  • Kyle and Tijmen are in Dallas to conduct the first independent review of the Kandi K27. Before they started filming the reviews, they had to take it for a drive to shake it down! This is the initial drive where they experience the Kandi for the first time.

One of the things I like about your reviews is that you don’t speak disparagingly about something just because of price point or budget. I’ve seen plenty of snobby reviews about other inexpensive cars but you always have an open mind and are willing to test and review as it is. This car has its own purpose and function and it was nice to hear you being enthusiastic and intrigued by it. It’s right to acknowledge the flaws but not simply write it off because it’s cheap and functional.

You will never even see specs that it contains aitrbags for all, Can see that may not have 5mile bumpers, not crash tested w crumple zones and break away steering, rollover. These cars are legally brought in due to LIMITED nos.and are exempt. Also there is a problem w repair and warranty if you are not close to dealer and have to wait for parts. @Spike Elwood still, most solar panels have a 25 year warranty on performance and will likely last 50, 75, even 100 years. For the energy and materials invested, solar is one of the best returns. Infinitely better than fossil fuels, but still not as sustainable as an agrarian society or hunter gatherers. But we have to be practical with what we have and where people are at. Solar solves a lot of problems. In my state, south Australia, we have at times had our grid, mainly rooftop solar, on 100% on renewables, but generally it's around 60%. A few countries have it up to 100%. It definitely CAN be done if the political and social will is there for change. Still, my comment was about rooftop solar on a single home. If a person gets their own panels, they can charge their own car up in the day time for free. It's pretty sweet when you think about it.

If you think about your big players they got to come way down to get into this market. they built from the top down these guys are building from the bottom up and they could still go even lower even more efficient. Why because they've spent years doing just that.. instead of making a vehicle that has a few hundred horsepower unneeded and a 500 Mile charge. The average American, look it up for yourself, commutes about 32 miles a day tops on average. that means I would buy one of these cars to have around because it's so freaking affordable and if I want to go any serious distance I will rent a car. And really this is just you know they're starter generation type of car. The ride sharing in this would be unbelievable in the cities cost a person $2 a mile or something maybe a dollar a mile

I think the obvious market for a car like this is a second car in a multi-car household, where the other car is either a long-range EV or an ICE. Lots and lots of families have multiple cars, but very few families need multiple cars capable of long-distance road trips.
That said, I would still be interested to know: does the Kandi have a CCS port and, if so, what charging speeds does it get on it? Even if this thing isn't going on road trips, it still matters if you want to drive it to the other end of a large, sprawling city, where the round trip might be just a tad bit beyond the vehicle's range. Obviously, for the price, 250kW is probably not reasonable, but even 30-50kW CCS is still much better than J-1772 only.

Hyundai Konas start from 23k euros. I won't even mention EVs because they are price-tagged like Jack Grealish, they are a pain in the arse to drive on Albanian roads (most of which have not been taken care of in years) and all the EV chargers are in Tirana which means that you can't really take a long journey to a city like kinda north or kinda south my country and back in one go, even though it's relatively small. MSRP on a 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage is $11,632. Without your tax incentive, that golf cart is $17,500.00 At over 17k, (especially coming straight out of China) that should have been one suhweet ride. All I hear is that it seems to be satisfactory car.

For our usual driving in Chicago and it’s inner ring suburbs this would work fine. Currently we still have our 2014 i3 that does that task for us. We use up to 30 miles of range in a normal day (usually closer to 10-15) and charge for hours of time on an L2 at home. Our Tesla Model 3 gets about the same during non-pandemic use but it actually road trip worthy with the existing charging infrastructure.

Looks like this car satisfies most of my driving needs. I wonder about performance in the winter though.

I own an electric spark and a bolt. In Dallas you will need a heater, that draws a whole lot more than the A/C and will put a dent in your range.
There are a bunch of lease return electric sparks with around 30k miles for around $8000 in our area. The spark will climb a mountain grade at 80+mph.
Gas in our area is $4.29 a gallon for regular making electric more economic to drive. The Bolt has a range of over 200 miles and charges quickly. Our spark charges at 3kw-h/hr which is pretty slow.
Electric cars are fun to drive.
