time I acquired him that he wasn’t being properly cared for or given any attention from ppl, nor that he was absolutely INFESTED with parasites! I worked for days to remove thousands of fleas, and treat his little ears and nose, and although it’s been two months, he still favors his ears some. This entire process was very traumatic for us both, it was very time consuming and he was very afraid of me and upset with me at first, but I think he figured out, eventually, that I was just trying to help him. But he really messed my hands up and didn’t trust me for a while. (Vet tech said his ears are fine, but I still worry sometimes) I am definitely NOT used to the extreme, going out of the way to piss me off, behavior at all! He knows exactly what I do not like him doing, and even when we’re having a super great day together, sometimes he will just decide he wants to focus on and destroy something that I love and work hard to distract him from, with toys, treats, playing, even removing him from the room. He will become vindictive at times and stare me down until he does eventually lunge at me. I do NOT back down, I’ve owned dogs my whole life and I’ll be damned if an animal is going to come into my home and think he is in charge and can disrespect me!!! That’s not me at all. That being said: I adore him, but I’m wondering more and more if owning him is right for me. Every time I think we understand one another and we are in the right track, he returns to a behavior that I believe he’s been broken of, and we have to start all over again, making us both lonely and angry. I’m so beyond frustrated with him right now. I think he may have begun spraying and the lines for neutering appointments are so long in my city right now. I noticed in the video you mention going to the vet about pretty much every little thing. Now, maybe rich folks can afford this, but I simply cannot. And I shouldn’t have to take him to the vet ten thousand times before he has a solid routine and we can understand one another. I’m constantly researching and redirecting him, and playing and snuggling with him. He has a lot of freedom and alone time and toys and personal space, I keep his food and water well stocked, his litter box clean, I spend tons of time with him, I talk to him just like he is one of my kiddos. I’m just kind of at my wits end right now. I can hear him in my living room destroying everything. I’m so upset I’m in my bathroom shaking and crying because I just don’t know how to fix this!! He is my little baby and we both need and love each other, but I am just not sure what is right or fair or healthy for either of us at this time! I’m so sad. I wish I could find a video that would teach me how to teach HIM to respect me as his alpha, but also let him know he is loved and wanted and happy and well cared for and comfortable. I’m sorry, but it’s absurd to just allow an animal to run all over you in your home, as if they are in charge and not you. The way this video illudes to that was very annoying to me. There’s got to be a person with common sense that speaks on these issues somewhere! Any advice helps, thanks

I’m sure my cat hates us. He’s weird he’ll sleep next to us but hates and I mean hates being petted. As soon as you start to touch him his tail starts to angrily twitch and then he’ll bite. And it’s strange we’ve had him since he was a kitten and he wasn’t that mean. He’s just gotten worse.

I'm stunned and confused by my cats behavior change. He had always been Loving, attentive, follow me everywhere, cuddle, all if it. Then he got out one night, headed for the street. He wouldn't come to me when I called for him. He just ignored me. I got scared for him and I started getting pissed (had been looking and chasing him for an hour at 11pm at night). All I did was yell. Telling him to get in the house. I lost my temper. I did not hit him, grab him, or physically hurt him in anyway. Now he's like he's a different cat. He still sleeps next to me, but won't cuddle and if he does it's brief. He either likes me one minute, or Totally ignores me the next. No biting or attacking. What do I do?! I love him so much and this is killing me...

Don't worry. It takes some time to get their trust back. Just be patient.
My cat is a very naughty cat. She would always hiss at me when I come closer. But she likes to sleep in my bed when I'm gone.
I would always come slowly at her and lie next to her being quiet and careful and she'd leave me alone without hissing at me and lying 10 inches away from me. I kept doing this for weeks and I can finally come closer to her without scaring her. I would sometimes pet her for a bit and leave her alone because she's cautious of me. I kept repeating this and voila! She's my best buddy now! She loves me so much!
I also do the same with stray cats that begs me for food. I give them food, come closer to them without invading their personal space which is one meter away at the most. I keep repeating this and feeding them, coming closer to them each day until they finally trust me!
All you need is a little patience. A lot patience actually.

