Wish THEY HAD given us Rauru as a companion. Then it would have made the areas where we play as zeld would have lace more impact - he could comment about how he felt during those times in the past
Huge missed opportunity for him to interact with his Sister. Could have a been a major emotional scene where he realizes she ended up dying even after his sacrifice.
eh, i disagree. i like how lonely the games feel. theres a certain feel to these games compared to other zelda games and i really appreciate that. i do miss companions for sure, maybe it would help the story at times. but i also really really like the atmosphere we have from link being alone.
What if the Sacred stones slowly changed you into a dragon the more you use them, and eating one merely sped up the process? This could add to why Sonia doesn’t look like the average Hylian.
I personally thought that the triforce is what brought Zelda back. Rauru the Powerful, Sonia the Wise, and Link the Courageous. Link’s will was so strong it brought Zelda back without him even needing to utter a word.
Imo having Ganondorf saying he remembers shards from history, i.e. conquering Hyrule, allying with shadow beings and failing etc. Furthermore, he cannot explain these fragments of memory as they describe historical facts from millenia ago. This would hint at the cycle of rebirth starting with Demise's curse
The cycle of Saṃsāra is what the curse of the demon tribe describes in Japanese, it's not a prescriptive curse that was created by Demise during his final moments but more just something that an evil being can inflict upon themselves if their mind is filled with hate, greed and ignorance/delusion(the three Buddhist poisons).
I would love to one day get zelda game where its about link and zelda learning that them and ganon are trapped in an endless cycle of reincarnation and the main quest of the game is them trying to figure out a way to break demise curse i think a game like that would be a great way to end the game series
@@james656-k8e Demise and Ghirahim and other demon tribe villains like Ganondorf(who like Demise is also aware of how the state of demons and how the cycle of Saṃsāra works as shown in TP, OOT, TOTK and TWW, he just doesn't want it to end for himself) don't like to fight obstacles to their evil ambitions, they don't want to end the cycle of Saṃsāra for themselves since they refuse to abandon their attachments to the world(their dark magic, their power, their ambitions, their greed, their selfishness, their ego, their entitlement, their negative emotions, negative desires, negative thoughts). If they are beaten they will always desire to return(in Demise's case he knew he was defeated for good but said that evil won't end with him because of the nature of Saṃsāra. In Ganondorf's case in TWW during his final moments he felt no remorse or regret for any of his actions(only regret for actions that specifically lead to his defeat), he was just very tired and knew that his last chance to get the Triforce was taken from him so he seemingly accepted defeat while still attached to Saṃsāra because of hate, ignorance and greed like his refusal to let go of the past and his completely selfish, and entitled desires. He was still an unrepentant evil ruler who never cared about anyone other than himself and violent sociopaths like him). The curse is not just Demise's, it's the tribe he belongs to. Only the demon tribe and anyone evil enough to become a part of the demon tribe is cursed(because of themselves), the powerful demons like the demon kings are the ones who are cursed the most because they all are pure embodiments/incarnations/manifestations/personifications of hate, greed, ignorance/delusion and the darkness of the original demon world/hell and the demon tribe. Demise's remaining thoughts/essence decayed inside the Master sword and got destroyed by a Triforce wish, he is unable to reincarnate but his characteristics can manifest/incarnate which is why his successors(Ganondorf and Malladus) whose actions echo his actions resemble him. Demise says(when he initiates his duel with Link) that the demon tribe hated the gods' tribe, the hatred, greed and ignorance of the demon tribe is what makes the demon tribe cursed and anyone who defies the demon tribe will like the gods' tribe become bound to the hatred of the demon tribe(bloodline and spirit will be bound to it) because of attachements to the world that they tried to protect from the demon tribe and evil in general. The hatred towards the gods in Buddhism is the hatred of demons and the hatred of Saṃsāra. The curse as I said in my previous comment is a descriptive curse, not a prescriptive curse. It's the concept of evil always existing no matter what happens because jealousy exists where there is something to desire and hunger for power will exist where there is jealousy and hunger/lust means that negative feelings and desires will exisr, no matter how many times evil is overcome by good it will always return. Evil and good are both intrinsic to the universe and one cannot exist without the other. The only way to leave Saṃsāra is to attain Nirvana which means abandoning any attachments to the world and stop becoming a part of existence(a demon king won't do this because of an all consuming addiction that they will refuse to give up on and this means eternal attachment to Saṃsāra). A Triforce wish can theoretically end the curse of the demon tribe but it is also one of the wishes that is extremely unlikely to be fullfilled because the Triforce is something to be desired and the thing that keeps Hyrule's world from falling apart, force energy(Triforce is known as the Master force and the True force that governs all, force is both life force and energy manifested from positive feelings, thoughts and desires) is part of every lifeform and kami(god/spirit), anyone is capable of having negative emotions, desires and thoughts meaning there will always be more people who can turn themselves into demons and there is the fact that a Triforce wish won't be fullfilled if it's master dies according to ALTTP/TOTG.

@@james656-k8e There is no curse to break because it's not a magical curse, it's a descriptive curse that evil beings inflict upon themselves, the curse of the demon tribe in Japanese. Ganondorf is aware of it in TP and other games but he doesn't want his cycle of Saṃsāra to end because he absolutely refuses to abandon his addiction, his powerhunger, his greed, selfishness, ego, entitlement and ambition. Ghirahim is aware of it and also wants the cycle of Saṃsāra for the demon tribe's obstacles to end. Ganondorf benefits from the existence of Saṃsāra as he can always return to get revenge and try again until he finally gets the demon world of war, violence, greed, destructive power and darkness that he desires(and keep it for eternity and rule over it) and he can keep bringing back dead demons and evil spirits for an unending supply of soldiers and servants. Link and Zelda, the gods' tribe and other enemies of evil and the demon tribe won't let evil win and corrupt the world they love and try to protect and that means attachment to the world and a cycle of Saṃsāra. Because they keep defying evil evil will always be bound to them. Where there is something to desire there will also be jealousy and jealousy means greed, hunger and lust which means negative emotions. Good cannot exist without evil and evil cannot exist without good, no matter how many times evil is overcome it will always return and no matter how many times evil overcomes good good will always return, evil and good will always exist no matter what happens as they are intrinsically part of the entire universe. Demise's characteristics manifest/incarnate as people who resemble him but some of them are even more evil than he was, anyone who has the same amount of malice in their hearts and dark magical power can become another demon king, a successor of the original demon king of Hyrule's world if they so desire. A demon king is a pure embodiment/manifestation/personification/incarnation of the hatred towards the gods/hatred of Saṃsāra/hatred of the demon tribe, greed and ignorance/delusion and cannot reach enlightenment and Nirvana because they are incapable of seeing and accepting the world and reality for what it truly is. Malladus and Ganondorf are both demon kings that existed at the same time during the events of TWW and both resemble each other and their predecessors. Lesser embodiments of the three poisons also exist like Vaati, Bellum and Majora whose titles are majin(demon god/devil). The Triforce can theoretically end the curse of the demon tribe but it is also one of those wishes that is extremely unlikely to be fullfilled because Triforce wishes are often practical and a wish can't be fullfilled if the Triforce's master dies according to ALTTP/TOTG. The Triforce is also the Master force/True force that governs all and force is both life force within all lifeforms and energy manifested from positive emotions, thoughts and desires which is the opposite of evil energy. Anyone is capable of having negative and positive emotions, thoughts and desires so anyone can become a god/spirit(kami) or a demon if their will and power is strong enough. Even if you get rid of all currently existing demons and evils there will always be more in the future. Getting rid of the obstacles to the demon tribe will only result in evil winning and ruling for eternity in an age of darkness.
@@SwaggMasta0 I'm not done with the video yet but at 5:45, what if we say that BOTW and TOTK take place *before* the other games? After Skyward Sword, but before most of the mainline entries. I think that makes a lot more sense, and Rauru being the first king can actually be explained in this context
So many things to say here: 1. Good job on the theme. Ganondorf's harsh judgement of Rauru's rule was the most interesting part of the game for me. 2. Mechanically, Nintendo still could have achieved open world, by having memories work more like a progress bar than a jigsaw puzzle. You can trigger memories across different places, but they always pick up where the last left off... It's such a simple solution thatd allow for your great story + the open world nintendo's been obsessed with. 3. We crave being part of the story instead of just witnessing it, and your ideas highlight that. Great work as always, friend.
Your proposal about the geoglyph visions wouldn’t have worked because each memory is related to the figure it depicts and they’re all placed where they make sense geographically for the most part. You can get the order and locations of the memories early enough that it shouldn’t be an issue.
@@LinkMountaineer let me give you an example then: imagine instead of geoglyphs mapped to a specific memory, we find keys instead of geoglyphs. these keys are used to progress through some long hallway (say in the forgotten temple) and that hallway consists of a series of rooms that each contain a memory in order. so the high level idea stands
pretty sure zelda was the sage of time in oot too. don't think it was ever stated outright, but she was referred to as a sage, and the ocarina of time was originally hers, along with the temple of time being so close to hyrule castle. honestly, it had been a headcanon of mine ever since i first played it.
Or don’t have time travel shenanigans at all. Just have Link and Zelda together the whole game like with Spirit Tracks instead of this retconned and copy-pasted from BotW past nonsense.
My only issue is the continuity with the Guardian stalker in the past and the yiga: The yiga were only formed after the Royal family expelled the sheikah, after the guardians and divine beasts had first been used to seal calamity Ganon. Absolutely amazing video though, really wish Nintendo had put some more effort into the story
Yeah if the yiga were to appear this early, it would need to be a small group of traitorous sheikah, who infiltrated raurus camp and fed information to him. Ideally the traitor would be an established character though, instead of random guys. They wouldn’t be yiga yet, but could maybe be the progenitors of a rouge group.
