    I feel like Tears is the Directors Cut of a beloved movie. It's the version they wanted to show to theatres but couldn't because of limitations at the time. It has its haters but I think time will be kind to it.

      I'm a fan of most of the ideas in Tears, although I feel like the execution of them wasn't the best. They fixed a lot of stuff from BotW that makes the experience more enjoyable, but they also didn't change a lot of stuff that then drags down the overall experience (see the Ceave Perspective video). The one thing that TotK absolutely messes up in every way and will never age better with time is the story. The memories worked in BotW because there were no spoilers. Zelda fails and Ganon is revived. All that they do is add context and the emotions of people who went through it. In Tears, the memories offer huge spoilers (Dragonification, fake Zelda, Sonia's death), and watching them out of order completely ruins the experience. Then there's the fact that Ganondorf has no impact on the present and sits on his weird tree-throne thing until you go down there to deal with him instead of ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING. I would love for something as simple as gloom hands/Phantom Ganon to appear around you like stal enemies rather than in set locations with some message from Ganondorf like "you cannot run from me, hero" to add some ACTIVE role to him rather than all of his actions being in the past.
      Also all of the sheikah tech disappearing is stupid. Give us an explanation rather than "It disappeared and nobody gives a shit," and at least on Gloom infected guardian in the depths. Imagine being told that all of the tech is gone, and you're exploring the depths in total darkness, and out from the shadows you see the red targeting laser locked on to you.

    BotW is the best game I have ever played. At least it was before TotK. I just did my second TotK run and am now playing my third one. And it is wild what they achieved with this game. The caves alone make TotK superior to me.
    BotW is a revolutionary game and it certainly is one for the ages.
    If we talk about impact BotW surely had the bigger one and TotK certainly stands on its shoulders. But TotK's creativity, variety, mechanics and exploration makes it an easy contender for goat imo. My personal one at that.
    It is a Galaxy 1 / 2 situation. Totally understandable that folks like Galaxy 1 more but Galaxy 2 is just on another level gameplay wise.
    Top 5 Zelda ranking:
    1. TotK
    2. BotW

    • @Cobalt957
      @Cobalt957 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Getting rid of guardians makes sense storywise (as the chatter above me pointed out) and also gameplay wise.
      Botw focuses on exploring the world and its overall pretty calm, so hearing anxiety enducing piano keys with a laser pointing at you is a perfect addition to the gameplay. Those moments always remind you that Ganon is still around and terrorized every part of hyrule and those stressed out moments are a perfect contrast to the regular gameplay, which keeps it interesting.
      In totk the focus lies in creativit and taking time with it. Botw also lets you make use of creativity but those ways are different. In botw you make use of the environment and you try to figure out, on how to get to certain points or how you can get an advantage on monstet hide outs. In totk you are building constructions and try to figure out on how to make em work. And using them is part of the fun. Guardians would ruin a lot of the aspects which make it so great

Its just sad knowing despite how much I love it, It could have been so much better. I still go back to play TOTK every now and then, but I have no interest in starting a new playthrough because the main reason I go back is to build some battle mech or something to obliterate Bokoblins. I still for sure think the Great Plateau is better as a tutorial area compared to the Great Sky Island. So...Yeah, I think your video sums up the situation perfectly. I feel like it made botw's problems worse. Like the legacy dlc items all being scattered throughout the depths out in the open in chests... like that was the biggest rewards in the depths. When I went back to Botw it felt different exploring because its the map I first experienced. Totk has the same map and packs in a lot more content. In myyyyy opinion like my personal experience that new content got repetitive and boring sort of quickly. And i gotta say, i got very bored with BotW revisiting it after Tears of the Kingdom. I dont think Breath of the Wild is bad at all, its still a great game...But everything TotK does just, its more up my alley. I actually felt a reason to explore in TotK where in BotW, i just got disappointed i was met with empty grassy plains or korok poo. I think BotW nails that feeling of isolation and being alone, but i dont think TotK was going for that due to its themes of rebuilding and working together. I like the additions of caves, meaningful side content that wasnt just give the NPC 40 bundles of wood and 3000 rupees...BotW unfortunately didnt have those quests. It did have Typhlo which was great and the defected Yiga member in Kakariko which i liked, but those quests were plentiful in TotK but few and far between in BotW

    I don’t mean to sound antagonistic or whatever, but I genuinely don’t understand why anybody likes TOTK over BOTW at all. If you like it that’s cool, awesome even. But every argument I’ve seen of people saying how much better TOTK is only purely subjective. “Oh it’s better cause it’s MORE FREE and they doubled down on almost every aspect pertaining to such”. Well… does that really make it better? Personally I don’t know.

      @SnesM3ss  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Well, to me at least, I found myself enjoying TotK's major game play cycles much more than BotW's.
      For example, in BotW, the major systems included Shrines & Towers, hearts & stamina, as well as durability. And the minor systems included food, armor & weapons, and memories.
      There are two systems that compliment each other. By collecting more resources and completing shrines, you gain power that you can then use to take down stronger enemies and obtain more powerful weapons. This is all fine and dandy, but one glaring issue that arises is that, outside of the weapons they hold and their drop's use in upgrading armor, engaging in combat provides little to no incentives.
      However, in Tears, the major systems are once again Shrines, vitality, and durability. But, there are far more minor systems to compliment the much larger ones. Not only do you have resource gathering & cooking, obtaining gear, memories, but also the Lightroots, zonaite, battery cells, fusing, and zonai capsules.
      All of a sudden, there are three major incentives: Upgrading your hearts & stamina, upgrading your battery cells, and collecting more powerful weapons.
      The amount of positive feedback in the gameplay systems present in Tears far outweigh the ones in BotW. This isn't to say that BotW did them worse, just that TotK was able to benefit from BotW's success and build upon them.
      So, to answer your question, I like TotK better because there are far more systems at play that kept me hooked and engaged for longer. Also, backpack Koroks are adorable.

But otherwise there's not much reason to collect anything other than weapons and shields unless I need rupees (which you can easily get by just selling gems) it felt a lot like a walking simulator with some fight scenes but with teleportation it's a walking simulator without walking
