I wouldn't have paid $32K for that. I would have gotten a refund and make them take the car back at their expense. You should have gotten a freight forwarder from the beginning. On big ticket items they can help arrange a third-party inspection before it is loaded on the boat. Also, you could have had them show you the VIN of the item you are getting and then show it through the shipping process with video updates. The last big ticket item I imported was an industrial laser cutter and they sent me video to prove it was working properly and they showed video of it going into the crate and loaded on the truck. There are many things you should have done. If you contact a freight forwarder who is experienced in shipping cars then they would have been a big help.
Hindsight... Hopefully he learned from this. Doubtless, is it were you who ordered it, it wouldn't have left their country

@@BrainHurricanes No, since the top speed is controlled in the motor controller, not the motor itself. My guess is it's probably just a regular series wound DC motor, like in a golf cart. Too cheap for 3 phase AC. ;-)

A guy on another channel, I can't remember which, intentionally bought the same model. He turned it into an ultra-light duty off-road cart. It looked pretty good for what it is. Why can I now see you doing something like that , but for speed.
There's a two wire connector on most Chinese 3 phase controllers, that when momentarily shorted after powering up, reverses the direction of rotation, without changing the motor wiring configuration.
Maybe it's the cable he connects at the start of the video, that was unplugged?

The local dealership kept building walls as to why I wanted 16 custom optional extras, instead of a bog standard E220 (no napa leather heated seats, no sunroof, no larger engine, no air-con,no sat-navy, no optional wheels etc etc..) Mercedes sitting in their compound ready to go. I was in the executive travel business and had got a new very prestigious contract. I wanted a car that would befit its duties. I lost a lot of time ( it was then November '99) trying to convince the local dealership what my vision was, so eventually they said they would have the car imported to Ireland March 2000 but maybe half the optional extras included.. 😮😯😟😥. At this moment I felt like you did Bro, when you saw what was delivered to you from China. In Ireland back then, the Customs vehicle registration office would reserve numbers 1-250 (please correct if memory serves me wrong) for a fee. If more than one person wanted the same number ( eg if you wanted to buy your patient wife 😂 a new car for the upcoming year for her 22nd 😉 birthday, you requested to the Customs office to reserve no. 22 so the number plate on her car would end in 22, example would be because it would be the millennium plates 00-G-22 = Year, County = Galway + number 22). I had requested to the Customs office to reserve number 1 which was very fitting as my new contract was for the Galway City Mayors Office. I then found out there was several other people requesting the same prestigious number. It then goes to a lottery 😟. With no certainty in mind as I had no control of the lottery, I took it into my own hands to source my customised Mercedes. It was about mid November 1999, like youself, I was still up @2am when I sent of a spate of emails to several dealerships in Ireland, UK & Scotland, explaining my vision, circumstances, and hopes for some heavenly intersesion assisting with at least half my requested customisations. Unlike yours it didn't come in a shipping box, but when I saw her being driven down the ships ramp for the 1st time, the black metallic paint glistening in the moon light. So, Never take no for an answer, often others can't comprehend your vision, + dealing with reputable "outside the box thinking" businesses can surpass your expectations. I found a wildfire 3 wheeler truck I bought from a friend and was so small I took out the seatback to give me some more room. I also was wearing flip flops one day and slipped when getting in and cut my foot open because of the bare exposed sharp metal around the pedals .

Revisiting this video. It's crazy how these tiny Chinese cars are getting so popular among TH-camrs now.. Those Chang-li trucks seems to get better and better every year.
It probably has speed limiting in the "reverse" gear, so when it thinks it's going in reverse (even though it moves forwards) it won't go faster than a set speed.
When I was a young man, the dealer loaned me a car that was I couldn’t drive safely. My Dad complained they almost killed my boy! Some cars are deathtraps to be avoided at all costs. I wouldn’t drive this bread loaf car for all the tea in China.

The E-Rickshaws in India have these motor and controller. The sound is similar too, and house lead acid batteries. They are also imported from China here. So I reckon, some E-Rickshaw manufacturer made this too.
That chassis looks exactly like the smart car powered by a combustion engine that sold here in the UK over 15 odd years ago. Although the wheels look much smaller then the smart car whose engine sat in the rear and had a top speed of about 50mph.