@@SwaggMasta0My Idea With or without the master sword link should not been Overwhelmed so easily Considering the fact that ganondorf was in a extremely weakened state... If Ganondorf was at full power at the beginning.. Then it would be different. For example and the beginning of the game link to Overwhlem mummy ganondorf..But Ganondorf Transforms into His original self.. The two warriors clash Resulting in a stalemate..Link is Crippled and Ganondorf is Greatly weakened and Revert To His Mummy Self.. Ganondorf Look Forward To His Rematch With Link. Honestly a clash resulting in both parties being greatly weakened would actually be excellent.. As a Result of Link Fighting Prowess, Tears of the kingdom Ganondorf Knows How much Of a worthy adversary Link Is. In a matter of fact based on Ganondorf philosophy I Feel Ganondorf Would avoid hindering links recovery So that he would fight link at his most powerful... Despite being opposing sides I feel ganondorf would be greatly pleased That a Mortal Man is So Powerful... Ganondorf Knows Link Fight for The Simplistic but Relatable reasons... While he knows link is a hero he knows that he's simply fighting for the woman he love. Basically he respects link because he has the resolve and strength to Achieve his goals Ganondorf Was also impressed that link was able to fight him to a stalemate In their first encounter despite Zelda Being a Hinderence, He Believed link had a good possibility Of Outright Defeating Him If Link Was Not Worried About Zelda Safety.
My perfect vision for that twist would be getting to restore Zelda with Impa and just making it a major part of the game instead of ghost Rauru and Sonia doing magic stuff. Zelda would lose a part of herself, imagine her waking up and saying "Who are you?" Saving her life at the cost of her memories, could be even better for her, kinda like how Link's personality changed after losing his memories. He was happier and more innocent, could go back to the burden of being Hylia's descendant, and giving her freedom from all that.
@@salk9943 Link’s Awakening was a side game outside the series main conventions and was literally all a dream. Majora’s Mask had literally no sacrifices since you could turn back time at any point and nothing was lost at the true ending. The only one of the three I’ll give you is Twilight Princess.
53:07 This has actually happened TWICE in the series so far. The first time was way back in the NES days, where Link and Zelda kiss in the ending of Zelda II (though the kiss happens behind a curtain). The second time was in the ending of a linked Oracles game, where Zelda kisses Link on the cheek.
I personally love the idea of Mineru being your companion through this game through the Purah Pad. She could serve the role on how best to operate Zonai Devices, give lore on the various old Zonai settlements, and give her thoughts on modern Hyrule.
Re-hauling the TOTK story like this is a pretty cool idea. However, I personally didn't have nearly as many problems with the story as most people did. I think there are definitely some things you can adjust while still keeping the original story intact. Such as: Make sure the dragon tear memories play in chronological order regardless of the sequence you find them in. Make it so that you can only see Zelda undergoing draconification once you've completed Crisis at Hyrule Castle. If you find the Light Dragon and draw the Master Sword prior to this, there's an implication Zelda is the dragon, but there's enough reasonable doubt (fixes Link not warning the others if he gets the Master Sword early). Give each Sage's speech more variety. Specifically explain how Ganondorf's siege affected their respective domains. The Gerudo Sage can also give more context and background on Ganondorf's origin. As for reversing Zelda's draconification and restoring Link's arm, this is a bit more tricky. I am OK with the idea of draconfication being permanent. But if Zelda and Link HAVE to return to normal, maybe have Rauru or Mineru explain that when all Secret Stones are united, they can unleash a great deal of power or magic. So rather than completely destroying Ganondorf's stone, Link recovers it in the fight and everyone combines their stones to undo everything. Or just not state outright draconification can't be reversed.
@trixxy9566 technically not dead, since you're still using his arm. But the idea would be to have him stick around more like a companion character, which would make a little more sense than him just disappearing for no reason before reappearing with Sonia for no reason.
Okay, this is awesome but I don't really like the draconification exposition dump in story #3. The only part of the original story that worked was Zelda piecing together what she needed to do. Your revision takes away what little subtlety that moment had. Also, I don't think we need the fanfic-y engagement line from Zelda lol. The tale Sonia tells about Hylia and the ancient hero worked fine to establish the romantic bond Zelda and Link share imo
I agree with most of your criticisms you listed at the start, but the master sword breaking doesnt really bother me. I mean the lore surrounding it has never been super consistent to begin with, and other games have similar things happen that make no sense. For example in wind waker, the master sword requires prayers from the earth and wind sages in order to maintain its power, which is just not how it works in any other game, and in no other game do we see it power down like it does in that game. Plus, if the sword is able to be physically tempered by regular blacksmiths like in ALTTP and ALBW, I dont see why it cant also break. Regardless of how it is reshaped, it always reverts to how it normally appears and acts
Not to mention, Ganondorf knew he would have this kind of threat. He was warned. And the game established pretty quickly that one of the first things Ganondorf did was decay nearly every weapon in hyrule. It feels intentionally prepared to nullify any "Blade that seals the darkness". He simply weakened an already low charge master sword and thus left it vunerable to be broken. Its such an impactful moment that shows his strength and planning.
@alphathewolf583 that is also true. He was actually prepared to be faced with the master sword and so he made sure to deal with it. In most other games, he is either completely unaware of or severely underestimates the power of the Master Sword, so he never even attempts to break it. And the one other game he did try to do something about it, Wind Waker, he succeeded. If he isn't deliberately attacking the Master Sword itself, he won't break it, but if he is, he can, or he can at least weaken it.
Logically, it's completely sound, too. The "rust" and damage on the blade in Breath of the Wild is stated to be Malice. The secret stones enhance their users' inherent powers, Ganondorf's being Malice, meaning Gloom is just a strengthened Malice. If Malice can cause visible damage to the Master Sword already, there's no reason Gloom wouldn't be able to destroy it entirely.
@mercury2157 That's also a good point. And I mean, it's not like in it breaking it loses it's ability to repel evil. Even after it's shattered, the smallest piece of the sword is able to wound Ganondorf, and if ultimately, regardless of what happens to it, the sword regenerates itself / reverts back to how it was originally shaped, I don't really see it as a huge deal
I was on the edge of my seat and almost yelling at the monitor, 'What's next? Tell me more!' for 56 minutes HAHA Although I know Sonia's lines, watching the final product was such an experience. Thank you for letting me be a part of this video, Swaggmasta! It was such a fun experience, and I'm honored to be a part of it 💜
Gotta be honest I love these changes so much. Going in, I really thought playable Zelda was happening in TotK. Love the effort that was put into this one man, keep it up!
The problem with removing the destruction of the master sword is that it removes part of the original emotional weight of Zelda sacrificing herself via turning into a dragon and establishing this Ganondorf as a true threat because the point is that NOBODY ever expected it to be possible to just shatter the Master Sword.
Regarding the retcons, I wanna give some of my own thoughts as to why they don't matter to me The Master Sword shattering shows how strong Ganondorf has become over the last several tens of thousands of years. He's been building up all this time. His gloom has become so strong it's literally leaking out from his body. Maybe it was a little weird for the Master Sword to break, but keep in mind that that gloom is pure concentrated evil that's been building and building. I completely respect this opinion though and I can absolutely see why you'd dislike that choice. Wind Waker is definitely an example of it being done better. Your Ganondorf argument mostly just feels like semantics. It's very obvious that he's not Ocarina of Time Ganondorf. And you've seemed to have forgotten that we ALREADY got a brand new Ganondorf in Four Swords Adventures. This is the 3rd Ganondorf. It's not unprecedented. I do agree that they should've established that Rauru refounded Hyrule. It would've been incredibly easy to throw in a line about a kingdom recently being destroyed and that the Zonai helped rebuild it. And he's the first king of this new era. So fair points, but also some weak points. I had more of an issue with the presentation than these supposed "retcons"
Regarding the actual changes to the story, I'm only about halfway through the video, but most stuff feels out of place or like filler. I'll have to keep watching to see your explanations for some of the things, but: I'm assuming showing thr young Zelda is simply to show Zelda's ancestor. The actual game does not show or imply offspring of Rauru and Sonia, but it must be the case in order for Zelda to exist. These are very simple assumptions that the player can make on their own. Just as Ganondorf being a NEW incarnation is assumed. The player may be confused at first, but can come to their own conclusion about what seems logical. Part of thr spirit of Zelda games is the players engaging with the story in their own ways. If everything is outright shown or told to the player, this is lost. The characters also seem to have a bizarrely in-depth knowledge of the past. Sure they should know specific stuff, but most other Zelda games do not go as hard or into as much detail. It always seems like a lot of the story is lost to time. So Sonia knowing the intricate details of Skyward Sword's story feels off to me. I think the actual game just having Fi speak to Zelda is much more fulfilling, personally. That's not to say that legends of the past do not belong in newer Zelda games. But I don't think the way this video executes it is good. I'm still really enjoying this video though. Even though I've had a lot of criticisms and don't feel the game would've benefitted from all this, it's still fascinating to hear, and there's a lot of cool ideas. You certainly created a thought-provoking story that is quite engaging.
I have now finished the video. I thought some of the choices were really cool! But again, I have some criticisms. The beginning made a big deal about retcons, and went over 2 decisions that weren't even retcons. Then the "fixed" story proceeded to have several retcons within it. The Yiga existing before the calamity... Zelda designing the guardians instead of the Sheikah... Calamity Ganon only returning once... Zelds being able to use the Master Sword (not just hold it)... These are pretty major changes that go far beyond the Master Sword breaking or there being a new Ganondorf. Most of the changes are BOTW related, so maybe if this what-if scenario changes a ton of BOTW lore as well, that could work better. But as it stands, I just found it odd to complain about retcons and then make a bunch in the fix.
