    Which sensor was it that needs to be replaced?

  • @krishnapatel2863
    @krishnapatel2863 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you do it yourself be careful the torque spec on the sensor is wrong. Someone cracked their aluminum timing cover. It's pita of a repair after that so hand tighten.

    It’s still safe and reliable to drive the vehicle with that sensor failure ? I mean …. If you drive it in the freeway and you keep your RPM over 2000 the light never turns on.
    Or it’s absolutely necessary to replace the sensor ?

    Seeing similar issues. But the difference is that my oil light doesn't seem to have much to do with the RPMs, but rather feel random. It only goes on for a few seconds and stays off mostly. I've already replaced one of the sensors myself (very easy job). Seems that this car is actually more reliable than its sensors.
    UPDATE:
    In my case, it was a different sensor that was going bad. It was the sensor that dealt with passenger detection and the *fuel pump*. The sensor told the engine that weird things were happening with the fuel which caused a big loss of power. Good news: the sensor is located in the trunk, costs just about $150 at the dealer, and was very easy to replace myself. Fixed!
    But now I'm seeing this exact same issue. Sigh.

    Duuuuuuuuudeeeee!!!!!! Yours happens early! Mine happened at 105k miles 5 k miles after my warranty stopped!
    I checked the forums also a d TH-cam and I saw that it was probably the sensor. Still scary to see so I haven't driven it on the freeway in months. What I decided to do was get an extension to my warranty because of this pricey fix and I feel I may need it for a transmission , maybe not sure.
    But yea I can't drive it too long when that comes on any light gives me anxiety.
    I'll be at the dealership soon since I have the warranty now.. and maybe the warranty may be canceled after I get the work done. But I didn't say that.

    How often do you change your oil? These extended drain oil changes are nonsense doesn't matter what car brand, change your oil with a high quality full synthetic every 3k miles or 3 months whichever comes first. These vehicles have variable valve timing solenoids that have tiny oil passages that easily clog. I've been in the automotive industry for over 20 years, ASE Master Certified and send oil samples for testing. One of my vehicles is a hyundai veloster, it only has 3.5 quarts of oil, hyundai recommends something crazy like 7k oil changes, it's just not logical to assume only 3.5 quarts of oil can last that long, there simply isn't enough volume of oil to withstand the abuse.

    • @KLEANTRIX
      @KLEANTRIX  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Makes sense. I normally do it every 5k miles and full synthetic, however this sensor issue happened to many others with way less miles and later years than mine.

      I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis as well. I am currently sitting at 176,000 miles - I started getting the oil pressure light RIGHT AFTER 105,000. I have traveled from Orlando, FL - Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA with this light. The light only comes on when I first start the Genesis. It usually last about 20 mins before it goes away. I went to the dealership & they told me It was a sensor, but while they had opened the engine up for inspection they wanted to complete timing chain, water pump, camshaft replacement & lifters. The price they wanted was over 8K. I told them no. I continue to change my oil every 5K miles. I am currently using LIQUI Molly Full Synthetic.

    2019 KIA Stinger GT w/ 66K miles. Same V6 lambda engine. Quoted close to $4K as of 3/22/2024. Part is not expensive. Labor to take out entire engine to replace part and reassemble. Buyer beware on Genesis V6, Stinger V6 or any Hyundai or KIA with Lambda V6 engine

    You REALLY should NOT purchase this vehicle. My opinion as a G80 owner. No use case for anyone I can imagine, especially someone wanting to work on it and fix it themselves. This is NOT a good project car if you don't have extensive expertise and access to Korean-spec tools. Everything from the screw threading to the measurements are incompatible with aftermarket accessories that aren't specifically designed for your model year and car.
    Had this. Also the wiper sensor failed. As did the reciever/all remote functionality. So did the transmission requiring a full replacement. Also full front panel replacement due to paint issue. Also calipers as it weighs as much as most full-size suv's/trucks. And the antenna fin snapped off where the plastic surround the screws and had to be glued by the dealership. And the drivers wheel well carpeting fell off completely, had it replaced, still have ambient air pushing in through the window and door lock button on the door. My odometer screen broke when I wiped the glass covering it with a dry microfiber towel (static electricity).
    None of this to mention the horiffic dealership and ownership experience, the unforgivably slow and error-ridden infotainment system, and normal day-to-day failures of the car and Genesis as a brand.
    Just go BMW/Alfa/any coupe if you want the driving characteristics, or Merc/Audi/Lincoln if you want luxury.
