I have X-Plane 12 Organizer installed. I downloaded the Orbx So Cal package, dragged the folders from X-Plane 11 to 12, launched Organizer and it read and recognized all the new files. Launched X-Plane 12 and the new scenery seems to be working without a hitch and looks beautiful. Organizer placed all the Orbx files below my payware airports so they all appear as normal. Have frames maxed at 34 FPS and not seeing any hit to performance. Highly recommend both Organizer and Orbx. $ very well spent. They play well together and was very easy to install and use both.
[addendum : disregard this msg 😊...ran across Global Forests for XP11 & 12 on the ORBx Central site ] Late to the party here 😉 but, when you say "global forests" are you referring to the ORBx Global TerraFlora, or some other 3rd party product? I just finished loading up XP12 and looking to use my library of ORBx XP11 products; just not sure if I should install the TerraFlora module or not (or the Orbx Libraries and SAM modules for that matter). Cheers!

This video is EXTREMELY helpful. After hearing much consesus of Orbx mainly focusing on MSFS2020, this may be the only way we get our stuff working. As Scenery from 11 is 100% compatible ( according to the Xplane Devs ) with 12, there really shouldnt be any problems whatsoever.
No where did they say xp11 scenery is 100% compatible, in fact, the exact opposite. They have entire threads on what won't work! Mesh under Ortho, like orbx is the biggest issue, you are missing over 75% of the data needed for it to be 100% 12 compatible
Thanks. I spoke to Orbx and they said 'Orbx products that are not available to install using Orbx Central do appear to work in X Plane 12, although they will not have any of the X Plane 12 enhancements'. To me it sounds like we either wait or replace it with a better product later.
hello q8 thanks for this video , i took the risk and it was worth taking . i have used orthos and tried sim heaven but i think the orbx is the best scenery i have used .downloaded true earth gb south and wow, shall be adding more in the future. Love your tutorials keep it going .

I have XP11 on my desktop PC plus ALL of OrbX's True Earth addon sceneries, so I have spent hundreds of pounds on OrbX addons plus many other 3rd party sceneries. The problem is my PC's 'C' hard drive is 75% full, so I don't think I have enough room left on my present PC to allow both XP11 and XP12 on the one PC , especially with all my addons for both simulators. Any ideas on what I should do? I'm ok with buying a new all-singing all-dancing PC, but then there is still the question of how to transfer all the addon sceneries from this PC to a new one.
I'm having trouble with this scenery area regarding airports. I flew from Monterey to Napa; Monterey had missing buildings and really bad airport elevations, Napa had no airport buildings. Any suggestions?

In my case I tried simply creating alisaes of some of my XP11 scenery, starting with True Earth. This seems to work as well, although I was careful to just do one at a time despite the temptation. This also means I can keep my XP11 files intact and avoid having to duplicate them. However it also means that I have to keep XP11's file structure and use OC with the Custom Scenery folder in 11. I only realised today there is a specific XP12 Orbx library, although I've been just aliasing the Orbx 11 library without issues. I'm actually very impressed with XP12's performance which seems better than 11 even with complex and capacious scenery like TE installed