What bothers me about Sonia and Rauru founding Hyrule is that characters in BotW reference OoT's events, and the area around the temple of time on the plateau looks a lot like OoT's castle town. I don't see this working. If you want Rauru and Sonia to found a new Hyrule that's fine, but then the people of this new Hyrule should not remember what happened in OoT.
@@sophitiaofhyrule I think it's fine to remember elements of games like Ocarina of Time as they pass through legend. Or perhaps are rediscovered in ancient texts. --The Zora seem to have the greatest understanding of the past due to their long lifespans and appreciation of history. --The Gorons pass down legends of Darunia and even Darmani from Termina. They may not know who they are, but they choose to honor those were were seen as important to Gorons of the past. --Gerudo remember and honor the legend of Nabooru. They want to grow from the mistakes of their past and prove they're better than the evil man who tarnished the name of the Gerudo. These are my interpretations of why they remember those elements of Ocarina of Time, and it may not be satisfying to everyone, but personally, I think it's pretty reasonable. Each race remembers important legends about their ancient history. While there have been thousands of years since that time, they still honor and remember what has been passed down. And it just so happens that the Ocarina of Time sages were remembered very fondly by history. Regarding the Great Plateau, I was definitely a little upset by that at first. But then I found out that there are multiple Temples of Time anyway. The Temple of Time in Twilight Princess is not the same Temple of Time from Ocarina of Time. I think it might make sense that the Hylians would build several Temples of Time over the years. And after Rauru's Temple was lifted into the sky, they built a new one in its place-- based off of the designs of the ones that have come before. I fully understand that people aren't a big fan of these ideas, and I respect that. But to me, it's not enough for me to get confused or upset at the idea of Rauru's refounding.
My biggest complaint with totk is that it feels so separated from botw that it may as well not even be a sequel. Like at least make them feel connected
My understanding is that ToTk started as a BoTW DLC but that they then wanted to add so much stuff it became its own game. So it wasn't really supposed to be a sequel in the beginning, which may explain why some aspects seem a bit unplanned and rushed!
Hmm, so I definitely like this video quite a bit, there's definitely a lot of elements from this story that I think work really well. Giving characters like Sonia more depth, implementing old Zelda concepts in a way that actually work with the story, and of course making the ending not suck are all pretty good things. I agree with just flinging the Master Sword wholesale into the past with Zelda instead of breaking it, and the whole Sacred Flames thing sounds cool. Admittedly, it does come across a bit too fanfic-y, especially with shipping Link and Zelda together so blatantly. They've historically always been "good friends," with the exception of Skyward Sword (but even that one, they never explicitly say they love each other). I'm also not a big fan of "Oh Zelda is the reason the Shiekah became technologically advanced" because now you've introduced a time paradox, and I'm not sure it actually adds to your story at all. The memories are a great idea, and in fact make me wonder if in fact the game would have been better if it was entirely in the past, with you playing as Zelda. I am a little worried that perhaps they'd break up the flow of the game too much; since these are memories, you can't really get anything except knowledge from playing these, so players may get annoyed at what might feel to them as long glorified cutscenes, sort of like the Tears of Light collection sequences in Twilight Princess. However I actually liked those sequences, and I do love a good Metroidbrainia, so it might work. I do really like the idea of being required to get the Triforce to save Zelda, I think that's a great way to bring back something that has been annoyingly missing from BOTW and TotK, and makes reversing Zelda's transformation make sense. However, I do kind of think it should just be something you do before beating Ganondorf. While a post-game sounds cool, it doesn't really make sense since defeating Ganon is supposed to make all the monsters go away. They're creations of his and draw from his own power, so no Ganon means an empty Hyrule. I suppose you could just ignore this and they just continue to exist anyway, but then it now feels like you haven't really saved Hyrule. Finally, I do feel this tries too hard to reference past Zelda games constantly. As a Zelda fan, I do personally want a story that respects prior Zelda lore a lot more than TotK did. However, at the same time, I don't want the story to feel like it's constant nostalgia-bait. "Oh, do you remember this thing from this Zelda game? Well here it is again!" Perhaps it's simply due to the shorter, more condensed format of this video, but it feels like you're going a bit overboard. At any rate, I wouldn't have Fi actually appear, simply having the voice is enough, and cut down on a few of the lines that are just taken from prior Zeldas. But yeah, sorry if this comment sounds negative, this was a really good video! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I hope you do more, and perhaps tackle the modern section of the story, as that really isn't touched on too much in this one.
Nintendo literally just released on their Japanese website "to all the heroes who received Princess Zelda's feelings" and one of the tracks on the soundtrack is called "Zelda's feelings in my hands" on the Japanese soundtrack listing. Along with the latest issue of Nintendo Dream in Japan, when talking about the upcoming figures, saying that Link's smiling face should be directed at Zelda. There was also these lines in the Japanese version: なんとしてもゼルダ姫の想いに応えなければ I have to live up to her feelings no matter what 彼女の笑顔を もう一度 この目で見たい I want to see her smile just once more with these eyes of my own マイス―イトプリンセス My sweet princess
@@kit76149 oh, interesting, I’m not super familiar with the Japanese translation other than knowing that NOA messed it up pretty badly with BOTW, and looks like they did it again with TotK. Still, I would consider this to be a lot more subtle than what’s proposed here, so not sure how I feel about it regardless.
Zelda outright smooches Link in the cheek before they both _blush_ with little hearts flying from Link's head during the ending of either Linked version of the Oracle games so they definetly haven't always been "just friends" across the series. That said i do agree with many of your ideas regarding the story (not most but still).
I agree with the constant references criticism. I like the smaller, less intrusive forms of references. Have this amount just feels reductive of the story. And thats what adds to this feel kinda fan fictiony at times. If every writer did this shit for their games in the MAIN STORY then it takes away from the identity of the games. TOTK on its own handled it pretty well imo, it has some references and callbacks to OOT but its not intrusive. I also think its okay that Zelda draconification wasn’t permanent and was reversed when it was. I personally think the ending was beautiful, having them fall from the sky while her ancestors brought her back was amazing. Links arm being fully recovered doesn’t make complete sense, i wish he had a scar there or something since he was stated to have almost lost his arm. As for Zelda and Link shipping, having a small kiss at the end would be fine. They definitely have a lot of chemistry this time around so its okay if theres a little bit of romance. But its definitely not necessary or anything
Very minor point, in the grand scheme of things. It’s not like there isn’t a lot of lore rewrites anyway, but I feel like your take on the blood moon is confusing cause and effect. Ganondorf doesn’t gain more power from a blood moon, the blood moon signifies a waxing of Ganondorf’s power. It’s why a blood moon instantly rises when Ganondorf gets the stone. It’s why a blood moon rises at the end of both boss fights, when Ganondorf is flexing his power. Ganondorf’s power is causing the blood moon, not the other way around.
I actually think it’s the other way around. Otherwise Calamity Ganon wouldn’t be able to use it as a boost, since Calamity Ganon is an autonomous being created by Ganondorf’s Malice.
@@HungryWarden I don’t believe he ever uses it as a “boost”. Instead it always appears as Ganon’s power waxes. If it says at some point that the blood moon powers Ganon, I have not seen that.
i think ganon channels his powers through the bloodmoon his powers grow stronger because channeling, and this is why it happens at boss fights and calamity tried to summon one, he was trying to channel enough to revive himself
@@Davidledonkayy if the Calamity can summon a blood mood, doesn’t it make more sense then that the blood moon arises from a waxing of Ganon’s power and not the other way around?
34:26 One thing about this story, the Yiga weren’t founded until after the great calamity when the king grew fearful of the Sheikah abilities and technology. Most respected the kings wishes to banish the technology but some were resentful. The yiga don’t exist this far in the past
@@HungryWarden I think he did well with the new version. He touched on things I hated that were left unanswered (Divine Beasts, Guardians, Shrines and what happened to them) and then made a story that went full circle, mentioned BOTW and what happened along the way 10,000 years ago as well as the Calamity. Nintendo - did none of that.
I honestly think the story has a pretty consistent themes. The issue is that Zelda's story in the past and Link's story in the present have two completely different central themes, and since their stories are told in a jumbled up mess due to the open world, both theme can get lost quite easily. Zelda's story is definitely about self sacrifice to protect those you love. Link's story is a play on the age old "It's dangerous to go alone" trope. Instead of handing you a sword and shoving you off to fight Ganon, the NPCs say, "It's dangerous to go alone, so let's go together."
I liked the changes for the most part. My main issues stem from two things, one is the amount of references to other games as exact repeats of dialogue, Zelda games rarely do that outside of very specific things like titles or easter eggs, and it just feels tacky, same for the very close references like sky-keep, one thing I like about most Zelda games is how they can stand on their own, but having things like Skykeep, I dunno, I'd rather have a secret divine beast or another temple, even having the dungeon be called "Skyloft" could've been better imo. And my other issue is having a post-game, no other 3D Zelda game has had one and it would break some continuity, specially if Ganondorf is indeed dead for good, I know a lot of people have wanted that for the main series, but part of the appeal for me is to keep some of those details as a mystery or a cutscene after the game ends.
This video made me realize how people are way too arrogant and think they can fix something but instead they end up making glorified fan fiction that completely changes the story and the game itself. Instead of changing plot points, order of events and dialogue you should have ADDED what is actually missing, plus around 63% of what you wrote is actully filler that would massivelly drag diallogue and cutscenes, as if you werent even aware that you are writting for a game, the draconification explanation cutscene is the biggest proof of that. Also why are rauru and sonia king and queen if they have yet to marry, why did you make the theories into headcanons (like the identity if the dragons). Bood moons cant happen before he gets a secret stone, creating a champion explicitly says this power comes from a reaction of ganon achieving the peak of his power the blood moon isnt a natural phenomenon, its just that the people percieve it as such because it has been happening in hyrule for a century, because as the book says the blood moon hapens whenenver her sealing power weakens, giving ganon a breach to fully use his power to revive troops. Also yiga should not exist in the past, they only existed because of the calamity of 10.000 years ago as retaliation for the king banishing their technology and raurus time if from more than 10.000 year ago. also you and plenty of people seems to have forgotten the fact that even in botw, the master sword was weakened and totk makes it quite clear in the number one cutscene that the sword grows stronger with the more time it has to rest by absorbing light energy.