My 5 month old Orange Tabby (Male) likes to Bite, I never heard him Growl, Hiss and rarely puts his ears back. Half the time I think he is playing and is really just nibbling, not biting hard. Other times his bite really hurts but rarely draws blood. I can not go to another room, or level in the house without him following me. He follows me to shower and plays outside while I shower, he jumps into the tub when I’m trying to dry. Sometimes he will even go downstairs to get a toy while I am showering, after I shave and still at the sink he climbs out of the tub and wants to get into the sink. He wakes me up in the morning, sometimes biting me, other times trying to get my hand to scratch behind his ears. It has been decades since I owned a cat or pet of any kind, he is still very young and I think he likes me but at times I do wonder?!?!? I do play with him quite often during the day, I am a disabled vet and adopted him for company. My wife passed away 11 years ago and I live way up in the woods. Quiet, very Quiet! Any suggestions❓❓❓

She's slowly come around.. The first major change came after I gave her a bath, she loved that I cleaned her. Little by little she is changing. She used to bite, but stopped that. I just told her "no". She loves deep tissue massages. She's aloof, which is fine. She's starting to love to play with toys late at night. I think she does this for exercise. For this first 3 years I had her all she'd do is look out the window.

My cat can be so off and on, its like she has mood swings, and she is fixed. So it has nothing to do with that. Some days, she loves the attention of pets and scratches under the chin and behind the ear... then the very next day, she won’t even come near me. Even when she wants food and water. She won’t hide and avoid me entirely, she’ll just keep distance, not sure what brings that on.

  • @d.peters6075
    @d.peters6075 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

My cat does some of these things, and loves to bite the meat of my hand between my thumb and index finger. But this is play for her. Her tail may be whipping back and forth while we do this, but in a second after we stop, she lays on my lap and purrs. I trained her when a kitten to take rough housing because there are small kids in the family. So when they get grabby and rough, she just takes the "whatever, let me know when you're done" bored posture and not the standard, as you mention in the video, aggression and fear.
And I know she's my cat, sleeps on my desk chair next to the bed and reaches out to pat or hold my hand when I sleep. She always jumps on the bed and curls up next to me when I first lay down, giving me a kiss on my nose, maybe a headbutt and some kneading of her feet until I fall asleep with her butt pointed at my face, purring the whole time. During the day, she jumps on my lap, lays on m keyboard, licks my nose, kneads my belly, sleeps at my feet under the desk and climbs in my pants/underwear when I am on the toilet. WHY the last one, I have absolutely no idea, but it is funny as hell. Unless she's in a deep, deep sleep, if I move anywhere in the house, she's at my feet within a few seconds, if she doesn't beat me to where I'm going.
And she's my 3rd cat. My Middy lasted 19 years. Ozzie was only about 3, but we could not keep him in the house for the life of him. He was a rescue and had a drive to be outside at dark and would do everything he could to get out including sneaking in-between both doors and just waiting how ever long was necessary to have that outside door opened and he was gone in a flash waiting on the deck railing by 0500 the next morning wanting in. He got locked into a neighbor's garage when they left for the weekend and got into their rat killer they spread before they left. With nothing to eat for several days, he did the unmentionable and they found him when they got home and brought him to us all apologetic. What a waste, what a loss. And Annie is also a rescue but I got her at age 8-10 weeks and like Middy, has never known the outside.
ALWAYS GO WITH A RESCUE! They are so precious and so deserving of a forever home! Between dogs and cats, we are now up to 4 rescues and there has never been a bad one in the bunch.
So some of the "negative" activity you mention is not always aggression or fear as you mention. You need to look at the entirety of their actions.

I somehow trained our late kitty, Morris, to growl to say "stop that". What's weird is that the training involved plain English. the first time he gave me no warning when he bit me, I scolded him telling him to tell me to stop if he doesn't like it. strange, but it worked. if I did anything he didn't like, he'd growl, and I'd stop. He was a mama's boy, so I knew he didn't hate me- but sometimes I can be annoying, and it's a simple way to let me know to stop.
My youngest kitty, Maxine, somehow adopted this means of communication. she doesn't like her toes tickled, so if you tickle her toes, she goes through a series of warnings- first vocalization, then growling, and if you still haven't stopped, then she'd hit you. I kept ticking her toes and learned the hard way that I was ignoring her warnings and got smacked in the face. My husband went into defensive mode- he only saw that she gave me a good swat and I said "ow" I had to stop him and told him that I deserved it. she told me to stop, and I didn't stop- so I got what was coming to me.
Deja, my eldest, doesn't like to hurt people, and will often just avoid annoying people, or she will vocalize her discontent. she will give me little bites, hard enough to say stop it, but light enough not to draw blood if I annoy her too much (like rubbing her belly) otherwise, her "biting and clawing" behavior is strictly playful, as she enjoys some good rough play every now and then- be it with me, or with Maxine.