I'm really disappointed that Orbx hasn't released UK scenery for X-Plane 12. I know everyone is obsessed with MSFS and so the market probably isn't there for X-Plane any more, but it would still be nice.
I'm seriously tempted to buy XP12, haven't fired up XP11 since i saw the trailer for MSFS2020. One of the main reasons for my current interest in XP12 is the ''Concorde FXP v3 by Colimata'', the MSFS offering is a moth-eaten disgrace to an iconic aircraft, yet the ''Concorde FXP v3 by Colimata'' is exceptional in every aspect. The main benefit we have in 2023 is we have both 'XP12/MSFS2020/DCS/KSP2' so all my boxes get ticked.
I fly XP11 instead of MSFS. The feeling of flight, the takeoff and especially the landing physics are far better. I can not stand the "digital" rudder and highly sensitive yaw on the ground, a 737 feels like a go cart. In XP you feel the inertial and mass more. That's why you see many real pilots still flying in XP, like Flightdeck2sim for examply.
Great tutorial as always, unfortunately this did not work for me. Any Airport I started from had no buildings, just taxiways and runways, LAX had the airway Bridge for passengers but no buildings...
@@brettmaxwell1360 - as 'scenery packs' is a text file, all you need to do is cut and paste any lines up to the top of the list (or near the top) and then delete any spacing lines that have resulted from that line being moved. Then, don't forget to press 'save' when you've finished.
I have to agree with you in that ORBX has left the X-Plane community with a bitter taste. I do understand though that a business they have to go where the money is.
@@confuseddad2865 weather in xp12 is vastly improved. it has very realistic icing simulation. i have no major complaints about weather in xp12. it looks and feels really nice.
@@protovack if you are happy then that is all that matters I am honestly just sour that Austin did so much lip service to the whole update , upgrade , "we spent years working on this" and all it was was a fairly uncohesive looking previous gen simulator with puddles all over and graphical artifacts
Couldn't see a damn thing!! You really should of zoomed in a lot more. All that extra real-estate of screen monitor around the Window you were showing going to waste.
I installed ORBX Great Britain South to my Xplane 12 folder as per the instructions here and the ORBX installer. It fires up ok, I can see the extra scenery (Norwich Airport UK), but a minute or two after getting airborne in the stock 172, it freezes with some "vulcan missing file 001" message or similar, and I have to shut it down through task manager. Any suggestions please ?
@@Q8Pilot I don't have that installed as far as I know. I simply purchased and downloaded the GB South Scenery using the ORBX installer and followed your instructions. I now have 4 ORBX GB South, Sub Menus in my X-Plane 12, CUSTOM SCENERY directory. I have also noticed that EGLL, London, Heathrow has no buildings ? I'd really love to get this working. I'm sure it's just a simple fix if you know what to look for ?
If I can get the 3 ORBX X-Plane UK scenery packages to work in XP12, I'm dumping MSFS forever. I only fly in the UK and this will be a game changer for me. The bog standard MSFS UK scenery is pretty crap anyway.

If you use global forests, you can use X-Organizer and put the global forests trees on top of the Orbx True Earth scenery to get 3D trees back.
Yes and they actually look a lot better than the 2D orbx trees.
Do you have to use x organiser or just can I just move it in the scenery..ini file?
@Simmo Oz if you know the order then mo need for xorganizer. I highly recommend it though as it does everything automatically in a second.

I know this video is a year old & i tried this method & it didn't work for me as XP 11 didn't show up in ORBX central.
You must have done something wrong, because I just opened ORBX central, and XP11 scenery is there.

The general order of the scenery ini file should be:
1 add-on aiports,
2 global airports,
3 ORBX regions,
4 Ortho's,
5 Mesh.

Do a verify install and then make sure the order of the scenery is correct in your scenery ini file.

As I clearly mention in the video, the xp11 and xp12 libraries when both are present, stutters may be present.

You need XP11 libraries installed if you want to use ORBX TrueEarth.

It is because they are waiting for Laminar to fix and issue with DSF. Not their issue really.

I don't know but I have spent a lot...probably in the thousands of dollars bracket.

Well, it is not supported officially by ORBX, so if it doesn't work, you might want to remove ORBX True Earth for the time being.

This is an issue with your scenery.ini. you need to set the correct order.

It amazes me how much Orbx has ignored supporting X-Plane 12 while they try to maximize profits from MSFS.

It works exactly the same way on Mac :) but the file is found in User/Library/Preferences/

If you have the ORBX Library for XP12 installed, remove it.

@@paulthurston2883 I think your scenery ini file order is not correct. I recommend xorganizer if you don't know how to arrange the entries manually.

If you are installing TrueEarth, you will need XP11 libraries not XP12.