Yeah though I would avoid using Creating a champion as gospel unless there is a dev note that doesn't contradict the games same with the new TOTK book that is coming out this year. But yeah the blood moon is implied to have been created by Ganondorf when he got the stone and is implied to have disappeared and reappeared again and again with each appearance of a manifestation of Ganondorf's desires and emotions after he was sealed away as the dialogue from the blood moon npc at the dueling peaks stable implies. Some stuff in the video like information from the books and manga is also not fact because some of it contradicts the games and the newer games always contradict the book and manga information that isn't literally stated in the older games. Both the book writers and devs think that the books should be treated lightly and with an open mind subject to change. Some of the information from the books could possibly be true but could also possibly not be true. Creating a champion has a lot of ideas that gives insight into what the devs were thinking but not all of it is in BOTW itself and some of it has changed in TOTK and HW:AOC. A lot of Creating a champion is written from the perspective of in-game historians who are not fully accurate sources as not all of them were alive during the BOTW calamity and some are using fairy tales and legends. In the games there is a bit of evidence that suggests that Sheikah and Zonai had access to magic and technology that allowed them to peer into other worlds so it's also possible that stories from the other worlds were brought into the BOTW/TOTK world and details getting mixed into other stories until there are multiple contradicting stories of Hyrule's history with only some details being true to the BOTW/TOTK world/timeline branch. I think continuing the Demise Hylia plot was mistake in the video because that plot already ended in Skyward sword where Demise’s remaining thoughts decay into nothingness within the Master sword, a Triforce wish destroys him and his final words in Japanese is about a descriptive curse and not a prescriptive curse, he is not coming back through reincarnation and no one can get his memories but there are manifestations/incarnations of his characteristics who have the same amount of malice in their hearts if not more than he had so Ganondorf is more of a successor who turned himself into a demon king because he desired it and could do it due to his large amount of dark magical power(mostly from a power boost) and Malladus is the same(even existing at the same time as Ganondorf) and all demon kings in the series are pure embodiments/manifestation/incarnations/personifications of the three Buddhist poisons(greed, hate and ignorance/delusion), the demon tribe's and the original demon world's darkness. Someone who embodies greed, hate and ignorance/delusion can remain in the world after death because of attachements to the world unless the soul is fully destroyed and not sealed away.
Exactly. I went into this video with a positive outlook of seeing how people would have their own takes of how the game could be different from their perspective, but the attitude of how this went about sours my opinion.
What if instead of Rauru being a disembodied voice he's a JoJo Stand and when Link extends his arm to use an ability the Rauru ghost pops out and performs it like Midna in TP
@SwaggMasta000 You're selling yourself too short my man, you've got more potential in you to do great things than you may realize. Keep up the hard work and one day, you'll see for yourself!
05:44 My gawd! Thank you! I've always thought this too. The detail about Rauru being the ***first*** king was so superfluous, and the only thing it added to the story was making it inconsistent with the rest of the series lore.
...kinda confused as to when this rewrite is supposed to be set. The Yiga come about after the 10K Calamity with the Ancient Sheikah battling Calamity Ganon. Modern Hyrule Castle already exists and has existed for a long while at that point. Also the Forgotten Temple is not the Sealed Temple.
@@SwaggMasta0 It's part of the tapestry that depicts the Ancient Calamity, and I believe is stated somewhere in game. The only reason they exist is because the King betrayed the Sheikah and banished the tech. The game also states that the Sheikah made the tech primarily to fight Calamity Ganon, so we'd have to assume he already existed before the tech did.
I always thought a cooler premise for totk would be; Link doesn't get knocked down to 3 hearts by Ganondorf's Gloom, instead he is poisoned and loses his arm. When Rauru takes him into the sky and you clear the tutorial island 3 major differences become clear: 1 - Link is slowly dying, you need to cook curative meals to abate Ganon's curse while Purah helps develop treatments. gameplaywise your always fighting to regain Hearts and stamina as they are eaten away. (The Shrine of Resurrection still exists and functions but Link refuses to use it as he doesn't want to sleep while people suffer.) 2 - Hyrule is now made of 2 planes The Sky Islands and The Corrupted Surface. A much more significant portion of the surface is lifted into the Sky including multiple towns, while the surface now resembles The Depths as Ganon's Gloom has terraformed 80% of it. The Sky is more beginner friendly zone while the surface is a hellhole you need to dive into. Gameplay wise Link must work with each respective town/Dragon to clear the surface of Gloom so the town and residents can return to The Surface. 3 - The Sheikah Shrines have returned undergrown but Link can access newly unearthed caves. Inside the caves are a mix of how they are in TotK featuring puzzles found in the Zonai Shrines. The ancient caves appearance is closer to the Zonai ruins found in BotW (i.e. Typhlo, Faron and Forgotten Temple). Since Link isn't collecting orbs to increase hearts/stamina he instead finds Zonai clues to show Purah to work on cures for his illness. Along with the equipment and material you normally find in caves. (This basically removes traditional shrines from the game making them more organic in the world.) Bonus thoughts - At the end of the game Zelda remains a dragon and since Rauru fades away Link's arm returns to being a stump. Zelda fly's away into the distance and Link decides to journey after her (setting up a third game set in a distant unfamiliar land.) In the next game Link would searching for a way to change Zelda back.
This was really fun to watch and I could tell you put so much effort into it. Its cool how you put Sheiks line in there when Sonia was talking to Zelda. The memorys seem like they would be really cool and especially being able to play as Zelda. Good job! 👍
Well, we finally got our playable Zelda. But I still think this game would have really benefited from the memories being an interactive portion where you play as Zelda rather than just watching her.
I’m not convinced Zelda would knowingly create the Guardians that she knows would slaughter her own people in the future. I don’t think it’s necessary to make absolutely everything connect. It’s fine to have the Sheikah develop their technology independently of this particular Zelda. Or if you absolutely must connect them you could simply have (our) Zelda remark that the Zelda she adopted, like her, has a knack for science and technology. Thereby implyiing that it was the child Zelda who would go on to invent the Sheikah tech.
The thing that makes The memories in TOK so bad Is how good in the previous game Handled them with a very obvious Difference between each memory’s part of the story and good character development that could definitely be understood no matter which order you view them in allowing the player to put the story together
I want to clarify something about themes in narrative, because I ALWAYS see the term “theme” used completely wrong. A _theme_ is the narrative’s overarching commentary on mankind or society as a whole, usually (but not always) summed up in a single sentence. For example, Breath of the Wild’s theme (I believe) could be, “No matter the events of the past, it is imperative that we face our fears in the present so that we may look forward in the future.” Just kinda spitballing here cuz idk how much there actually is to support that theme, but for the sake of an example, I think it works. What is described as a “theme” in the early portions of the video (ie. “friendship” and “sacrifice”) are _motifs!_ A motif is a reoccurring idea, symbol, or subject within a narrative that serves to reinforce its theme. Going back to BotW for a sec, the motifs of its narrative would be that of failure, and the passing down of strength through generations. Sorry for the whole tangent, I just see people constantly using these terms wrong and I wanted to say something to hopefully slow the spread of these misconceptions.
Pretty sure in an interview the devs said that the theme was "hands". Sounds boring but in a way it can be interpreted in many ways; literally when catching Zelda at the end not only do we lend our hand to her, we also hear hands clapping during the music. There's also obviously Link's hand, literally being the whole focus of the game's gameplay and I could say story too. Good vid tho
@@sophitiaofhyrulethe theme of hands, while maybe not being as remarkable from a storytelling perspective, definitely is very strongly felt from a gameplay perspective. No matter your opinion on the story, whether it was good or bad, the game’s strong suit excels in tying everything together with it’s gameplay masterfully.
@@springerengineering6697 fair to say that hands are a motif as well too yes but the devs themselves said that hands are a major theme of the game, so I'd personally go with what they said concerning that Edit : Theme is a message that the art is trying to convey us. Yes, hands is a motif as well because of how recurrently they appear throughout the game but I guess they just went with a more "vague" meaning, perhaps the theme is something along "union" or something, but like I said the devs themselves said the major theme was hands
Considering the new Canon timeline of the games Nintendo gave us, BOTW and TOTK are completely seperate from the timeline itself. Which means in a way, the story in itself makes sense, even if some stuff wouldn’t.
I WANT THIS GAME YOU'RE CREATING OMG THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER not having this actually be the game will hurt me physically every time I think about what we could have had
I like the post-game quest idea the most with having to find the Triforce to reverse the draconification. It really made you work for it instead of it being the reward after killing Demon Dragon. But I have to disagree with pulling out the Master Sword from yet another pedestal cuz the cutscene with the Light Dragon was so unique and fresh and went so hard compared to other Zelda games!
Sorry but replacing Tulin as sage of wind is unnecessary. I know you acknowledge as much, but the tonal shift of "I do what I want" in a video where you gave the idea that you were taking this rewrite seriously makes it harder to trust your other choices, because do you REALLY understand the story you're fixing if you think this change is trivial? One of the things Totk does do right is the feeling of time having passed in between the two games. The feeling of a new, grown up hyrule that is slowly working to heal from the calamity, and part of that work to heal and move towards the future is entrusting the next generation. This is why totk is filled with younger characters like Josha alongside the older ones. Think about it. Sidon steps up as king, Riju is the new leader of the Gerudo, Yunobo has to take responsabilty when he gets power over the gorons with Yunobo corp, and Tulin is continuing his father's role by aiding link. It fits with the rest of the storylines and shows how, despite being brought down by the calamity, Hyrule will never fall because over and over again, just like Link and Zelda reincarnate, new generations of warriors will rise to the task of keeping it safe (+ link will never truly be alone even when he returns after long periods of time/reincarnates because there will always be descendants of the champions, of the sages, of his friends, willing to continue the legacy of fighting by his side). Plus, taking Kass out of his role as a travelling musician to put him in a major story event would never work because, unlike Tulin, Kass doesn't have a strong enough plot line or arc that invests you in him or makes him worthy of major focus. If you want him back, bring him back in a role that his character is suited for, which is side quests. Heck, if you want to make him more relevant to the main plot, he could be the one to sing you the song of the stormwind ark. But replacing Tulin with him is kind of stupid.
I am writing my own version of a botw sequel and i want to write ganondorf just as a ganondorf that is tired of the cycle he zelda and like are trapped in so he actively tries to break the cycle by absolutely trumatizing and breaking links soirit so he may not reincarnate and the actual zelda as a puppet to break link further befor planing to kill her.
This first section is exclusively about your breakdown: The theme was growth imo. All of the Sages have to grow, and learn from their mistakes, Zelda has to grow, discover her history and the importance she has, Ganondorf is growing in power but his ultimate downfall is that he doesn't learn from his mistakes. Zelda has to "regrow" the master sword, Link has to regrow in strength after his defeat. It's not a strong theme, but it's pretty clear to me, it's interesting that no one else seemed to get that. The Master Sword being destroyed IS a problem that should have been addressed, but this is also a flaw in BotW. The biggest thing that bothers me in TotK is how in the story they talk about how the longer it bathes in sacred light, the stronger it gets. In BotW it spent 100 years in sacred light, in TotK it spent at least 10,000 years, almost definitely far more. Then it ends up being basically the same as it was in BotW, except now it's actually weaker because BotW had the Trial of the Sword... For the memories problem, you're totally right. In BotW the memories were backstory that filled in the gaps of the lackluster story happening in the present day to make it more interesting, and a lot of them only served to show us the dynamic between Link and Zelda, or the people he meets along the way. Additionally, gameplay-wise it's way more interesting too, trying to find the landmarks and discovering the location of the memories was one of the most enjoyable parts. In TotK You see a glowy picture on the ground and walk towards it, or you can even just take a picture of the Zonai mural that shows you the location of each one. And then as you said, the order being a mess doesn't help the linear story they're trying to tell. I love your suggestion to make Zelda playable in the cutscenes, they could play out after you do certain number of events in the main questlines to make sure they happen in the right order too. Her limited amount of gameplay could even be more traditionally Zelda focused with small real puzzles and more linear design elements, perhaps even culminating with a tradtional mini-dungeon As for the rewrite: When doing the Great Sky Island I honestly believed Rauru was a companion, at least in cutscenes. Then when I finished the tutorial he was just a stand-in for King Rhoam and I was so disappointed It would be cool if Zelda treats the Master Sword more as a two-handed weapon in her moveset, since she's not as skilful with a sword I don't think the Zelda x Link element is very Nintendo at all as they like to hint at that, but they never outright say it. I know your point was to just let it happen already, but I think you could have the same elements with Zelda telling Sonia how much Link means to her and how much they've done for each other and how it's more than just friendship, and then ending the story with an embrace (Which should have happened even in vanilla??) and show the contentment on their faces that they're back together. Maybe they could even callback to the "romance" theme from Skyward Sword during this moment Overall the rewrite was amazing! I like the way you made the flow of the story more consistent, the characters more interesting and the mystery so much more fun. The handling of the Master Sword was awesome both in story and gameplay and I love how you retroactively explain why it kinda sucked in BotW too. I also got so excited when you got to the post-game section, what an incredible way to handle the transformation of Zelda and the lack of the Triforce in BotW! I was happy she transformed back in the original, but there was zero setup for Rauru and Sonia magically transforming her despite it being irreversible so it really didn't feel earned at all. I also like the idea that you have that "Save Zelda" quest through the entire game and even after defeating Ganondorf, it doesn't go away, because you still have work to do in the post game!
One small plothole i noticed. At 34:30 you mention the yiga clan, which i believe shouldn't be possible at this point in story. To my understanding, Calamity ganon formed after ganondorf was sealed away by rauru, and it was the sheikah technology that stopped the first calamity alongside a hero and a princess. After that, the current king of hyrule banished sheikah technology, due to it being too powerful. From there, some sheikah grew resentful and left, forming the Yiga clan with the goal of taking down Hyrule. Other than that, I'm liking this so far! Will edit if something comes up that explains this possible plothole. Edit: Didn't see an explanation but it could be changed so that the yiga are instead gerudo spies using magic (since we know gerudo have magic through twinrova) other that I love this plot and like how you implemented a post game, which I think would be interesting to set in the future with a visibly older Link.
The skyward sword lore and references here actually heal me. I was so upset when there wasn’t much in the actual game. I’ve been saying for a year that I didn’t like the story to TOTK and thought it could have been much better, and the rewrite serves the game so much better. You’re able to make each part of the story serve a purpose to the finale and it’s genuinely really good. The characters here are so much more compelling, and I love the development you did in the memory with Zelda and Sonia, her death actually feels really sad now. It brings a really well done linear experience to an open world game, that works so much better than the old memory system. Though I did have one question, if Rauru is your companion how come he can’t just tell you everything that happened? I guess he could but you would also be able to get Zelda’s perspective of the events through the memory unlocking process.
He would tell you what happened, but he wouldn't be able to tell you what happened to Zelda. The same is true for the base game. Rauru knows that Zelda came to the past, but that doesn't mean he knows where she is now.
45:51 this could actually add further dimension to botw’s lore, what if the king who hid away the Sheikah tech, had somehow learned of Zelda’s apprehensions about it and decided it must be hidden, but then the knowledge about that motivation was lost to time
I honestly liked the story of this game, and I think people are just blinded by nostalgia of other zelda games that they don't even realize that this story can be good, and doesn't even conflict with skyward sword's story, specially since we know the timelines converged so it's clearly just the very beginning of this new timeline
No one has said that the timelines converged, all we have been told is that the games take place somewhere in the future and everything about the past is ambigious. There's also the fact that the official timeline isn't treated by the Zelda team as gospel or a definitive timeline, some of it contradicts the games while the games that released after each new version of the official timeline contradicts it more and more. The book writers want people to treat the information in the books lightly and with an open mind subject to change while the devs think the same thing but also want the in-game timeline(that is treated as more important than the official timeline) to be up to the player's imagination and they leave the final word on the canon to the players. There is good evidence in some games that a time travel event caused another timeline split, good evidence that ALTTP takes place after OOT but not because the hero of time lost and more like it's after TP or FSA, there is some evidence for the Sheikah and Zonai using summoning runes to look into other worlds and bring stories and items from them resulting in multiple stories that contradict each other in BOTW and TOTK’s world with only some details being true but no one is certain of the order of events. The books and the official timeline are also treated kind of as written from the perspective of in-game historians that may or may not be accurate sources.
@@carljohansson3512 the funny thing is that the official timeline itself is kind of based off the official statements made by Aonuma and Miyamoto about each games timeline placement so it's kind of the closest we have to Aonuma and Miyamoto's vision for the entire series storyline.
@@firionkaiser8291 well yeah though Miyamoto's order of events was a bit of a mess while Aonuma's was closer to what the games say but the official timeline is still more of an idea of what the timeline is, like the BOTW placement at the end of all three branches doesn't mean that it takes place after all three, it's meant to be ambigious like in the interviews where they talk about it. The parts of the official timeline that does go against the games are ALTTP and FSA, FSA implies that Vaati has recently been defeated by Link and it's world suggests that the other four swords games should be closer to it, FSA unfortunately goes against one of Aonuma's interviews about Four swords where he said that the Zelda team was thinking about it as one of the earliest games in the history of Hyrule. OOT's story contradicts ALTTP's backstory to it's manual and it's characters if it's Ganondorf story is the same Ganondorf story from ALTTP's backstory(while not the same story it can still be the same person after a revival in a new body and after losing a Triforce piece resulting in him becoming an evil thief/demon thief again and forced to reobtain the rank of demon king) as in the ALTTP backstory Ganondorf accidentally entered the Sacred realm, the Sacred realm's entrance was a hidden secret while in OOT it isn't, Ganondorf can't figure out how to leave the Sacred realm after first entering it, Ganondorf gets the entire Triforce instead of splitting the Triforce because of an imbalance of power, wisdom and courage, Oracle of seasons' Spirit of summer compares Oracle Link to a previous hero with a Triangle mark who defeated "the evil one"(oracles were developed as sequels to OOT and ALTTP but they are more closer to ALTTP, while the devs changed their minds a bit during development the OOT connections remain in the two games). It does feel strange that the creators of the official timeline created a what if scenario to connect ALTTP to OOT but also placed FSA in the child branch after TP and seperated it from the other four swords games when it was possible to also place ALTTP in the child branch and make OOT and TP some of the earlier conflicts over the Triforce told in ALTTP's backstory and ALBW's backstory. When ALBW was released it ignored the modified backstory from the official timeline and later games have never made the OOT what if scenario set in stone by referencing it. ALBW does also contradict the official timeline by placing the sealing of the Triforce after the founding of the kingdom. Ancient stone tablets was developed by Nintendo for the Satellaview(a limited release via broadcast), AST was included in a movie chronicling all Zelda games up to Wind waker but hasn't been talked about at all in interviews since then. AST does introduce some things for the first time such as the light arrows and rental shops. It also has some lore that explains some things in ALTTP and it's sequels like Link’s awakening taking place at the same time as AST(six years after ALTTP), Agahnim becoming Ganondorf's bunshin by getting possessed by a part of Ganondorf's soul and Ganondorf's body being sealed away but his spirit that is being sustained through his malice wasn't. While the Zelda team hadn't talked about AST for years it still fits as a sequel to ALTTP and doesn't seem to contradict anything.
@@carljohansson3512 Was the Sacred Realm's entrance a "hidden secret" in A Link to the Past? All you need to do to go inside in that game is climb the top of Death Mountain and bingo you get sent to the Sacred Realm so i can't see why it would be a mystery aside from a piece of text in an instruction manual which in all due respect does not even come close as been some narratively important piece of Lore to be taken as gospel compared to what we're _shown_ within the game itself. Also i'm pretty sure that in Ocarina of Time the entrance to the Sacred Realm IS a secret as only a few select people in the game ever even _aknowledge_ its existence to assume ever peasant or denizen in the Hyrule Market knows such a place exists and holds the omnipotent Triforce. One could easily argue that the reason why Ganondorf knows about such a place is precisely because he himself researched Hyrule's ancient history while training in black sorcery with his witch surrogate mothers Koume and Kotake who themselves barely knew about Hyrule's near forgotten Lore. As far as i'm concerned the Downfall Timeline is *not* a "what if" timeline but merely another canonical branch which was magically created during the final battle at the end of Ocarina of Time for the simple purpose of sorting a dozen or so games in such a way that wouldn't make Nintendo look incompetent in creating a consistent timeline where every specific game placement fits according to every major event seen in every game in the series. Considering the obvious parallel between the existence of *3* timelines with the *3* Golden Goddesses and the *3* Triforce pieces it makes perfect sense that the Downfall Timeline would exist as a further representation of the 3 elements which encompass the Zelda universe.
For me honestly the only thing I would change about totk's story is zelda staying as the light dragon. I genuinely don't have a problem with totk's story because for me the story isn't really that important and I always thought that BOTW was a reboot for the franchise and all references to previous games were just nods to them. I also hate the phrase "I fixed [Blank]" especially when referring to someone else's piece of art.
I don't agree that she should have stayed the light dragon. That seems pointlessly edgy and defeats the point of all of her development. It would be proving her father right. Also it's hard to ever have another princess zelda again if she never passes on the goddess bloodline...
Yep, not only does BOTW and TOTK clearly show a "We don't want legacy to hold us back" attitude but the games are written the same way a reboot or spinoff story would. Recycling concepts like the imprisonment war or Rauru being the first king of Hyrule is written the same way as works like MegaMan.Exe or Shin Megami Tensei in comparison to their predecessors. I love the lore of the Zelda series and I was one those people obsessing for hours about finding where BOTW fits. And that's how I came to understand, this is the new Zelda; this is it's own thing and we shouldn't be trying to force the old legacy into it. The fandom is just trying to force Zelda into what they want it to be instead of what it is best for it, just the way the king tried in BOTW.
I think what I like about the writing of BotW/TotK is that it is a series retcon without any snobbery or looking down on past games. I admit that I'm not super fond of blatant lore retcons/reimaginings, like Rauru being the first king of Hyrule, but luckily I still quite enjoy his character besides.
Question. Why would Zelda even use the master sword when she has light magic? When I imagine playing as Zelda I don’t imagine a knight swinging a sword, I imagine using magic.
@@sophitiaofhyrule I’m not saying she shouldn’t or can’t I’m saying it doesn’t really fit the gameplay fantasy of playing as Zelda. And Nintendo agrees because in Echoes of Wisdom looks like it’s mostly focused on Zelda using Magic to solve puzzles.
BotW was a shake up. TotK is not even slightly shaken. The story barely slid three inches to the right of the story of the last game, much less *shook*
yeah but the point of the master sword being destroyed is that this is the strongest version of ganon yet, I think the implication is obvious: each version of demise that appears only gets ever stronger, and the master sword only grows ever weaker over the course of time, if the master sword just always trumps ganondorf easily in every game it would be kinda lame, so its a nice change and zelda spends 10,000 years repairing the sword which I think its a pretty cool detail, it seems like the master sword has gotten weaker, but now its become even stronger thanks to zeldas sacrifice and makes us Earn the master sword in a way that feels authentic the only main issue is ganondorf to be honest, his villan motivation is just "conqueor hyrule", if ganondorf was more like that one timeline where he actually did this not just for the idea of "conqueroring stuff because im evil" but conqueroring because he believes the gerudo people and a lot of the smaller races have been pushed down by the royal family it would make the story a lot mroe interesting, because now its imposing the idea that the hyrule of the past was not morally perfect, I mean we saw a glimpse of that in breath of the wild when they demanded the shieka to bury all their weapons in fear they may use them against them, which in turn had the consequence of creating the yiga clan, a clan that sided with the calamity because they felt the royal family had betrayed them. Have rarru be a morally conflicting character rather then someone perfect can fit more into the theme of "fixing the past", maybe this could finally be the game where at long last rather then killing ganondorf, (which by the way killing ganondorf only continues the cycle over and over) Link defeats ganondorf, manages to bring back zelda, and Zelda convinces ganondorf that they will create a better hyrule, one that treats all of its races fairly and as proper equals, hell now im starting to think maybe the master sword should of stayed broken, I felt like it could of set a clear message that the sword that seals the darkness isnt the only way to stop evil, the only reason why demise continues to exist is because of his endless hatred and conflict for link and zelda, but if you remove that hatred you break the cycle you might say that "oh then how is the legend of zelda gonna continue" make new villans, you dont have to have every villan end up being defeated with the master sword and you dont have to keep reusing ganondorf, have this be the final "major" version of ganondorf. in regards to the triforce, to be honest I think the tri force is cool but perhaps a little overused, i was really hoping all these new things being shown means were entering a new era of zelda but it feels like they are either too conflicted to try new things in some areas or change things too much in others
Bro I was just looking for a good video while I eat breakfast and now I‘m sobbing into my toast. This is an epic rewrite I WISH they did something like this man 😭
The only things I wouldn't do is have an elderly Zelda create the Guardians in the past mostly because it requires a ton more development to justify the rational for creating what would inevitably destroy her Kingdom, and the wisdom behind such a decision. In it's place i would give her more time with the past sages that tie into more unique cutscenes between them and the future sages other than "Demon King, Sacred Stones?" As well as do a little more to flesh out the Sacred Stones, and why Ganondorf only possessing one somehow makes him stronger than all the others combined. Perhaps hint that along side gaining the sacred stones it also grants him access to the Triforce of Power, which could then tie into post game content. Finally leave of the Yiga (since that's kind of a retcon), and keep anything to do with Fi to the jingle and flashing of the Master Sword. Aside from that everything else is 1000 times better than the base game story with some nice easter eggs sprinkled throughout. I truly wish this was the story we got instead. Also that ending made me do a spite take.
This is genuinely fantastic. You delivered a really powerful story that ties up loose ends from the timeline and establishes heartbreaking connections to BOTW’s mythos. Im gobsmacked at all of this. Great work! Also the final gag audibly made me laugh.
Things that were missing for me were 1) being able to play as Zelda in the past to flesh out that story, it would've been great to see what distant past map looked like and also it would've been great to have an ultra-hand powered re-build castletown mode so that it is rebuilt prior to the final battle, using the materials that had been around the map. Oh and also tie up the loose end with the accordian playing parrot :)
Hey, listen! On many levels, I loved Tears of the Kingdom (mostly for the nostalgia factor and the music). But I did feel there was something missing from the story, and you hit the nail on the head with this video. Now I understand what I felt was missing from the game. The gameplay is great, the dragon tears are okay in the right order, and I did feel like the emotional beats in the story hit hard for me. But there was still so much more that they could've done with the story to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone. All they had to do was actually try to tell a story loyal to the previous games. And your idea of playing as Zelda is fantastic! You managed to fix the one problem I had with the game perfectly. Well done. 10:35 Hold up. You did not just replace my boy Tulin out of nowhere! My beloved bird boy :(( (ngl Kass as the Sage of Wind is awesome and makes more sense but I still love Tulin and would like him to be somewhat important anyways with this change.)
this rewrite is perfect ! just seemed a bit fanservicey with skyward sword stuff (except the final skyloft dungeon is a sick idea) i really liked how they did fi in botw/totk for whatever reason i feel it just fits in the world better. bringing back the sacred flames is smart too
This is very emotional. I loved how your version used a memory to establish a connection to Sonia so her death would mean more to us. Her, Rauru, and Zelda’s sacrifice means so much more to the story when you think about Zelda’s Sheikah research and the psychological impact of fully knowing that she destroyed the lives of everyone she knows because she couldn’t risk Ganondorf destroying the past.
The only issue I can think of with this is if Rauru is with you the whole game, then why doesn't he just tell link what happened up to him imprisoning Ganondorf? Other than that I love every bit of this!
I'm not opposed to tragic ending or whatever but people need to realise that one - Zelda was a dragon for hundreds of thousands of years so there's no need to have it be permanent and two - If Zelda stays as a dragon then the Hyrule Royal family (blood wise) would go extinct with no way to remedy that so there goes the Sacred Power/Blood of the Goddess.
This video made me realize all those hours I spent trying to complete the trials of the master sword were completely and utterly useless. Did Nintendo really think empowering the sword meant nothing?
First of all, I'd like to say thank you for taking the time making this video. It was quite enjoyable, however I do have some grievances with some of the writing choices. The overall plot of the rewriting is fine. ( I quite enjoyed the end especially as it wrapped up the restoring of the master sword.) However, the portrayl of Rauru and Ganondorf is not faithful or accurate imo. Gannondorf throughout the series manipulates, lies, and deceives his way into gaining power, becoming force and direct upon gaining it. (False alliegence, deceiving Zant, etc) Rauru is presented as diplomatic, intelligent, yet reckless. He mimicks both the foolishness of the Hyrulean King of OOT and the cleverness of King Daphnes from WW by thwarting Ganondorf from immediately conquering Hyrule. The war between them is presented as Tactical on both sides in TOTK, and I think it should remain so in this version. Both should be Overconfident but not seeking to throw their weight around like immature men. They are Kings.
As much as a playable Zelda is dumb in almost any context, you're absolutely correct that we needed far more connection with her being in the past. Personally, I would've rather there was no time travel at all since it automatically disconnects everything and doesn't let the companion system reach its fullest potential with Zelda as this games main partner.
I hate how much I like this, great work. It often feels like the current Zelda devs have no care for the franchise's lore and story aspects, which is a shame.
I disagree with the master sword not breaking. Link is proven a skilled swordsman over and over. Yes the sword is unbreakable but knowing it easily slipped out of the greatest swordsman is kinda sad. Botw and totk emphasizes Link's skills rather than the things he collects. Also if the sword isn't broken why would Zelda sacrifice herself.
While, a lot of this is very good, I feel a bunch of it just kinda feels convoluted, and as a result, lost some of the impact that it could have had, like zelda growing old, that could be a great, and interesting thing that had lasting impacts, if zelda didn't become young again, like that would give some lasting consequences other than semi-causing the calamity in current time. Another thing though, is that the yiga clan doesnt really work in the context featured here because the yiga only form after the sheikah technology is rejected, and they grow resentful. also, the speed at which the first calamity ganon comes around, vs the speed of the second feels off as well, like sonia and raru's zelda being the zelda that helps seal the first calamity does not make sense in that way. Finally, I do think you kind of removed a lot of the impacts that the sacrifices in the games story had. In my opinion, the theme of sacrifice was done pretty well in TOTK, with 3 different major sacrifices by the stone weilders. Raru obviously sacrifices himself to seal gannondorf so he could be beaten in the future, but also saving his own kingdom, his sacrifice is that of a king, dying for his people. Zelda's sacrifice is one made out of hope, love, and trust in link, sacrificing herself so that link gets another chance at killing ganon, knowing full well that she likely will not be able to be turned back, sacrificing her full self, her mind, and her body for tens of thousands of years. Ganon, then at the climax of the game, is a reversal of the two other sacrifices, where as those sacrifices were selfless, being made to secure the future, Ganon's is a twisted sacrifice made out of desperation, malice, and refusal to lose. Ganon sacrfice is fully selfish, he loses himself much like zelda, but unlike zelda, it was only self fufilling. In conclusion, I love sacrifices stories in media, it represents a culmination of ones ideals, and can give a powerful message.
Wish THEY HAD given us Rauru as a companion. Then it would have made the areas where we play as zeld would have lace more impact - he could comment about how he felt during those times in the past
If anything they definitely could've added more to the Sage scenes. Imagine the old spirits interacting with their King one last time.
they should yhave done it in general. It would have made the reused ares feeel different because you woud gain new insight on old locations
@@demifolk8940Breath of the Wild does it better. This feeling is ruined in Tears of the Kingdom anyway so why not add a companion.
What if the Sacred stones slowly changed you into a dragon the more you use them, and eating one merely sped up the process? This could add to why Sonia doesn’t look like the average Hylian.
Sonia does look like the average hylian though?
@@ParrotcatI somewhat agree, though her ears seem longer to me than the average Hylian’s

awesome theory
I personally thought that the triforce is what brought Zelda back. Rauru the Powerful, Sonia the Wise, and Link the Courageous. Link’s will was so strong it brought Zelda back without him even needing to utter a word.
Then that needed to be explicitly stated or shown. These are larger than life magical legends no room for that kind of subtlety imo
Mineru or Zelda, I can't remember, said in the epilogue that it was a combination of Zelda's time and light power I believe.
Mineru says Zelda turned back because of Rauru's light power and Sonia's time power, so this has unfortunately no relation to the Triforce
@@sophitiaofhyrule and she did say "it is only a theory...."
"Zelda would sacrifice herself, because that's what leaders do."
Oh, how I wish that was actually true.
Rephrase, that's what good leaders do.
Yep. Like Rauru explains.
A leader must do everything to protect their kingdom and its population, even if it means to sacrifice yourself.

@@PhantomOfficial07 but what about the ancient relics that (in your case) Now from the future?
hehe, tears.
So many things to say here:
Always good to see you! Thank you for the kind words!
Your proposal about the geoglyph visions wouldn’t have worked because each memory is related to the figure it depicts and they’re all placed where they make sense geographically for the most part. You can get the order and locations of the memories early enough that it shouldn’t be an issue.
@@LinkMountaineer yea you're right about the geoglyphs specifically, but the high level idea remains
@@redblackgaming High level idea? No, not really.
I'm just sayin if Link was the sage of time it'd make his bullet time stuff make even more sense AND it would've been a fun callback to OoT.
pretty sure zelda was the sage of time in oot too. don't think it was ever stated outright, but she was referred to as a sage, and the ocarina of time was originally hers, along with the temple of time being so close to hyrule castle. honestly, it had been a headcanon of mine ever since i first played it.

With or without the master sword link should not been Overwhelmed so easily Considering the fact that ganondorf was in a extremely weakened state...
Basically he respects link because he has the resolve and strength to Achieve his goals
Ganondorf Was also impressed that link was able to fight him to a stalemate In their first encounter despite Zelda Being a Hinderence, He Believed link had a good possibility Of Outright Defeating Him If Link Was Not Worried About Zelda Safety.
Before I dive into the video... I thought it would have been raw for Zelda to remain the dragon, but the story didn't dare to be brave enough.
My perfect vision for that twist would be getting to restore Zelda with Impa and just making it a major part of the game instead of ghost Rauru and Sonia doing magic stuff.
Zelda would lose a part of herself, imagine her waking up and saying "Who are you?"
Saving her life at the cost of her memories, could be even better for her, kinda like how Link's personality changed after losing his memories. He was happier and more innocent, could go back to the burden of being Hylia's descendant, and giving her freedom from all that.
Brave? Why do people want tragic endings? That’s not how games like this work.
@@LinkMountaineer Link's awakening, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, these games have a bittersweet ending with sacrifices.
@@salk9943 Link’s Awakening was a side game outside the series main conventions and was literally all a dream. Majora’s Mask had literally no sacrifices since you could turn back time at any point and nothing was lost at the true ending. The only one of the three I’ll give you is Twilight Princess.
@@salk9943 Lowkey, could've made a great epilogue to take an amnesiac Zelda around Hyrule to recover her memories.
Such as:
Make sure the dragon tear memories play in chronological order regardless of the sequence you find them in.
Not being permanent is good enough, she stays as a dragon to ensure the master sword full restoration for thousand of years.
Or have the Recall ability explicitly undo the draconification, where Rauru sacrifices himself to provide the necessary power to do so.
to be fair all we know of draconification prior to zelda and ganondorf are mere stories
@@mrmediocre848wym sacrifice? he's alr dead
Yeah these are kinda my only gripes. Pretty good though. Just I hate those corny proposals thing.
Yeaaahhh even as a big Zelink shipper I still thought that part was a bit cringe
@@mercury2157Gloom isn’t a strengthened Malice. If you’ve stepped in both, you can clearly see just how much more powerful Malice is.

Regarding the retcons, I wanna give some of my own thoughts as to why they don't matter to me
The Master Sword shattering shows how strong Ganondorf has become over the last several tens of thousands of years.
I'll have to keep watching to see your explanations for some of the things, but:
I'm assuming showing thr young Zelda is simply to show Zelda's ancestor.
Bro at the beginning when he said "well pretty easy" I swear he was channeling that movie pitch guy and was gonna say " easy barely a inconvenience"
I mean, I'm pretty sure the Fi physically appearing element was only for the battery joke. Wouldn't consider it an actual part of the rewrite.

@@pezfam I feel like I recall something saying that the Blood Moon exists independently, but I could be wrong.
i think ganon channels his powers through the bloodmoon
his powers grow stronger because channeling, and this is why it happens at boss fights and calamity tried to summon one, he was trying to channel enough to revive himself

Nintendo - did none of that.
@@stevenburas6082 yep. They need to stop pretending the previous game doesn’t exist.
This dude literally thinks "remember this?" is a type of story.
Thank you for letting me be a part of this! It was so fun to voice Princess Zelda!!!
"People have asked to play as Zelda since the beginning, and they will never stop." But they have stopped, now that playable Zelda is a thing!!!
I second this
Yeah though I would avoid using Creating a champion as gospel unless there is a dev note that doesn't contradict the games same with the new TOTK book that is coming out this year.

54:13 phenomenal ending 10/10😂😂
05:44 My gawd! Thank you! I've always thought this too. The detail about Rauru being the ***first*** king was so superfluous, and the only thing it added to the story was making it inconsistent with the rest of the series lore.
...kinda confused as to when this rewrite is supposed to be set. The Yiga come about after the 10K Calamity with the Ancient Sheikah battling Calamity Ganon. Modern Hyrule Castle already exists and has existed for a long while at that point.
Also the Forgotten Temple is not the Sealed Temple.
I promise this is a genuine question, where does it say when the yiga were established? Is it in creating a champion or in the game?
@@SwaggMasta0 It's part of the tapestry that depicts the Ancient Calamity, and I believe is stated somewhere in game. The only reason they exist is because the King betrayed the Sheikah and banished the tech. The game also states that the Sheikah made the tech primarily to fight Calamity Ganon, so we'd have to assume he already existed before the tech did.
I always thought a cooler premise for totk would be; Link doesn't get knocked down to 3 hearts by Ganondorf's Gloom, instead he is poisoned and loses his arm. When Rauru takes him into the sky and you clear the tutorial island 3 major differences become clear:
1 - Link is slowly dying, you need to cook curative meals to abate Ganon's curse while Purah helps develop treatments. gameplaywise your always fighting to regain Hearts and stamina as they are eaten away. (The Shrine of Resurrection still exists and functions but Link refuses to use it as he doesn't want to sleep while people suffer.)
2 - Hyrule is now made of 2 planes The Sky Islands and The Corrupted Surface.
(This basically removes traditional shrines from the game making them more organic in the world.)
Bonus thoughts - At the end of the game Zelda remains a dragon and since Rauru fades away Link's arm returns to being a stump.
Good job! 👍
seriously such a missed opportunity to let Zelda be playable in some way. also, no petting dogs was a missed opportunity too.
Well, we finally got our playable Zelda. But I still think this game would have really benefited from the memories being an interactive portion where you play as Zelda rather than just watching her.
Being able to witness the memories by playing as princess Zelda is such a great idea that it's a shame they didn't do it.
The fact that TotK's theme is "hands" really shows how little thought Nintendo put into this game's themes 💀
@@sophitiaofhyrule lol I mean a theme doesn't need to be complex either, it can really be about anything
@@sophitiaofhyrulethe theme of hands, while maybe not being as remarkable from a storytelling perspective, definitely is very strongly felt from a gameplay perspective. @@Link-Link a theme is a message. Hands are not a message. Hands are a *motif*, not a theme.
@@springerengineering6697 fair to say that hands are a motif as well too yes but the devs themselves said that hands are a major theme of the game, so I'd personally go with what they said concerning that
Edit : Theme is a message that the art is trying to convey us.
I WANT THIS GAME YOU'RE CREATING OMG THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER
not having this actually be the game will hurt me physically every time I think about what we could have had
There HAS to be a mod implementing this story. It would be insanely hard to do though.
"Here is the new and improved ToTk..."

Me: So far I like it.
This first section is exclusively about your breakdown:
The theme was growth imo.
Her limited amount of gameplay could even be more traditionally Zelda focused with small real puzzles and more linear design elements, perhaps even culminating with a tradtional mini-dungeon
As for the rewrite:
When doing the Great Sky Island I honestly believed Rauru was a companion, at least in cutscenes. Then when I finished the tutorial he was just a stand-in for King Rhoam and I was so disappointed
It would be cool if Zelda treats the Master Sword more as a two-handed weapon in her moveset, since she's not as skilful with a sword
I don't think the Zelda x Link element is very Nintendo at all as they like to hint at that, but they never outright say it. Maybe they could even callback to the "romance" theme from Skyward Sword during this moment
Overall the rewrite was amazing! I also like the idea that you have that "Save Zelda" quest through the entire game and even after defeating Ganondorf, it doesn't go away, because you still have work to do in the post game!
this is peak, genuinely felt like how a Zelda MOVIE would go
One small plothole i noticed.
Rauru knows that Zelda came to the past, but that doesn't mean he knows where she is now.
thanks for letting me be a part of this! had so much fun and it turned out great
It is always a blast to work on any project with you! Hope we get to do more in the future 😎👉👉
This.
I would pay the double to have your version real
For me honestly the only thing I would change about totk's story is zelda staying as the light dragon. I genuinely don't have a problem with totk's story because for me the story isn't really that important and I always thought that BOTW was a reboot for the franchise and all references to previous games were just nods to them. I also hate the phrase "I fixed [Blank]" especially when referring to someone else's piece of art.
I care about the stories in zelda
I don't agree that she should have stayed the light dragon. That seems pointlessly edgy and defeats the point of all of her development. It would be proving her father right. Also it's hard to ever have another princess zelda again if she never passes on the goddess bloodline...
@@kit76149well, that wouldn't matter anyway if they also just retconned that
Yep, not only does BOTW and TOTK clearly show a "We don't want legacy to hold us back" attitude but the games are written the same way a reboot or spinoff story would.
Zelda literally has had a sword before -_- This whole "Zelda shouldn't use a sword" thing is complete bs
Nintendo: tries to shake up the story of TLoZ.
People on the internet: This *needs* to be fixed
Yup
I mean, I have no problem with them shaking it up, but it's like they barely even tried here lol
BotW was a shake up. TotK is not even slightly shaken. The story barely slid three inches to the right of the story of the last game, much less *shook*
The story is so horrible I actually laughed at the ending.
@@HungryWarden I like TOTK, but I do agree the story could’ve been better.
yeah but the point of the master sword being destroyed is that this is the strongest version of ganon yet, I think the implication is obvious: each version of demise that appears only gets ever stronger, and the master sword only grows ever weaker over the course of time, if the master sword just always trumps ganondorf easily in every game it would be kinda lame, so its a nice change and zelda spends 10,000 years repairing the sword which I think its a pretty cool detail, it seems like the master sword has gotten weaker, but now its become even stronger thanks to zeldas sacrifice and makes us Earn the master sword in a way that feels authentic
the only main issue is ganondorf to be honest, his villan motivation is just "conqueor hyrule", if ganondorf was more like that one timeline where he actually did this not just for the idea of "conqueroring stuff because im evil" but conqueroring because he believes the gerudo people and a lot of the smaller races have been pushed down by the royal family it would make the story a lot mroe interesting, because now its imposing the idea that the hyrule of the past was not morally perfect, I mean we saw a glimpse of that in breath of the wild when they demanded the shieka to bury all their weapons in fear they may use them against them, which in turn had the consequence of creating the yiga clan, a clan that sided with the calamity because they felt the royal family had betrayed them.
Have rarru be a morally conflicting character rather then someone perfect can fit more into the theme of "fixing the past", maybe this could finally be the game where at long last rather then killing ganondorf, (which by the way killing ganondorf only continues the cycle over and over) Link defeats ganondorf, manages to bring back zelda, and Zelda convinces ganondorf that they will create a better hyrule, one that treats all of its races fairly and as proper equals, hell now im starting to think maybe the master sword should of stayed broken, I felt like it could of set a clear message that the sword that seals the darkness isnt the only way to stop evil, the only reason why demise continues to exist is because of his endless hatred and conflict for link and zelda, but if you remove that hatred you break the cycle
you might say that "oh then how is the legend of zelda gonna continue" make new villans, you dont have to have every villan end up being defeated with the master sword and you dont have to keep reusing ganondorf, have this be the final "major" version of ganondorf.
in regards to the triforce, to be honest I think the tri force is cool but perhaps a little overused, i was really hoping all these new things being shown means were entering a new era of zelda but it feels like they are either too conflicted to try new things in some areas or change things too much in others
Bro I was just looking for a good video while I eat breakfast and now I‘m sobbing into my toast. This is an epic rewrite I WISH they did something like this man 😭
Nintendo: hire this man
My 1,000,000 subscribers goal is just buying Nintendo
Bro
Thank you!!
Hot take I like the master sword breaking. To me it just shows what power ganon possesses with a secret stone.
X2
How do 6 people with Secret Stones lose to one guy with a Secret Stone?
the master sword breaking is not a problem, the problem is how they handled it so it doesnt feel earned
My beloved bird boy :((
(ngl Kass as the Sage of Wind is awesome and makes more sense but I still love Tulin and would like him to be somewhat important anyways with this change.)
this rewrite is perfect ! just seemed a bit fanservicey with skyward sword stuff (except the final skyloft dungeon is a sick idea) i really liked how they did fi in botw/totk for whatever reason i feel it just fits in the world better. bringing back the sacred flames is smart too
This is very emotional.
Geez, if only the story was this. It would have been epic.
As someone who enjoyed TOTK (yes, burn me at the stake all you want) I kinda want to see a fusion between the story of TOTK's canon and this story!
This is probably the best what if senario. For Zelda that i've ever seen. Thatnk you for making this and also the rest of the team :)
Great job man, kudos to you nd all those who helped. This is now my official cannon version of the story that I will substitute the real on with.
Why did this make me cry this was so good
This video made me realize all those hours I spent trying to complete the trials of the master sword were completely and utterly useless. Did Nintendo really think empowering the sword meant nothing?
First of all, I'd like to say thank you for taking the time making this video. It was quite enjoyable, however I do have some grievances with some of the writing choices.
The overall plot of the rewriting is fine. ( I quite enjoyed the end especially as it wrapped up the restoring of the master sword.)
However, the portrayl of Rauru and Ganondorf is not faithful or accurate imo. Gannondorf throughout the series manipulates, lies, and deceives his way into gaining power, becoming force and direct upon gaining it. (False alliegence, deceiving Zant, etc)
Rauru is presented as diplomatic, intelligent, yet reckless.
4:47 Wait what? I'm confused. Isn't the whole thing is that they reincarnate? You know, curse of the hero?
This is an incredibly good idea for a rewrite! And it meshes perfectly with Skyward Sword!
I love how you have flowerblight Ganon on your map
As much as a playable Zelda is dumb in almost any context, you're absolutely correct that we needed far more connection with her being in the past.
Personally, I would've rather there was no time travel at all since it automatically disconnects everything and doesn't let the companion system reach its fullest potential with Zelda as this games main partner.
Hm, this is the first time I've heard such a strong condemnation of playable Zelda. What makes you feel that way?
I was so upset that we didn't get a phantom Zelda boss fight to reference Twilight Princess
Also if the sword isn't broken why would Zelda sacrifice herself.
seriously tho I LOVE THIS REWRITE it’s much better then the current story for Totk
😳 thanks!
Love how Fi was incorporated! Man this was amazing to hear.
